You'll be bouncing off the walls, Ruby.

Do they still sell Resolve? A sachet of that was always my go-to remedy for the morning after. And it tastes so disgusting it's a kind of punishment.

Itwillendinsmiles - I hope your DH enjoys the Box Hill cycling. We live about half a mile from the Box Hill circuit, so we are getting ready for Olympic lock-down next weekend. We haven't bothered with tickets but figure we will walk down and see if we can find a spare inch of grass verge. I predict the DCs will have a massive sense of humour failure at the thought of being stuck on a dusty roadside for several hours, but there you go, once in a lifetime, and all that....

"Anyway, we all know that alcohol belongs in a glass not in bloody hair products" - sidsmisses you are going to fit right in round here :)

I have tomorrow off as have to get ds to school and back (dp has swanned off to Chile for two weeks), I am slumped on bed having rounded up an entire school libraries worth of books to be returned (we are working on the principle ds will not be going back there in Sept, but they are keeping him on roll just in case!!)

TheReturnOfStropperella · 19/07/2012 21:30

Ds is doing his best to ensure that we will all go and sit on Weymouth beach at some point during the sailing events. There are giant screens on the beach showing the sailing events to the ticketless plebs (like us). Also, ds wants to go and see Nowhere island arrive and take part in the Cultural Olympiad stuff. Apparently some artist type wants everyone to go and stand on a cliff and ring a bell at 7.45am on the opening day of the Olympics. Ds thinks this would be an excellent thing to do. I do not. But I am beginning to feel guilty about my lack of enthusiasm. Perhaps I should find a bell...

TheReturnOfStropperella · 19/07/2012 22:00

I should not have had Wine . I have now become a citizen of Nowhere Island, apparently. So I will have to go and ring ma bell on the cliff next week, no excuses. Ds will be pleased. (Don't think dh will be amused as we have shedloads of work in for next week and it is all deadlines-a-go-go).

I had a massage today. I had tennis elbow two years ago, despite not playing tennis, but it did lead me to discover that a good massage is one of life's pleasures!

MrsSchadenfreude · 19/07/2012 22:09

Advice, please, Hags. DD1 has a boil on her boob that needs popping. She won't squeeze it herself because it hurts, and won't let me squeeze it either. Quoi faire? It looks like she has sprouted an extra nipple.

MrsSchadenfreude · 19/07/2012 22:10

A green one.

oldqueenie · 19/07/2012 22:11

very hot flannel as hot as she can bear, hold firmly on offending area. repeat as necessary until the bugger pops...

TheReturnOfStropperella · 19/07/2012 22:13

Sit in v. hot bath whilst applying v. hot flannel. This sometimes speeds up the process.

MrsSchadenfreude · 19/07/2012 22:23

She won't do the hot flannel thing. "It might hurt." I have told her that there is no helping some people and she should have a nurofen and go to bed. If it's worse tomorrow and she still won't pop it, the doctor will have to do it.

oldqueenie · 19/07/2012 22:49

harsh but fair mrs s!

Ruby - I have happy memories of watching the Beijing Olympics from our villa in Lucca. It was very therapeutic, slumped on the sofa at siesta time watching the weight lifting.

MrsS - don't mention boils on MN - you'll attract all sorts of undesireable pus-porn attention (but hope DD gets better; sounds mighty painful).

Poor DD1, MrsS.

I have day off for DD1's Last Day of Primary. And have also realised she is brighter than her mum Blush as it was her report not her SATs report I read, and she has in fact got 5s across the board, which is particularly nice as her maths has been on Highway To Hell in past years.

Dropped ds and the Pile of school books off, now have the hoovering and tidying to do...
Weird day as we are not sure if it will be ds's last day or not, feel a bit sorry for him actually.
Off to lunch with friend and then collect ds at 2.00....

Ruby we are as positive as we can be, but after the last experience and reading the property/DIY threads on here I won't believe it until I physically hand the keys on to someone else :)
Yes, we were so pleased about the school thing too, just hope it wasn't a flash in the pan :)
Meanwhile dp is somewhere between here and Chile I believe so I have 12 days of ds and the hound...

herbaceous · 20/07/2012 10:32

DS is on first 'school trip' today - to a wildlife park with the nursery. And, of course, it's raining. This is making me sad. As is the fact that he was all nervous this morning, and not wanting to go. He will of course have a great time, but it's hard to convince a three-year-old of future gratification.

In S&B news, I'm toying with the idea of a fitflop. I have collapsing feet, with metatarsal arches that hurt after any length of time walking. Are these acceptable, do we think? Or in the 'mink'?

Blackduck · 20/07/2012 10:37

Oh Herbs, I like them!

Cremolafoam · 20/07/2012 10:40

Oh just found you all crepeys.
My neck qualifies on its own. Not so much crepey as crimped today.
Am proud owner of 4 pairs if glasses which I do the on offonoff thing all day long. It's exhausting.
Also make a small whiney noise when
I move( any part of my bod)
