I had a feeling it was imminent. Here's hoping they DO have a bed and you are not delayed. Am keeping everything crossed here - Try not to worry about the dcs - sure they will be fine.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 09/08/2012 09:11

Thanks ruby and BD. Have just spoken to the hospital and it's all systems go for today. TBH, I thought it was unlikely that they would cancel in this case as they have to specially order the expensive radioactive bits and pieces for this procedure from Seattle (!!) and there is a time limit for usage (or so we were given to understand), so I figured that the bean-counters would do their best to ensure that his slot wouldn't be postponed - but you never know these days.

Cremolavelodrome · 09/08/2012 11:22

All thé best to your dh Strops. Hope it all goes well for him. Hope you are ok too
Smile

bigTillyMint · 09/08/2012 12:26

Good Luck Stropps and DH - hope everything goes to plan. How brave of you to be home alone - have you got some good friends to come round and distract you with a glass or two of wine tonight?

Yes, thanks ruby. Dh rang me this afternoon as soon as he was back from surgery, sounding very woozy and quite happy :) He texted several times this evening as well. He will have a CT scan tomorrow to make sure that all the radioactive bits are in the right place and then I hope he will be discharged. He gets a special card to say he is radioactive as he will now set off the detectors in airports. Grin

I went to circuits tonight and am now going to have a nice, long bath, some chamomile tea and a (relatively) early night.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 09/08/2012 22:21

And thanks to all for the good wishes for today. Dh was bizarrely chuffed this morning when I passed on all the Crepey good luck messages Grin

oldqueenie · 09/08/2012 22:57

strops, sorry this passed me by and very glad to hear all seems to have gone well.... fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.

CointreauVersial · 09/08/2012 23:05

Been away for a couple of days.....glad to hear your DH's op went OK, Strops. So he has radioactive guts?? Or is it nuts? Grin

BTM - 50 Shades? You norty girl. Wink

Blackduck · 10/08/2012 06:52

Stropps glad to hear the good news, and loving the radioactive card :)

bigTillyMint · 10/08/2012 15:56

Sounds good StroppsSmile Keep us posted on updates.

50 Shades is rather disappointing - Jilly Cooper meets BPD/OCD/EA... but I will plough on a bit further in the interests of research. In between Caitlin Moran's How to be a Woman Grin

TheReturnOfStropperella · 10/08/2012 17:08

Blimey BTM, I didn't have you down as a masochist: 50 shades AND Caitlin Moran? The Moran makes my teeth itch and I can't be doing with Mill&Boon does S&M. Go for the proper filth, I say Grin . I used to have rather a large (ahem) collection, but had to get rid of most of it when my children proved to be avid readers from a v. young age. Blush

Dh is back home now, but has been warned that the next 10-12 days are rather crucial as this is period when the likelihood of severe side effects is at its greatest. He is quite chirpy at the moment and hugely relieved the procedure is over, although he did not have hugely uplifting convos with his fellow patients on the ward as two of them were terminal. Sad

Apparently the radiation dose that I will receive from sharing a bed with him is "within acceptable limits", but no children under the age of puberty should stay within a metre of him for any length of time, so ds cannot share a sofa with him for 3 months.

So - fingers crossed the treatment works.

Blackduck · 10/08/2012 17:16

Oh Stropps fingers crossed for the next 10 days... Don't you love medical speak 'acceptable limits' does sound similar treatment to what dp's uncle had done (fairly new then), and it worked a treat.

Oh poor ds, that would be really tough on my ds...
Glad he's home - have a good weekend

TheReturnOfStropperella · 10/08/2012 21:57

Wine Wine Wine

beachyhead · 11/08/2012 09:23

Good luck for the next 10 days, Mr Stropps..... Hopefully it will be good weather so he can be outside and his radioactivity can waft off...

Just finished Heartburn by Nora Ephron, which I loved...

motherinferior · 11/08/2012 11:34

Good luck, Stroppissima.

I am very very much in need of a holiday but have another week at work. On the other fabulous hand, my fellow-inmates of the Inferiority Complex are off to do hippy t'ai chi for a week (snigger - in fairness Mr Inferior is apparently a whizz at t'ai chi. Or perhaps a slow would be more accurate? Has done it for decades*). I have already made the organic chicken liver pate nobody else likes, and stashed it in the fridge....

*I suspect it used to be quite a good way to meet Gurls Wink

motherinferior · 11/08/2012 11:35

And I am going to go and read a mass of books about 19th century Anglo-Indian domesticity in the British Library this afternoon. Rock and roll journalism, innit.

Stropps, great news about your DH - figers crossed next 10 days are an easy ride.
I downloaded the Caitlin Moran on recommendation of two good friends, but I have to say I agree with you - the preachy style after the entertaining bit about her yoof is rather irritating to say the least and I am skim reading that bit!
Maybe Nora Ephron would be more my style.

Am quite enjoying the carrying no money concept of the AI, though I could do with it being a fraction less hot, especially as I am used to rainy Brittany in the summerSmile

Blackduck · 11/08/2012 13:42

Hi all, I hated the Moran book, 'oh look at me, I got drunk with Lady Gaga'.....
We are packing (despite no exchange...) in the vain hope it may happen, I have emptied the contents of numerous jars and bottles down the sink, and cleared out the bathroom. If we don't move I think dp will have a heart attack........
Ho hum, back to the kitchen.
