Come in, come in, we have gloriously sarcastic and opinionated staff waiting to serve you. Malory will never know as I have it on the best authority she is safely away for the week.

Who's first?

what's your budget for the skirt? there are couple on the monsoon website

Anastasia Black Seamed and Pleated Cotton Skirt £48

or this one is gorgeous:

Cebu (Green) Organdy Embroidered Skirt £55

only available in 12 and 18 on the website though

but are they too expensive?

harpsichordcarrier · 11/02/2006 20:06

mazzy this is the kind of look I was thinking

bolero type cardi like this or the kew one
a camisole
a skirt to this length like this one or the monsoon ones
sheer tights
some of those fabby shoes you have already

I personally wouldn't go for whole brown look - I think you can stand a lttle colour for this type of interview. That mid green or something ox bloody?

Mazzystar · 11/02/2006 20:07

green skirt is delish. with perhaps a kew wraparound cardi if the blue-ey colour matches. might have a footwear issue though - would brown boots work?

unsure of interview protocol tho - is it a bit flouncy?

can prob spend £100 or so.

harpsichordcarrier · 11/02/2006 20:15

brown boots would work with the green skirt I think, yes
I don't think it is to flouncy for an artsy job
they will expecting you to look a bit well artsy?
they wouldn't expect a suit for example would they?

Mazzystar · 11/02/2006 20:18

i hope not.

am going to the shops in manchester tomorrow, so will try on and report back. thanks everso.

harpsichordcarrier · 11/02/2006 20:21

but if you are doing brown boots AND green skirt then keep it neutral on top prob
good luck

harpsichordcarrier · 11/02/2006 20:24

professorG 37 is young
franny know this vibe better than me
what about something like this
a few ruffles over the tits works wonders I reckon

ProfessorG · 12/02/2006 15:18

OOhh yes like the ruffles - good idea. Think Trinny and Tranny say v neck tops to break up expanse of flat chest.

ProfessorG · 12/02/2006 15:21

Dress/ tights thing could also be good as legs are thin - but all my dresses are plain shift style, a bit worky. Need something a bit more interesting I think. Can I have round toed shoes or are they out again?

FrannyandZooey · 12/02/2006 20:00

Well again Prof G I think there are loads of lovely wrap dresses in funky patterns around at the moment, very chic and modern. Would look great with fishnets or whatever. If you have skinny legs boots might be better than round toes though? I always think a great long expanse of patterned tight legs makes me look like a flamingo.

Or, how about a pencil skirt, with round toes, would be great for your tall and skinniness IMO.

HC is quite poorly but normal service will be resumed shortly

saw lovely red Galaxy type dress the other day - in (of all places) Dorothy Perkins. Not on the website, but only £40.
(don't need it, can't afford it, mustn't buy it... )

GDG · 13/02/2006 14:57

Oh forgot about this thread!

Drinks, meal, possibly dancing.

Never very hot on dresses - better with top and bottom separates. Bias cut doesn't work on me at all - just looks horrible!

No, not really, I don't know, I just don't normally wear dresses to go out - maybe I should!

Prepared to show arms and shoulders - no probs with those!

LOL flamingo so true. At uni my legs were deemed to be "socially unacceptable" now all the models have them but they still look a bit odd in RL - weird isn't it.

Love the wrap dress will go and look - could I have patterndey tights between skirt and boots?

Prob with boots is legs are so skinny boots are ALWAYS bigger

FrannyandZooey · 13/02/2006 21:09

Ah, you need to shop at Duo Prof. 21 calf fittings (I am the 20th smallest calf fitting so I do understand). Vertbaudet / La Redoute boots also good for skinnies.

I think patterned tights would be great, something plainer if the dress has quite a wild pattern.

Please post photos after night out

Thanks so much for the tip - will definitely get some of those. Just panicked - measured ankle instead of calf and thought I was completetly abnormal for a second! But yes calf is 33cm, I think must be same as yours!
