Honest opinion - ring looks like it wants to be a copy of K-Middy's engagement ring. Pretty but I'd want something more individual for my money.

Pseudonymity · 27/03/2013 13:07

I like the ring, it has a slight deco feel to it, which appeals to me. Would love to have an amazing dress ring like that. How on earth does one get a 50% discount on something like that?!

Also LOVE Amber's pumps.

Annianni · 27/03/2013 13:11

Now Amber's said that, all I can see is that ring.
Sorry Novice :o

Office customer services said that a store will do a straight swap for another size for me.
But my local store don't stock Hudson, and the Trafford Centre one won't answer their phone.

But i've just tried the boots on with my crop Hudson jeans, my skinny Hudson's and my Goldsign's and they all look fab.
So I need the boots :o

Annianni · 27/03/2013 13:12

Doesn't not don't... i'm not thick... honest...

FrugalFashionista · 27/03/2013 13:14

Yes emeralds v fragile Novice the ring is lovely, beautiful blue, the discount is tempting and I really believe in both investment & everyday jewelry but the tanzanite is the weak link. Mine did not only scratch deeply, it also fell off the setting. Recutting it is not recommended as they shatter easily, plus you lose carats and it won't fit the original setting easily. And repairs of this type are extortionate not cheap. Read this info first, then decide? Wish I had...

I love wearing big rings in my everyday life - just cooked salmon pasta wearing my rose quartz - and like semiprecious because you can be quite careless with them. The most dangerous moment is rooting for keys in your bag - that's how I damaged mine. I used to live somewhere where a lot of the stones are mined and bought them directly from a local artisan. So although I love them and feel that they are very unique, they were really inexpensive.

Too busy to post in detail but I've seen a lot of yellow combined with white and for some reason I associate that with Marsha . And so sorry about your hat Amber - is lost&found a possibility? I once left a fully stashed makeup bag on a plane but quite incredibly got it back via l&f. Plus a big hug to Shop - things will work out - plus you picked a great time to redo your wardrobe, you'll look super stylish for years with your current closet and can just take everything in stride. (Better things will turn up.) Good luck suit shopping!

MrsRadicchio · 27/03/2013 13:19

Wow, lots of links.

That shearling is lovely shop - I would be concerned about it not closing up though, and getting cold.

I like the Barbours too. Think I may look for that and a shearling / sheepskin coat next winter (if this one ever ends).

I'm not an expert on these things, but I also think you should be able to sell your Gina shoes, Shop. They look lovely and not too 'wedding-y'. An alternative to ebay could be one of those shops that sells things for you (a dress agency?). I sold my wedding shoes through one, they do take a cut but I don't think I would have sold them for as much through ebay. They were a pair of white heels by opening ceremony, so maybe less sellable on ebay than Gina shoes.

I just bought a metallic bag in the charity shop, £12.50 and it is a Michael Kors bag...may be my best bargain. Had been looking for a metallic bag for a while and had considered:

peony&moore

Sara Berman

Amber, I saw this on the peony and moore website and thought of your Sophie Hulme bag, in colour at least.

Also, your wishlist sent me looking at the Jemima Vine website, love the shoes.

I'd never heard of tanzanite. I am also not so keen on the ring novice but I do prefer less classic jewellery so it is not really my style. I feel like I have seen similar rings, maybe you could get one with a tougher stone?

MrsRadicchio · 27/03/2013 13:25

Zoe Karsson t I almost bought!

AmberNectarine · 27/03/2013 13:29

Have filled in a form Frugal so fingers crossed. I loved that hat. Only available in orange now which really isn't my colour!

MrsRadicchio · 27/03/2013 13:34

my wedding shoes

shopafrolic · 27/03/2013 13:48

Love those wedding shoes MrsR - intrigued to see your dress now.....

If anyone is a size 30 in jeans there are some bargain white J brand for £24.99 on tkmaxx www.tkmaxx.com/view-all-womenswear/white-denim-jeans/invt/04077703&bklist=icat,4,shop,1,0606

Decameron · 27/03/2013 13:52

I'm sure you'll sell those shoes easily, Shop, and good news about the interviews.

Hope you get the boots, Anni.

Good find on the bag, MrsR.

Sorry, Novice, I'm with Amber.

My wedding shoes are long gone, they were silver LK Bennett. I loved my dress, it is a very pale grey English Eccentrics evening dress with silver embroidery, really beautiful. It still fits almost 13 years on but I've never worn it since. I'm keeping it for the DDs, if they want it. It was on sale at the time for a couple of thousand but I got it for a few hundred as my friend worked for the designer.

BrandyAlexander · 27/03/2013 14:22

Thanks ladies, I really appreciate your honesty! Think I will pass. Sorry to drip feed but ummm there is actually a second piece of jewelry. It's a tennis bracelet and I can have it in 2, 4 or 6 carats. I was going to get the 2 but since i am not getting the ring, wondered about the 4. Can't find exact links but is 4 carat too blingy? Looks a bit like this....white gold four carat diamond tennis bracelet/?cmCat=PDPZ1

Again, I do know its a lot of money and the 4ct would be cheaper than the price you see on the link. Thank you. Blush

BrandyAlexander · 27/03/2013 14:23

Oh and I haven't robbed anywhere! Or know anyone who has!!!

Decameron · 27/03/2013 14:26

Now that is gorgeous, Novice!

Annianni · 27/03/2013 14:32

Love the bracelet Novice, get it bought :o

Can someone please remind me to go to the hairdressers later, i'm due at 6pm but I keep forgetting.

Bloody Office still aren't answering the bloody phone.
I might just go tomorrow and see for myself.

justasecond · 27/03/2013 14:44

No need to be embarrassed Novice its your money to spend however you like! I am no connoisseur of jewelry but much prefer bracelet to ring very understated.

QueenCadbury · 27/03/2013 14:45

novice gorgeous ring but seems an awful lot of money if it is likely to damage.

shop those gina shoes are gorgeous. If you don't wear them anymore then you may as well sell them. I still have my dress in the loft. Doubt it would ever sell for much as I did rip it with over zealous dancing! I purposely bought cheap shoes (£20 from bhs) as you couldn't see them and I knew I'd trash them so they were binned.

Loving the pink blouses links. Wish I could wear collars/high neck things.

shop my dh got his suits from john Lewis.

mrsr love that cobalt p&m and if it wasn't for the gold hardware I would buy it

amber did you have a cheeky pair of pop socks on??

My winter coat isnorth face

Went into town to return the hobbs necklace and buy a new black vest and because I saw some blue sky I optimistically also bought

shoes. Tried pointy ones on but decided they're too out there still for me. Give it another 6 months!

It's now snowing Grin.

So much for my self imposed spending ban. Am hoping that my neutrals are navy and grey when I have my colours done and my wardrobe is now looking desperate for some added colour.

QueenCadbury · 27/03/2013 14:47

Just seen the bracelet novice. Much prefer that. Buy!

AmberNectarine · 27/03/2013 14:50

Kill joy, but I don't like Tennis bracelets either! Had one, again bought by ex, sold it because it was no not me. He used to do that all the time, expensive jewellery with no thought to what I actually liked. I think the engagement ring should have been a tip off that it wasn't going to work I almost died of boredom

AmberNectarine · 27/03/2013 14:51

Sacrilege QueenC, I don't do pop socks! I do cold feet making me want to cry.

MrsRadicchio · 27/03/2013 14:53

Meant to say, anni, I also like that cardi but would also be worried about ruining it in the washing machine. I think you should be able to find something similar in cotton though. Will have a look when not on phone.

Shop, I will see if I can find my wedding dress, it was actually v simple long white dress, Richard Nicoll for asos! Wedding was quite low key, reg office then pub reception.

Novice, I also prefer bracelet. Don't apologise, it is nice to shop vicariouslly!

winefairy · 27/03/2013 14:53

Would love to spend that much on a piece of jewellery but I'd be looking for a tiara complete with titleship for that! I'm such a Scrooge. Ring is really lovely but agree about the K-Middy comparison. On phone now and can't open bracelet.

AmberNectarine · 27/03/2013 14:55

Obviously my taste is totally irrelevant and novice should get something lovely!

justasecond · 27/03/2013 14:56

Speaking of pointy flats I finally got round to digging out my old pointy flats yesterday and found an amazing pair of LK Bennett ones from around 10 years ago. They are cream leather with a canvas bit on top that is cream with yellow and green floral pattern. LK B prices have really gone up in the last 10 years as I bought them for £29 reduced from £89.99 full price, would be so much more now. All the other pointy flats at back of cupboard not so useful the points are really long and thin and dated looking.
