Who actually wears Next?

There is nothing that redeems that place these days. Even the shoes, which were once interesting, are mostly stripper shoes now. The clothes seeme to be aimed at the same demographic as Karen Millen etc but the people in there are much older. Quality is AWFUL - I remember the first Next Directory with its lovely swatches of wool suit fabrics etc. Jeans go massive and/or fray instantly.

Is it goingthe way of M&S? Ie tonnes of clothing but no target market and thus no customers?

Have to admit that most of their stuff is frumpy. I've even gone off the kids clothes and prefer H&M for dd's stuff.

Stripper shoes are everywhere, not just Next. You have to go up a price range to find nice non-platform shoes. Their shoes have always been awful though and you have to be very selective. Next are pretty meh but then I find almost every high street shop the same.

Saying that I just got 2 pairs of shorts in the sale for next years summer hols. Think you have to look really hard!

I have bought my DD some things in there but to be honest they have shrunk after 1 wash.... Mainly buy her stuff from H&M now.

Not sure about that jacket maureen but the top and boots are nice.

I like their tights .

DD has a plain black coat for school from there; and their petite range (plain things like skinny jeans/leggings fit her perfectly and have been very good quality). I bought a very nice, very plain, mid thigh length linen tunic in a just darker than royal blue in the summer and have been very pleased with it but it was relatively expensive for the high street and Next.

On the whole though I don't like it much and never have - but it's a convenient shop to dive into on the way to and from work.

How do you stop people giving you Next vouchers for your birthday if they buy them thinking you still shop there because you did 10 years ago?

I hate the shops, they way they lay stuff out makes no sense to me and they are too dark.

My 11year old looked at the top and hoody she liked in the catalogue, yesterday.

She shook her head and told me to find her something else for Xmas.

The hoody was a washed out grey, not denim blue like the picture, with scruffy lettering and dirty cream fleece in the hood.

The top was scratchy plastic.

Everything we saw in H&M and Debenham's was nicer.

Their sizes are too big for me now. I haven't lost weight, but look almost emaciated in the same size now.

I have jeans because they fit...everything else is meh though. I don't really look in there any more!

DW was around when the Next KHS Flagship Store opened - it was fantastic. A lovely waiter-only cafe and bits of jewellery presented in proper glass cases! Very pukka and smart. It's quite telling because we have a NEXT very close by and DW only ever goes in there if she's looking for weekend shoes for DD (who has very narrow feet) - it's become very chavvy which it never used to be!

I rarely buy from there nowadays for myself - however their lift & shape jeans are excellent - they do exactly that & keep their shape very well.

I get a lot of kids stuff there too
