Stone Roses gig - what do I wear!

Very excited about seeing the Stone Roses at Heaton Park this weekend, but having a total style crisis. So, here I am, nearly 40, 2 dcs, live in jeans and converse (not even skinnies) - and this is probably my last chance to relive my twenties!

Given the fact that it will probably pour with rain, please give me inspiration!

I bailed out as I didn't fancy standing in mud so DH went with a mate. He said central Manchester was full of middle aged scallies in wellies. They drove and there was loads of parking. It took an hour to get a drink and the crowds were 70 deep to get to the bar, apparently it was a nightmare people were getting crushed and it got a bit dicey a few times with people kicking off.

Iain Brown was out of tune, which I won't mention next time I bump into him in the garden centre. He was glad he went but said he wouldn't bother with another gig at Heaton Park again.

TequilaMockinBird · 30/06/2012 15:46

DH has agreed I can wear his Barbour. Sooooo I now look like a farmer - Barbour jacket, jeans and Wellies. Hair is down, I'll be on the lookout for MNers!

SiameseIfYouPlease · 30/06/2012 16:17

Oo I'm looking forward to The Wailers now! notmost where did your DH park? If in the park and ride, was it a reasonable queue for the ride back? Or I might go find charlottebrontesaurus' street.. I've just read some horrible tales of walks back into town as the queues were crazy for the tram.

I've just got myself a cute poncho and embraced not being 20 something anymore..

We're here. Sun is shining. Holly cook is playing. Sat at the back In the pit near the far left speaker column Grin

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 30/06/2012 17:02

I drove around Prestwich last night and there were loads of spaces on the back streets.

TequilaMockinBird · 30/06/2012 17:34

I'm in the Heaton park pub/premier inn carpark. Will be going across in time for The Wailers!

lamandler · 30/06/2012 21:20

Loving the updates. Going from London tomorrow am to city centre hotel first then a bar or two before going to park. Had to buy big feck off farmers wellies today as my cheapo hunters didn't arrive on time.

Planning jeans, mahoosive wellies, stripe tunic top and primary raincoat in a bag. May also swipe dh's warm raincoat.

Good tips about alcohol smuggling thank you Wink

Saturday night people, keep me posted!

Fuck yeah
Phone dying will post Tomorrow Grin

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 01/07/2012 10:35

We were quite lucky with the rain, tonight's people might not be so lucky.

I am in so much pain in varying places today from so much standing and walking.

I did some very un-mnetty things last night. Blush

bronze · 01/07/2012 11:02

Unnamed you did drink a fruit shoot did you?

Wasn't you waving her tits round next to me was it?

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 01/07/2012 11:08

No to fruit shoot but equally chemical.

No to tits but I did inadvertently flash my fanny.

I pissed myself. (intentionally)

bigbadbarry · 01/07/2012 11:18

She was also very mumsnrt kind to us and gave us a lovely cup of tea while we politely ignored her squelchy wellies :) Thank you protagonist :)

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 01/07/2012 11:39

Bigbadbarry and DH got landed at mine while their friend copped off Grin

Mumsnet is great!

KatieScarlett2833 · 01/07/2012 11:42

I'm listening to them now.

They are great.

mysteryfairy · 01/07/2012 14:02

I grew up just north of the park and am going tonight, parking on a former neighbour's drive. This is a really non stylish question, but bit hazy on the layout. Last big gig I saw at the park was the (previous) Pope and I've barely been back to North Manchester in 20 years. Did anyone local notice would it be possible to enter/leave the park by the St Margaret's entrance?

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 01/07/2012 14:06

You can get in that way but you're better off sticking to the main entrances. I don't think they want you to go in that way. The main entrances are opposite St Monica's.

mysteryfairy · 01/07/2012 14:09

Thanks. It's going to feel like a trek at the end!

It's now really chilly in Yorkshire, just wondering what more layers I can add before we get going.

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 01/07/2012 14:24

I walked it back last night from Sainsburys to thatch leach lane. I am fucked today.

TequilaMockinBird · 01/07/2012 18:54

We were back in the hotel by 11.30 thanks to the shuttle buses.

It was an amazing night! I wasn't really looking forward to it that much if I'm honest, and was very tempted to see how much the touts would give me for my ticket, especially as the heavens opened just as we were walking in!

So pleased I went though, the atmosphere was brilliant and I didn't think Ian Brown sounded too bad. Although I may have had a couple of bottles glasses of wine by the time they came on.

I didn't think much of Beady Eye though tbh!

HmmThinkingAboutIt · 01/07/2012 18:56

Friend picked up a ticket for £20 last night. Which means the touts would be unlikely to have been giving much more than five - ten pounds for a ticket.

TequilaMockinBird · 01/07/2012 19:06

£20? Shock

bigbadbarry · 01/07/2012 19:18

Eurgh, we weren't home until 3 :(
Beady Eye were not impressive. I also thought Ian Brown sounded ok and I was stone-cold sober.

bronze · 01/07/2012 19:30

Agree he sounded good. Very impressed. I fucking love it
Beady eye meh

We shuttle bussed it too which was actually fun as we were stood with a bunch of lairy singing Scots

KenDoddsDadsDog · 04/07/2012 09:53

Going tomorrow - did you get covered in flying piss? I'm worried.

TequilaMockinBird · 04/07/2012 12:25

We stood at the back so didn't get covered, could see the plastic glasses of it being thrown around in front of us though!
