My name is Season and I'm a sizzler. I'm on my second diy course of Glycolic Acid 30%.

Sign in here if you're using GA, SA, LA, or MA, or indeed some new hardcore A with a mellow melt and searing sizzle. Smile

I've been using the 15% lactic and SA acid from forever young very carefully. At least 5 days between peels and increasing time each week. My last peel I left for 5 mins and my pores are amazingly small!! I can't believe it makes such a difference.

I also can't believe some of the sizzling going on here! 5 mins at 15% was almost unbearable to start with. And I can only do t zone. Can't face the stinging around eyes or cheeks.

brighthair · 27/04/2012 19:33

I did a patch test and it was ok so have just done my first peel
Did one minute - started tingling madly after about 30 secs Grin
Will report back

CalamityKate · 27/04/2012 19:35

Did my first 3 min peel yesterday!

Tingled/itched like mad but I stuck it out and as soon as it was neutralised/rinsed off it was fine.

I think I see a small improvement in texture/size of pores on cheeks, but it's early days I suppose.

blobtobetter · 27/04/2012 19:40

I get zero sizzle / sting / tingle from 10% SA. Completed 6 weeks now.

Trying to figure out which acid to try next?!

Skin is still clogged and blackhead filled.

Lemonsqueegie · 27/04/2012 19:58

Have not read the whole thread so maybe you have covered this but I am an Acid Virgin, planning an Excursion in Acid once have stopped bfing.. but I need to know:-

  1. Why can't you sizzle when you are pregnant/bfing? Is is cos noxious stuff gets into your body and harms the babe or is it so your skin will be more prone to bad happenings of some kind? 2)If I get the stuff, how long does a bottle last? Hoping to stop bfing in next 6 weeks but may not succeed and don't want it to go off..
fluffylegs · 27/04/2012 20:57

Lemon I couldn't wait to stop bfing before doing it but she's old enough to not feed much anymore and I'm too impatient!

NotMostPeople · 27/04/2012 21:04

Blob I'm in the same boat, I think I'll move to GA.

babySophieRose · 27/04/2012 21:36

hello ladies,:)
Just to say that I am a sizzler as well. Looks like The sizzling is taking over our lives, :). Will do my 4th GA tonight. Not much of improvment so far, but skin is softer and smoother. A bit of a flaking, but I am using coconut oil every other night and it helps, skin feels great.

DoUntoOtters · 27/04/2012 23:02

Just done my second peel with GA 30%. It really sizzled this time and my face feels very hot, but also incredibly smooth. Will see if there is any improvement in the daylight tomorrow.

GA30% & SA20%

Three days post SA {2 mins} for the first time, nose and chin only. No peeling, a bit dry on the nose but no noticeable difference.

One day after second 5 min GA, I did the 6 min 20 days ago. Noticeable difference to crows feet!

sansucre · 28/04/2012 08:30

I don't mean to be a party pooper, but it says quite clearly in the instructions from Bravura (and in this thread too) it's only good to do the peel ONCE a week. Am rather horrified that some people are choosing to disregard this advice as it's in place for a reason.

Problematic skin isn't going to magically correct itself overnight, even with acid peels. It takes time for the treatment to work through the dermis and for skin to repair itself.. and removing skin at a quicker rate will mean the skin isn't growing back properly and will only cause more damage in the long term.

I think people are getting a little carried away with trying to prove how "hardcore" they are, although I guess it's your own skin and if you want to play with it, by all means do..

Apologies if I've offended anyone, it's not my intention but seriously, there are instructions for a reason! It's really quite simple, 1 peel once a week for 6 weeks followed by a 2 week hiatus before starting a new course.

I agree sansucre - am really surprised by the lack of regard to instructions when slapping acid on ones face. The instructions are simple to follow and the potential consequences of not doing so pretty unpleasant. Why would you do otherwise? Confused

bewitchedandbewildered · 28/04/2012 10:24

Sorry, I wasn't trying to prove how "hard core" I was by posting my experience/stupidity with acid peeling. I simply posted what I did and even said it was a big mistake. Maybe some of you missed that bit?

I did the second peeling because I didn't feel the 30% had done anything/made any difference. In fact, it didn't even sizzle. I took a chance. I learned a lesson from it.

And that's it.

SeasonOfTheWitch · 28/04/2012 11:01

It's not meant to sizzle really tho bewitched - certainly with GA it only does when the bicarb goes on.

go easy, dude - i'm sure working up slowly with 30% will have results after a few sessions. it's not meant to be a serious one-off peel where you see immediate drastic results.

cat yy, me too. my make-up lasts waaay better. so much less oily.

tough that doesn;t sound good Sad - what did you use/how long etc?

weeza did you use it under your eyes?

solomum i use bravura's 10% GA night cream in between peels. i really like it.

I'm due to do peel 2 of course 2 of GA 30% tomorrow. I'm going to ask the bravura bods how long I should leave it on this time.

i know we're all grown-ups and i'm not your leader but i'm feeling a bit responsible for starting these threads and then people going crazing slapping 87% GA on a 63 times a week.

i wish i'd said a bit more in my OP about what not to do. i'll try again here but worried it'll get lost in the noise.

Important: debunking the myths of sizzling

  • despite the name 'peel' most of us don't actually peel at all. i haven't even had a single flaky bit. SA seems to create a bit more dryness/flaking but deffo not serious damage/crusting/face melting off
  • despite us coining the term 'sizzling' it's not actually meant to sizzle and burn. the most i've noticed i got a litle bit stingy and itchy in the last minute of doing 7 mins of GA. the true sizzle only really happens as you neutralise GA but that only lasts a few seconds
  • if it burns when you first put it on then it's probably too strong for you or you've not waited long enough after washing for your skin's ph to go back to 'normal'
  • doing it several times a week isn't going to make it work faster/better, if anything it's disrupting the cycle of repair that's a big part of how this shizzle miracle works. chill out and wait a week between peels - after just a month you'll see a big difference. i followed the instructions pretty much to the letter and i've been amazed at how effective it's been.

i think that's it. please be nice to you skin - even (or especially) when you're chucking acid on it Smile

TheWisdomOfSolomum · 28/04/2012 11:15

I've just done my 2nd 30% GA.

The pores on my cheeks (just either side of my nose) look HUGE! You could park a bus in there.

However, if I shut my eyes and stroked my face, I could be fooled into thinking it was my 3 yr olds skin.

PorkyandBess · 28/04/2012 11:23

I have started to get comments about my skin! It really is looking good now.

I have done 4 GA. Last one I accidentally left on for 7 minutes as phone rang whilst it was on. No redness though.

TheWisdomOfSolomum · 28/04/2012 11:24

Season thanks for the tip re the night cream. I think I will try that and also like the sound of the HA serum.

TheWisdomOfSolomum · 28/04/2012 11:26

Has anyone just used normal Bicarb to neuralise? I have plenty left from Bravura but was wondering what to do if it runs out x

catinboots · 28/04/2012 11:42

I wasn't trying to be hardcore Confused

I'm just very impatient and never stick to rules Grin

bewitchedandbewildered · 28/04/2012 12:02

Snap Cat, you sound like me!

I guess I also expected it to burn/sting a bit, which it didn't. Maybe I'm just use to the sting of the dermaroller I do once a week. I felt nothing with the acid peel.
