Who actually wears Next?

There is nothing that redeems that place these days. Even the shoes, which were once interesting, are mostly stripper shoes now. The clothes seeme to be aimed at the same demographic as Karen Millen etc but the people in there are much older. Quality is AWFUL - I remember the first Next Directory with its lovely swatches of wool suit fabrics etc. Jeans go massive and/or fray instantly.

Is it goingthe way of M&S? Ie tonnes of clothing but no target market and thus no customers?

My sum total of Next purchases - two summer dresses, one t-shirt, one pair of sandals.

The DDs (9 and 11) are big fans of Next; they find Boden/M&S a bit too babyish on the whole. I buy less than I used to, but still find a couple of decent items every season. I always buy a huge bundle of stuff in the Sale (online, of course; I'm not one of those 5am nutters) and usually end up with a couple of gems - most recently I bought a lace mini and a lovely Zara-alike collarless fitted tweedy jacket. Home stuff is nice too.

If you choose wisely there are lovely classic items in there (I have several items doing sterling service in my wardrobe after several years), but as with many stores you have to pick through a fair amount of rubbish to find the best stuff. Polyester is everywhere at the moment due to high cotton/wool prices.

The icing on the cake with Next is the fact that you can order online and it arrives the next morning, and if I phone my nice courier lady she comes back to the house to take away the unwanted stuff too. As I am a Busy Person this is invaluable.

So nerrr.....I wear Next.
