QueenC my DH's phrase is " we're battening down the hatches".....what the heck? I just nod and ignore Grin
One not aggressive, pro active, it all depends on how you talk to them I think.
McNally I think of the calories, and it does make for some good memories .....and the evening glass of wine tastes all the better for it.Smile
Foxy you sound like my DH.you are right though, healthier to live in cooler houses with fresh air but I wouldn't say that to DH!

Me too One. Current tally of clothing wrecked by jam making-about seven. When will I learn not to do it wearing decent clothes? Or pick the fruit too.

I wreck clothes whilst making bolognese sauce, and pizza sauce.

My CK pinny doesn't cover me enough.
Maybe I need a hazmat suit?

I can wreck things just making toast! I have (to add to my massive list of medical complaints, I swear, I'm genuine) almost no peripheral vision so I'm forever sticking my arm in the butter tub or knocking it on my shoes or something like that! I am a disaster zone in the kitchen truth be told though I do a mean steak! Grin

hi all!,
safe trip back home linus,i still got a lot to back, thank god we dont leave till friday.

queen i agree with novice,a short term ban is ok,but a very long one can cause serious shopping spree madness! i speak from experience.

novice that was a nasty thread, and you are right men notice things, and it does not make you less of a person to lust over and buy beautiful things.

foxy some boots styles sell so fast,so if you like a style and feel that it will sell, then buy them,i tend to do what marsha does, buy a few things early and wait till sales, for the rest. im still looking for a cheaper version of the marant, hope it will be included in her h&m collaboration

dry im always cold,so i keep them on,and like foxy our house is a bit cold,

When I met my DH he was the lunch time shopping companion for half a dozen female CPN's! The got quite miffed when I swooped in and stole him away. Not that I minded at all their shopping trips with him. Quite a few men at work noticed and commented on clothing including one particular sleazejob who commented on weight loss/gain and how breasts looked. Not so PC our work place in the late 90's. I told him one day that his trousers made his dick look particularly tiny and he never made any comments again to me.

Dry We have a drafty late Victorian. I like being cold and so does DH.

Hi everyone, back from holidays and taking time to catch up. Reading through the previous volume, it is clear that there is so much more here than S&B. There is so much support for everyone, particularly when times are tough. So unlike that awful bag thread.
No new purchases here since I put myself on a one-month spending ban (I don't count cosmetics or knickers!) My last purchase was the I&I sweater in the Outnet sale (I love it and finally understand the appeal of cashmere).
I am enjoying the chat and the links which will help me plan my AW purchases. Now must get back to distracting DD who is fretting about A Level results tomorrow ......

Oh I squeak and run away too One but I hated (and still hate) this manager with a vengeance. Oh the times I have been tempted to name and shame him on Mn. I did whistle blow on him though and he was removed from patient care.

Topaz Welcome home. I do hope your DD gets what she needs tomorrow. It is such an awful day each year, the day before.....We haven't had a major underwear discussion on here lately so maybe we could hear about your new knickers? Kind of tell but don't show if you like? Grin

Can't be doing with cold, I like the thermostat at about 24 in winter.

I've done 3 weeks now. Not been so bad, so far. Having an end goal helps a lot.

Oooo topaz, which colour I&I did you get? I love mine too.

Le pliage arrived and is lovely. So clever how it folds up so small! Glad I got the large, the small would have been pretty useless with DCs I think. The dark grey is v chic and think it will become a staple.

Thanks for all the boot chat. Am psyching myself up to buy them! Big investment (for me). Was idly browsing NaP earlier and so many of the boots are already sold out in all but the smallest sizes. Obv the fashionistas get on it quick smart.

24 amber! That's what my parents house is like. I get hot and bothered just thinking about it.

Well done on the three week mark. Are you avoiding blogs and shopping sites too? What if something amazing came up on the outnet?! Shock

foxy no I'm still looking, it's half the fun! Nothing has really challenged me yet, though there is a Whistles skirt I keep thinking about...

Boot wise I think that is one area I'd be happy to go FP. You get great CPW with boots in this country.

DD has gone out now with her friends, no doubt they will be winding each other up!
Foxy I got the blue one that McNally, and I think someone else (Marsha?) has. A lovely colour.
I'm afraid the knickers were a boring M&S multipack, mig. I like matching sets. Fantasie seem to do the right shape bra for me like this. I usually buy 2 pairs of knickers for each new bra but I supplement with plain M&S.
While I was there, I also bought pyjamas, which also don't count Wink.
Foxy I would buy the boots when you find a pair you love. Even if they are reduced later, you will get so much wear out of them that it won't matter too much. Conversely, if you wait, don't worry about missing out because there will always be new ones to fall in love with! Either way, enjoy shopping for them!

Lost this thread last night smartphone issues but now caught up. I think this thread is bad for my wallet as it just give me ideas! Things I like buying - bags, shoes - I am encouraged to look at even more than usual. And things I am less confident about - tops - well, it just opens my eyes to the possibilities out there. I will have to join topaz ,queen , amber on a spending ban soon....and I still haven't sorted my beach clothes shopping for our hol in last week of Aug. As soon as I have got rid of the work that I am currently doing, am hotfooting it to Westfield to focus on swimsuits, beach cover up things and anything else that happens to be there.

Foxy totally admire you for your boot foresightedness. Are these proper long or warm boots, not just ankle boots? I am just not able to imagine beyond ankle boot weather at the moment (no imagination sadly Hmm)

novice going back to to that bag thread. I think it is obvious that men and women with an eye for these things (ie not my dad) notice well designed/made things -I always notice people's jewellery (any style, real, fake whatever) because I love jewellery. Of course things that are good quality and well designed will attract attention. And of course some of time these things will be expensive because of those very qualities. I spend hours looking in kitchenware shops at all the different scandinavian coffee flasks etc. The brand names usually mean nothing to me but often always the things I am drawn to most are the priciest.

One Hope you are feeling a little better this afternoon. It is totally acceptable to ask for feeback re your course. If they aren't providing it, it probably means it is on the to do list of the person responsible, but you should feel totally cool about asking for it. It is important to you and there is no reason to feel shy about bringing it up again.

Nightwear doesn't count Topaz. Nor do shoes in my book or books for that matter.

Novice re what men notice, I find jewellery is a 'safe' thing for them to notice at work in terms of not being misconstrued.

Foxy are they the boots you have pinned (and I have repinned!!!). If so, and you can afford them, then I think they would be worth the money. They are fantastic and will look good for years. I have been debating them but they are not work suitable so I don't think I'd get the wear from them but as a SAHM I think you would potentially wear them almost every day from mid Sept to mid April. If they are the ones I think they are by my reckoning I think you could get the CPW down to about £2 per day by April!!! Below that even Grin

And absolutely, music, books, underwear and skin/hair products don't count on spending bans!!!

Foxy good decision - but just so you know I have been deliberating over a pair you have pinned for days!!! And I should not buy them, too expensive and I'd only wear them once a week at best - this thread is hell at times Wink

ROYS - the land of Milk & Honey! Crap food but so many weird and wonderful things like clothes pegs, door mats and Barkeepers Friend.

I can't wear cowl or roll or polo necks Liberty as I think when I am angry I must look like a little snapping turtle in them as I have a short neck. It looks snuggly wuggly though and love the smokey blue grey colour of it.

Here are the boots I MUST HAVE. Love them, I do.

It was like stepping onto the set of Are You Being Served Mig.
Lovely cosy looking jumper Liberty needs to be more of a chunky roll neck for me though. Gorgeous colour....
Foxy definitely buy the boots. I've kicked myself over the years not buying early enough in the season.
