Time for a new bra thread

I am officially a mad bra lady. I staged an intervention today in M&S in an attempt to stop a young lady buying a 36B. She was with her mum who told me her daughter was a size 12 and that's why they'd picked up a 36. I advised her to try a 30! I am now feeling a mixture of shame and pride.

They were like this Shock Confused

Give them a shot Silverstar2, and if you find the smaller back works you will be able to adjust the DaisyChain and Juna so they aren't wasted.

StatisticallyChallenged · 24/02/2013 17:56

Don'tCallMeBaby, I think all sports bras are like that. I'm a 30 who occasionally needs 28s. My Freya sports bra is a 32 and is very tight, I could easily wear a 34. Shock Absorbers likewise

Silverstar2 · 24/02/2013 18:18

Well I did think about it - for all of 5 mins, lol, and have just order a 34G and 34GG Persia Balconette (didn't someone up thread mentioned those?) from My Curves and Me. On sale at £14 each with free delivery, so not too bad.

We will see.

My poor bank account!!!

Thanks again SC, I appreciate your advice.

StatisticallyChallenged · 24/02/2013 18:21

I'm waiting on a Persia arriving - I have read somewhere that the back on it comes up small so don't worry if it seems a little neat!

OneLittleLady · 24/02/2013 18:29

Bought a couple of cheapie primark bras until my order of curvy kate appears in the post. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they actually fit. I know they won't last but they will do until my 'proper' bras arrive.

Kernowgal · 24/02/2013 18:29

I'm getting really fed up with all the nice sexy bras having a bit of push-up padding in the base of the cup. Why does everything have to be push-up? M&S I'm looking at you STERNLY. I want sexy bras without the push-up!

Kernowgal · 24/02/2013 18:30

Also didn't know about the leaning forward to measure thing - makes sense really.

StatisticallyChallenged · 24/02/2013 18:33

I'm not a huge fan of M&S bras for bigger cups Kernowgal (have never had small boobs lol) - I just didn't find them very well made at all.

AnyFucker · 24/02/2013 18:34

ah, KG, I like the push up stuff

my boobs need it Smile

ComeAlongPond · 24/02/2013 19:00

I am also all for push up stuff! It's quite hard to find (outside of M&S) padded bras in a D cup, even if you're only a 28D so still small. Probably part of the 'd cup is massive' mentality.

AnyFucker · 24/02/2013 19:03

CAP, if you get that M+S bra, let me know what you think Smile

Kernowgal · 24/02/2013 19:09

I'd just like to have the option - it seems you either have the option of no padding (which usually gives me weird pointy boobs) and therefore no push-up, or padded bra with push-up. There's no just-plain-padded, whereas there always used to be. I don't mind a little bit, but some of them are just outrageous!

Kernowgal · 24/02/2013 19:09

And now I'm going to have to start looking at Figleaves and Leia. Damn you MN!

AnyFucker · 24/02/2013 19:10

ComeAlongPond · 24/02/2013 19:15

The one you linked to? I tried it on today but decided against it. The cups were quite full so sort of encased my boobs rather than giving me any cleavage - I preferred this one which gave a better lift for me. It was very nice though for everyday, gave a nice shape under clothes and was comfy and pretty, so if I hadn't had such limited funds I probably would have gone for your one too.

I also tried this which was really nice. I got this too because it fit really well and is great for under a low cut dress that I have. I'm not hugely keen on the colour, it's a bit bright, but beggars can't be choosers and I'm prepared to sacrifice aesthetics for fit at this stage. I now have a grand total of, wait for it, THREE BRAS that fit properly. And one's a strapless. Think I'm going to be spending most of my spare money on bras for the next couple of months!

ComeAlongPond · 24/02/2013 19:18

Sorry, x-post. That was to AF.

Debenhams had some padded, non-push up bras when I was in there I think Kernowgal, but I may have been looking at smaller sizes to you.

SorrelForbes · 24/02/2013 19:23

Kernowgal My current 'go to' lightly padded bra is the Cleo Juna. I'm a 30G if that helps.

ComeAlongPond That first link is lovely. But... what a rubbish range of sizes.

This is what M&S offers in my size.

Kernowgal · 24/02/2013 19:27

I tried that light blue Limited Collection one too, it was nice but didn't do me any favours shape-wise. I loooooove the silky one in the first link, but whatever size I tried on, it just didn't fit.

I'm a 34-36 C-D depending on manufacturer and style, and I like Debenhams' styles. Got a Floozie set in the sale (£8 for bra AND pants!) which is very cute. Tried a lovely longline bra on in M&S but the side boning came up way too high into my armpit. Have tried others that are much lower and much more comfortable.

M&S also had a lovely pink and grey (sounds minging but actually fab) set but typically didn't have my size in the bra. So will be keeping an eye out for that one in another outlet.

AnyFucker · 24/02/2013 19:32

CAP, I see what you got and it looks nice

I can't do "cleavage" bras though. I need vertical lift Smile

M+S is crap for bigger cups, I do agree

StatisticallyChallenged · 24/02/2013 19:41

ARGH Sorrel, even the model on that first padded plunge is wearing the wrong blooming bra.

ComeAlongPond · 24/02/2013 19:47

Yeah, their size selection is rubbish. I wish they'd get their act together because they have some really pretty bras.

NorthernNumpty · 24/02/2013 19:54

What I don't get is why a lot of bras only start at a 30 back. If you are a size 8-10 you must be a 28 or less. Why are bras made so big? I suppose it's the myth that everyone thinks they are a 34b, so that's what the shops stock.

AnyFucker · 24/02/2013 19:55

Huh !

Lots of ranges start at a 34 fgs

I used to think I was a 34. No longer.

NorthernNumpty · 24/02/2013 19:59

AF I was basing it on the perusal of the debenhams DD+ section on their website. I am sure you are right though. It seems impossible that if you are not slim you would be in the smallest bra a shop stocks?!
