Bum! Just join a thread and lock it down! So I'll start the next one.

OP posts:
Blackduck · 22/07/2013 12:24

I tasted the mix, but unfortuantely will not be partaking of the cooked thing (hope it is okay?!) It is for ds's teacher who is leaving (he used to take her a slice of whatever we had baked every Monday).

I also did choc and orange (sorry Stropps!) for ds's childminder (her birthday - I suspect her brothers ate it - she is one of six)

motherinferior · 22/07/2013 16:29

DD1 has vanished Grin or more accurately went swimming with one of her friends and is now allegedly 'eating chips in Lewisham town centre'. I am finding this v restful. As is DD2 who has come back from taking her music exams and is happily pottering around in front of the telly.

herbaceous · 22/07/2013 16:51

Chips? In this heat? She's made of stern stuff.

Was supposed to be mowing the lawn and clearing out the car (still contains sand from our holiday in November), but it's far too hot for that. And some blighter has parked outside our house, so I have to park across the street, and can't get the vacuum that far. Thank God.

DS is insisting on wearing a nylon pirate costume everywhere we go. He gets a bit sweaty.

Thanks for bikini props! I have got a bit of a mumtum, hattie, but was sucking it in for the photo! Not that I'm going to get much of a chance to wear the buggering thing - the weather forecast for next week in the west country is miles cooler, with showers. Perhaps I can pop it on for the spa, attached to posh hotel in the village.

motherinferior · 22/07/2013 17:05

DD1 is a 12 year old girl. They can consume chips at any time of day or night. She is adequately clad for the heat in a pair of Very Short Shorts inherited from the younger Schadenfreulein Grin

bigTillyMint · 22/07/2013 17:14

Batty riders, MI?Grin

DD is melting on her school trip in those leather-look leggings and crop top that she bought yesterday!

Spa sounds good, Herbs!

I am actually looking forward to some rain tomorrow!

motherinferior · 22/07/2013 17:16

I think they do cover perhaps a centimetre of thigh.

I definitely had children too late. My feeling these days is 'if you've got it, flaunt it, kid'. If I could prance around in short shorts and stuff myself with chips, I'd be out there.

Well, I could, obviously, but I suspect I would not be as aesthetically delightful as DD1.

bigTillyMint · 22/07/2013 17:21

DD looks amazing in a body-con dress - she has such a teeny waist and proper curves. I say go for it while you're youngSmile

beachyhead · 22/07/2013 17:32

Ha ha at batty riders.. That's what dd1 is sporting riding around the campsite in France. She's bought a couple of great body con skirts too, but I fear she may have to ride side saddle Grin

I have had a snooze on a deck chair outside my cabin. I am truly crepey, but very content as such.

motherinferior · 22/07/2013 17:35

My biker boots are apparently on their way. I shall surreptitiously dispose of the more knackered ones and pretend they never existed.

bigTillyMint · 22/07/2013 17:39

Envy at camping en France (twas our summer hol every year till last year - the DC decided that AI was the way to go) Whereabouts are you?

Yes, do that, MI, he will never noticeGrin

bigTillyMint · 22/07/2013 17:40

I am trying a new chocolate cake recipe for DD's birthday cake. She was adamant it had to be very moist (as if my cakes are dryAngry) but this one used 250ml milk and 250ml boiling water and still seems very damp so I am giving it an extra 5-10mins....

motherinferior · 22/07/2013 17:42

I have done rather well out of the sales.

Three pairs of shoes - two from mini-Boden Blush, silver sandals and little silver laceups - and one adorable pair of suede espadrilles; these boots; and a pair of Toast jeans (plus pair I ordered three sizes too big, now being sent to lovely mate in Sheffield). I will wear them all. A lot.

Stropperella · 22/07/2013 17:45

Dd refuses to flaunt, sadly. She also declares "shorts which your bum hangs out of" to be beyond the pale. Also won't wear her (long) shorts without tights. Even in this weather. Despite - or perhaps because of Hmm - me happily flubbering around in mine. I am looking forward to finding out if she has bought anything interesting/ revealing on her shopping trip in Southampton. She has so far always refused to wear a bikini, despite having an amazing hourglass figure, but was muttering about maybe buying one. Here's hoping.

I have recently purchased this one , which gives a bit more coverage and uplift than my other one. Which - having seen some photos of me in the old one - is a good idea. Blush

beachyhead · 22/07/2013 19:24

We are back at the same campsite we have been at since 2008... We made a brief foray into AI last year, but none of us enjoyed it as much as here, so we've come back. We have upgraded from a tent to a wooden mobile home though, which is great. We have our own loo and washing up facilities....
Dh excelled yesterday by doing the big French holiday supermarket shop and came back unknowingly with Sauvignon blanc called 'Crepuscule' Grin wish I could post a picture but phone won't allow...

Cremolafoam · 22/07/2013 19:40

Lol Beachy sounds perfect!
Where abouts are you?
(Needs vicarious description of French hols as we're missing out on our Charentais soujourn this yearSad)

bigTillyMint · 22/07/2013 19:44

My all-time favourite French beach holiday location is in Southern Brittany - South East of Concarneau. But the weather's more reliable around the Ile d'Oleron. Happy memoriesSmile

Cremolafoam · 22/07/2013 21:01

Ooh duchess has had a wee boy

MrsSchadenfreude · 22/07/2013 21:25

I am disappointed. I wanted her to have a girl.

The friends we visited yesterday live near a village called Crepy!

I am melting - it is still 30 degrees here and there is NO WIND. Am looking forward to my sojourn to the grey North Sea this weekend.

Stropperella · 22/07/2013 22:07

We have a chilly sea fog here. Um, is summer over now then? Bah, I knew I shouldn't have ordered those new sandals. Dd has returned from her shopping trip with a skater skirt and an even stronger dislike of batty riders. Grin

Dh is currently having a republican grump due to the disruption to his TV viewing.

CointreauVersial · 22/07/2013 22:44

Well, we crammed in one last BBQ this evening before tomorrow's forecasted thunderstorms. At least the crispy grass will get a drink ( and we will finally get to road-test our new guttering....ooh, the thrill).

It's a three day week for me - I'm taking Thursday and Friday off. Work is a little tedious at the moment, with not a lot going on. But I expect to spend my time off watching carpet fitters and assembling Ikea furniture for DS, so not much more exciting.

In health news, having finished my course of norethisterone I suffered a couple of days of the worst PMT-type symptoms imaginable (well, DH suffered the most, poor chap). I could literally feel the rage coursing through my veins. And now I'm getting signs of another period, which was to be expected, but I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed that it doesn't develop into another monster. MrsS, hope you are coming out the other side of yours.....

bigTillyMint · 23/07/2013 06:58

There was rain in the nightSmile and rain forecast all daySmile Too hot yesterday!

What's wrong with a boy, MrsS?!

Stropps, skater skirts are good. DD came home from her school trip with her ex-bf's huge sweatshirt on. In 30degreesConfused

CV, that was my world a couple of years ago (re periods!) Hence my love of HRT!

My little lovelies finished yesterday, we are packing up for the decorators today!

beachyhead · 23/07/2013 07:47

We are on the Ile de Re and have just had a massive thunderstorm Grin thank god we are not in a tent.

bigTillyMint · 23/07/2013 07:53

Oh no, beachy, I used to love thunderstorms in the tentGrin You have to be pretty sure of your tent though! I have never been to the Ile de Re (yet) but I hear it is lovelySmile

Cremolafoam · 23/07/2013 08:27

Ooh beachy re is lovely. Seen any donkeys in trousers yet?[[http://budgettraveller.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Donkeys-of-Ile-De-Re.jpg Grin]
I love the weather after a big Atlantic storm - usually fresher and clear blue skyGrin
Glad you have the cabin. Tenting in the wet is miserable.

Blackduck · 23/07/2013 08:29

Massive thunderstorm last night and this morning.
Ds suddenly asking lots of questions re 'coitus' (he watches far to much Big Bang Theory) - I pointed out a. he was a bit too young to be thinking about such things b. some questions are inappropriate and I will not be answering them

Agree with MrsS would have preferred a girl.....

Two more days to go here. Crawling to the finishing line....
