Stone Roses gig - what do I wear!

Very excited about seeing the Stone Roses at Heaton Park this weekend, but having a total style crisis. So, here I am, nearly 40, 2 dcs, live in jeans and converse (not even skinnies) - and this is probably my last chance to relive my twenties!

Given the fact that it will probably pour with rain, please give me inspiration!

Oops x-posted, I'm a bit slow Blush

We should all wear something which distinguishes us as MNers!

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 27/06/2012 17:45

Handbag, There are some groups on fb. I'll PM you.

rocketupbum · 27/06/2012 19:01

Ooh I am going with DH on Friday, cannot bloody wait. I have been torturing the DC with stone roses singing for weeks.
Also planning to wear wellies/ boots, leggings shorts and top and a massive waterrproof! Hoping to head into town after to continue the party vibe. may leave some slightly cooler shoes at DH office to do seamless change from mud bath babe to cool girl about town (not sure a pair of shoes lone will achieve this but worthy try!)
Have a fab time everyone

lamandler · 27/06/2012 21:18

Lost track, am I the only one going on Sunday? We are having night away so staying in city centre Sunday night. Will there be stuff open after the gig?

As if I will be still upright

HmmThinkingAboutIt · 27/06/2012 21:28

By stuff open, do you mean bars?

TBH it depends on how long its going to take you to get back into the city.

Oasis was a complete nightmare. Park and ride was terrible and poorly organised. Not enough buses. Traffic management in general was terrible. I know people who walked back to the city...

I think the gig finished around 10.30pm. I live 1/2 hour drive away. I wasn't hope much before 2am.

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 27/06/2012 23:06

Stone Roses has to finish by 11 due to the noise laws I believe. I'll be walking home.

FYP · 27/06/2012 23:26

I thought about what to wear and thought about asking on here!

Grr at Friday people AngryEnvy

HmmThinkingAboutIt · 28/06/2012 08:44

Well the forecast said the rain would be back on Thursday, and it would rain until Tuesday.

Already had a few good downpours this morning...

RationalBrain · 28/06/2012 19:19

Earplugs? I saw Ian brown at reading too many years ago and he was utterly out of tune. Still, it will be worth it just to see the stone roses Envy

SiameseIfYouPlease · 29/06/2012 05:40

I'm going on Sunday. Would driving be ridiculous? Any idea if there's enough parking if I showed up at 5 ish? I was excited until I saw the forecast. :(

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 29/06/2012 07:16

There is NO parking! You have to do the park & ride which is at Bowlee. It sounds a ballache.

ZillionChocolate · 29/06/2012 07:35

I saw them in foreign a couple of weeks ago. Definitely suggest you wear something beer proof. Primark have some quite nice ponchos for £9 ish but they will blow around in the wind and leave your forearms exposed.

Have a great time everyone!

ineedamiracle · 29/06/2012 08:15

Working at all three concerts. I'll be wearing combats and a green "medical team" tshirt Sad I need me some wellies pronto Smile

DawnOfTheDee · 29/06/2012 08:18

I'm going on friday. As i still haven't lost all the baby weight yet (dd is 5mo) i'm going to wear 'stuff that fits', hiking boots and a cagoule.

I'm getting v excited Grin

DawnOfTheDee · 29/06/2012 08:18

Today i mean! Friday is today! yes i don't get out much

handbagCrab · 29/06/2012 09:17

It's currently very sunny here, so although rain is forecast for later, it will hopefully not be a total mud bath :)

I'm excited too!

bigbadbarry · 29/06/2012 10:00

Those going today, please pop back on as soon as you wake up tomorrow with top tips for those of us going later :)

jetsetlil · 29/06/2012 10:23

I'm in South Manchester and it's gloomy and a bit rainy. Definately getting those wellies on.

Imperfectionist · 29/06/2012 12:04

From the bottom up...

  • Funky wellies, leggings
  • Denim mini-skirt, assorted layers (vest, long-sleeved off-shoulder top or old band T-shirt, thin hoody)
  • Waterproof mac, parka or rain coat but in one colour not a Mum's mac If colour of coat matches wellies so much the better for standing out in crowd and getting picked up on the big stage TVs.
  • Reni hat or similar. Hair worn long if you have it.
  • Lots of eye make-up and lip-balm.
  • Tiny cross-body bag, or better still no bag (keep purse, car-keys, lip-balm and camera-phone inside raincoat pockets).
  • Throat warmed by Mumsnet scarf on the outside and by plenty of alcohol on the inside (enough of the latter and you won't care about the rain).
TequilaMockinBird · 29/06/2012 17:36

DH's cousin is there now and has just text to say its boggy already Sad

Oh, and it's £4 a pint at the onsite bars Shock

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 29/06/2012 18:55

I'm listening the The Wailers in my back garden and they are ACE. Don't miss them.
Envy of those with tickets.

handbagCrab · 30/06/2012 01:32

Stand to the left of the stage as you look at it for the ending.

Wear wellies.

Do not expect to have a fucking drink until 9.30 so prepare your alcohol intake accordingly.

You could park locally if you're prepared to be cheeky as there was plenty of space but watch out for road closures.

Leaving was an issue. The bar was a massive issue. They'd got w handle on it by late but it was horrific beforehand.

Have a fucking amazing time!!!

MrsMoon · 30/06/2012 01:56

Well, I'm just back & I wore a big grin all the way thru!
