Afternoon crepeys !
Reporting from the scorched earth that is Charente maritime . Vvv hot but lilac legs are now not knowingly lilac so not quite a sight for sore eyes.
Get well soon mr strops. Poor strops juniorSad not getting to cuddle dad on sofa. Hope everything continues to go well.

Got my haircut yesterday and it's quite good mrs s . The coiffure was very patient with my slightly panicky look and sand blown hair. Went out for a big birthday dinner last night with a view over the setting sun. Chargrilled sardines, and a peach meringue tarte with raspberry sauce. OMGGrin

HappySmile

bigTillyMint · 11/08/2012 17:08

Charente Maritime! Whereabouts are you Cremola? Camping or more upmarket?

oldqueenie · 11/08/2012 18:35

hmm. can't really compete with all these exotic holidays my crepey ones... but am off to Suffolk for two weeks tomorrow (a recurring destination for us!) which will be lovely if v v tame... at least the dog will be in heaven. There's very little to do and if we all go for a swim in the sea of a morning that feels like quite enough excitement for one day and I can spend the rest of the day lolling, reading and drinking tea / gin.
Hope all goes well for Mr Stropps and his recovery. Does he glow in the dark? Could be handy on a camping trip...

S&B news: I have bought a new lipstick (had Selfridges freebie): Bobbi Brown Burnt Red. May go wild and buy a Poppy King one too.

herbaceous · 12/08/2012 10:55

Further S&B news: I bought those yellow fitflops, reduced to £40 from £80, and then wore them for two-mile hike through Hyde Park yesterday. This would have been unwise with most new shoes, but they were So Comfortable. Marvellous.

Holiday news: just booked an apartment, set around two pools, in 180 acres of olive groves, 30 minutes from Malaga airport. MMMMMMMmmmmm.

Olympic news: what the hell was bugging Mo's wife last night? He'd just won two golds, and she looked like she was pissed off she'd missed the last bus home. I shall forgive her, however, if she was in the early stages of labour.

motherinferior · 12/08/2012 11:08

She's expecting twins, she was out late and she probably needed a wee, poor love.

herbaceous · 12/08/2012 11:09

I know, I know... but still. She could have cracked a smile, rather than saying 'that's all very well, dear, but can we go now.'

bigTillyMint · 12/08/2012 12:18

Herbs, your hol sounds great.

I didn't see Mo's wife yesterday - having to watch Al Jazeera sports. Makes you realise how wonderful the BBC is. And I am missing Colin Jackson et al.
What will we watch tomorrow though? Wall-to-wall Disney Channel if the DC have their way Sad

Blackduck · 12/08/2012 15:55

I am :( and Envy at all this talk of holidays....

motherinferior · 12/08/2012 16:35

I am very tired because I stayed up footling around on the internet last night Blush

I have written 1,000 words today but I bet MrsS has written a million, AND cooked fabulous food and is now washing down another bottle of vino....

CointreauVersial · 12/08/2012 17:06

Well, I've done nothing all day except stress about everything that needs to be done before (a) our festival weekend, and (b) our holiday. With DD2's birthday sandwiched somewhere in between.

I have Made A List, though. That's a start.

motherinferior · 12/08/2012 20:03

I have finished another 500 words, making 1,500 words in all which is pretty good for me, and am going to have a Wine Grin

OK, Crepeys, I need help for a feature again. NOT as glam as the one BTM contributed to, but you'd still get a tenner's worth of vouchers (for leading pharmacy that rhymes with Roots) out of it... I need a few brief quotes - with pic - of someone who's saying 'thank you' for anything like a lift to work, or a beauty tip (friend's thanking her daughter for showing her how to use false eyelashes!), or dragging you out to exercise. Am going INSANE with it. PM me, any kindly victims...????

Cremolavelodrome · 14/08/2012 12:13

Mi love to help but still away on hols.
Back at the weekend so maybe I can help thenSmile
Still scorchio here in France - hoping for a big thunderstorm tonight- phew wipes brow - 38• Hmm

Wine hic!
In other fashion news:
Number of Breton tops acquired - 2
Number of sandals bought- 1 ( flip flops melted )
Number of times I wish I had bought fit flops ? 100

Back down to earth and abject poverty v soon
Biscuit

Crem

Blackduck · 14/08/2012 12:20

MI I am not even going to offer as the thought of seeing a photo of myself in print makes me shudder :)

Creme - oh for some heat here! We are back to rain - now there's a surprise.

Still no house exchange - dp is going slowly mad, buyer's father (who needs to arrange deposit) is on holiday in China - hey don't mind us, we just have a house to pack up, a removal company to book, a child to get into school......

On S&B news I bought the blue dress from seasalt, but could do with losing an inch off my bust as it is a tad tight, nice though......

Fit Flops are the biz - perfect for every holiday outing - I have barely taken my trusty pair off.

Ruby, you got paralympics tickets? We got athletics finals. It is really bugging us that the media are saying it's all over - what about the paralympians? Apparently they don't count...

Ooh Envy We are mourning the end mainly because it was the only thing on TV here worth watching and just caught the end of the Closing ceremony this morning.

motherinferior · 14/08/2012 18:46

I have exploited other friends Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 14/08/2012 21:13

Oooh! Oooh! Cremola - we went to St Palais last year! Loved it, but huge plague of ladybirds and it was like swimming in ladybird soup.

I am Stuck with my writing and have had an email reminding me that the deadline is less than a month away...

MrsSchadenfreude · 14/08/2012 21:16

...and I am only one fifth of the way through the minimum length (it has to be 30,000 words).

Cremolavelodrome · 16/08/2012 18:04

Wow so glad you liked st pal mrs S. we love it and I did hear about the ladybird plague last year from dmum. Weirdly it happened here in the 70s too and I remember trying to keep them as pets in polystyrene ice cream boxes!
Just left this morning and still v hot. Now in Cherbourg and it is raining and I have had to dig out my Breton jumper.

Keep up the writing- you'll be fine. < encouraging cheer>

Re Paralympics - the same thing happened in Sydney after the Olympics there was a big outcry about lack of meeja coverage. I was working at the Olympic park that time and the Paralympics were SO SO brilliant - another amazing opening ceremony and so many real sporting heros.
Tis a shameHmm

motherinferior · 16/08/2012 20:07

We had a beauty sale at work today...

...and I leapt on the cheapo Hedrin Grin Grin

I did also score some Touche Eclat which turned to be entirely the wrong colour (but exactly right for a friend who had texted me saying her baby and toddler got her up SIX TIMES last night so I've dropped it round to her) and various bright red nail varnishes, and stuff like hand cream and an exciting waterflosser thingy and so on and so forth so am happy bunny. Just as well as am rabid with premenstrual exhaustion.
