My name is Season and I'm a sizzler. I'm on my second diy course of Glycolic Acid 30%.

Sign in here if you're using GA, SA, LA, or MA, or indeed some new hardcore A with a mellow melt and searing sizzle. Smile

Ooooooh dermaroller??!!

Tell me more Grin

I've heard of these devices before....

CalamityKate · 28/04/2012 12:59

I've read about the dermaroller too!!

Is it any good?

Mrsrobertduvall · 28/04/2012 13:04

My skin is throbbing just contemplating a peel..it's too sensitive.
I have microdermabrasion every 8 weeks, but sometimes even that can make my skin flare up.

SeasonOfTheWitch · 28/04/2012 13:07

Mrs i found the GA 30% actually gentler than microdermabrasion - i sometimes get a bit red and flaky with microderm but not at all with the peel

Dermaroller is great for boosting collagen production. It also heals scarring and acne. I've been using dermaroller for 18 months now. I had been considering a face lift but don't want to go that route before I'm 50. Now I don't need one :) It's brilliant for getting rid of the jowels and for saggy neck. I love what it's done for me.

I watched a whole lot of youtube videos before trying it. I use the 0,5 needles on my face and the 1.5 needles on my scars (boobs and tummy - my boob scars are almost gone! Tummy scar is getting there, not so angry red anymore but still visible)

I even dermaroller my partners head. I have his friends asking me to do it for them to. He has a full head of hair again. He now only has a slight thinning which should thicken with a couple more treatments. I've only done his 4 times because he's a ninny when it comes to pain. But he loves the results.

CalamityKate · 28/04/2012 13:22

OMG I've been considering surgery for my saggy neck and jowls! And DP would be like a dog with two dicks tails if his hair grew back even a little bit!

Right, I'm ordering one.

Best place to get them please??

Season, yes.

Catin, have you used it under your eyes?

bewitchedandbewildered · 28/04/2012 13:30

I buy mine from ebay. I usually use the roller but recently changed over to the stamp. I order them in packs of 10 because it works out to £7 each that way, though you can buy them individually from about £12 and upwards. I buy tattoo numbing cream off ebay too for my partner's head, though I do mine without it. If it's too uncomfortable for you I'd recommend you use the numbing cream first.

CalamityKate · 28/04/2012 13:46

What made you change to the stamp? How long was it before you noticed results?

Sorry, picking your brains...

bewitchedandbewildered · 28/04/2012 13:59

No problem CK. A friend I told about the dermaroller got back to me a few months back and asked if I had heard of the stamp. I hadn't, so I looked into it, bought one and tried it. Loved it and bought it by the pack. I find the stamp is a lot gentler to use while the roller is a little more vigorous.

cybbo · 28/04/2012 14:07

Season -I've entered our home made laser for the next series of Robot Wars- that's okay, isnt it?

bewitchedandbewildered · 28/04/2012 14:07

Ooops...sorry CK, forgot to answer...

I noticed the results round 4 weeks into using it, but only started getting comments from others around about 6 to 8 weeks. I get compliments all the time now, that my partner now says "you look good, but you know that".

catinboots · 28/04/2012 15:00

Just been googling dermarollers. Apparently they cure stretchmarks Shock

I'm getting me one

[sucker emotion]

CalamityKate · 28/04/2012 15:15

OK, I'm on Ebay. Last question - what size do I want? I'm looking at a 1.5mm one?

NotMostPeople · 28/04/2012 17:22

Baa - again.

GA - tick
SA - tick
Clarisonic - tick
Retin A - credit card at the ready
Dermaroller - paypall ready

NotMostPeople · 28/04/2012 17:32

Right I've just googled some videos and my paypall acount isn't being touched today afterall. Dermaroller looks totally mad, how can that not be very painful?

blobtobetter · 28/04/2012 18:14

Mrs I thought my skin was super sensitive but 10% SA hasn't really done anything at all whereas microdermabrasion made it really sore.

Now tempted by a dermaroller - any good if you are 25?

Such a sheep!

catinboots · 28/04/2012 18:58

Google says 0.5mm for face and 1.5mm for bod.

catinboots · 28/04/2012 19:00

Aaah Season's Smile thread is going off on a tangent. Maybe we need to start a Potential Pricklers thread.....

catinboots · 28/04/2012 19:09

Just looked at Ebay! If I purchase a dermaroller I can get myself a brand new stretch-mark free bod and hirsute DH for less than a bottle of naice wine Shock Shock Shock

maisiebabe · 28/04/2012 23:09

Ok ladies, am on week 2 of 10% SA and I am in despair as more blackheads and congested pores than before have popped up in defiance of the aciiiiid. Sad. Despite skin experts waving their fists and threatening thinning skin, i want to wash my face in acid every night. Do I REALLY have to wait another week? Should I ramp up to 20%SA or move to GA? ( or indeed cillit bang in desperation..)

fluffylegs · 29/04/2012 08:39

Maisie
I didn't notice a difference until week 4 and that was on 15%. I think the point about these peels is that you have to build up sensitivity and also the result comes accumatively ( sorry can't spell that word). So don't give up yet!
If you are worried about blackheads SA is your man, not GA.

bewitchedandbewildered · 29/04/2012 10:15

Sorry I disappeared. Glad you found the sizing Cat. It's 0.5 for the face hands and feet and 1.5 for more fleshy areas of the body. Once you start with the dermaroller you'll be hooked. It is uncomfortable, but worth it.

Back on topic:

I did another sizzle yesterday with 50% GA for 10 minutes, and I loaded loads of neutraliser on to finish. Boy does my skin look good?! My BIL came round with my partner after and asked if I had make up on. I didn't have. He said my face looked "fresh" and wanted to know what I used so he could tell his partner "who is always doing stuff to her face", as he put it.

I am loving the even tone I've got from this! Will wait a week and do it again.
