My name is Season and I'm a sizzler. I'm on my second diy course of Glycolic Acid 30%.

Sign in here if you're using GA, SA, LA, or MA, or indeed some new hardcore A with a mellow melt and searing sizzle. Smile

I know......
That's why I switched to GA but have noticed no diff at all!

ggirl · 05/06/2012 19:27

daffyboob sorry no idea why dermarollers aren't allowed when breastfeeding..could be hormone related or the seller being over cautious.

I am still trying with the homemade vit c. Have made some with hot water and then applied my ha serum on top. I have a white powdery residue left so not something i could leave on during the day.

I feel i should be ordering some glycerin and droppers etc and doing it properly but tbh ..cba

thenightsky · 05/06/2012 23:07

Interesting about white patches. I reckon my brown age patches are actually worse since this peeling lark Sad

MissFoodie · 05/06/2012 23:10

are you using spf?

thenightsky · 05/06/2012 23:20

Missfoodie... I'm using SPF, yes.

SeasonOfTheWitch · 05/06/2012 23:54

nightsky i think my pigmentation marks went thru a phase of being more visible before fading - i wonder if it's because there's no dead skin blocking them from view or something?

tough do you mean just white coloured patches or dry patches?

I am on my 2nd course.

It has totally got rid of all the milia i had under my eyes. Any sort of spot that might be brewing is immediately brought to the surface.

I have had loads of comments about my skin from girlfriends.

catinboots · 08/06/2012 18:25

SIZZLERS!! How the hell are you all??

I had to step away from the thread and take an aciiiiiid break Smile

Took ages to find you today. I thought you'd all flaked away into the ether.

I'm right back on it tonight fellow flesh-fryers.

Just contemplating what to do?? 30% or 50% GA and for how long?

Remember, I have skin like an old boot.............

Beckamaw · 08/06/2012 19:17

Hi y'all.
I come bearing a tip from a new sizzler.
I recently embarked upon my first sizzle. Being the twat that I am I brushed on the acid nonchalantly and pottered around in the bathroom. Upon realising that 3 minutes had probably elapsed, I reached for the tin of neutraliser. I could not remove the fucking lid for love nor money! After a couple of minutes I managed to remove it with the aid of a towel. The bastard stuff flew all over the bathroom and down my dressing gown.Blush
After I had scooped it off the floor, mixed with water and applied, I had sizzled for approximately 10 minutes.
My face has remained intact for now. Will update if it dissolves.

New sizzlers - get the lid off early in the game! Grin

thenightsky · 08/06/2012 19:42

Oh yes... someone earlier on in the thread had that happen and referred to the tin of neutraliser as 'Fort Knox'. I keep a rubber glove handy for the job now Grin

ggirl · 08/06/2012 19:42

hahahahahah @ becka
was that the 30% acid?

also while you're here..the vit c ..do you mix yrs with any serum or similar?

ggirl · 08/06/2012 19:44

catinboots-if yr skin is leather like i would go for 50%

disclaimer-don't blame me if you lose yr face tho...just sayin Grin

MissFoodie · 08/06/2012 22:31

girls, no need to buy the neutraliser, just use bicarb!!!!
i'll be doing 2nd 30% GA sizzle this w/e, hoping for some sign of something as nothing happened after the 1st one!

Beckamaw · 09/06/2012 01:32

Yep gg. 30%.
Face still appears normal. Smile

I mix the Vit C with all kinds of stuff! Moisturiser, body lotion, hair conditioner, serum etc
I make up a batch then add it to any skin/hair product. No problems so far......!

ggirl · 09/06/2012 13:19

sorry to keep harping on about this vit c becks
i recieved the bravura ha serum today as well as their 15% glycolic gel cream and was going to mix the vit c with the ha
so when you make a batch up what volumes are you using?

the water has to be hot enough and the concentration weak enough to dissolve the crystals..yes?

last time i dissolved thhem it left a white powdery residue on my face

Beckamaw · 09/06/2012 13:33

I have the ha serum too. I put the Vit C on first usually. I kind of pat it on because it's just like water.
I use a little medicine measuring cup with about 10ml of hot tap water. I put about a quarter of a teaspoon of Vit C into it and swish until dissolved. If it doesn't dissolve I add more hot water until it does.
I've never experienced the powder residue thing. I would guess that the powder isn't properly dissolved. You need to use a clear container do you can tell if it has dissolved and the water has to be quite hot. Just be sure it is cool before applying!

I started using it after reading up on dermarollering on owndoc.com. There is loads of info there. She suggests storing a larger batch in the fridge but that didn't make sense to me because it goes off fast and I forget it is in there! Grin

ggirl · 09/06/2012 13:37

great thanks -will have a look at that site

Beckamaw · 09/06/2012 16:14

Gg - if you have any questions, Sarah does answer emails personally. I have found her extremely helpful.

ggirl · 09/06/2012 19:47

backa-did you order your roller from her site?

Am thinking of 0.5 for product penetration..ooo err matron!

also have been looking on that site for vit c serum recipe but no luck yet

BubbleBobble · 10/06/2012 23:41

I have just finished reading this thread and I'm completely fascinated!

I was hoping that you very wise ladies would be able to recommend a peel for me. I have acne (still, FFS! Mostly painful, cystic-type around my jaw with the occasional whitehead), large open pores across my cheeks, scarring from old spots and blackheads. Don't I sound MARVELLOUS, hehe.

I've used products with SA in before, but only ever as strong as the impregnanted pads that you swipe across your face. I found they really helped with the acne and I know I can tolerate SA.

The problem is that I have had chemotherapy and radiotherapy this year. The chemo is supposed to make my skin more sensitive, especially to the sun. The radiotherapy has definitely done that, but only to the area I had it, which wasn't my face. I honestly have not noticed any other skin changes, except my acne cleared up while I was on chemo and came back a month after finishing. I don't react to make-up, sunlight, anything like that on my face. I use sunblock just in case though.

I have two questions, I suppose - what would you recommend I use based on my skin problems and ignoring the treatment I've had, and what would you recommend knowing that I've had treatment?

Sorry for de-railing the thread! Continue with your tales of sizzling. :o

MissFoodie · 11/06/2012 10:26

30% GA (previously used 10% SA)
Did 2nd sizzle yesterday for 6 mins, skin feels softer but does not look any different......
hoping for something by 3rd sizzle.....!

Hetaera · 13/06/2012 09:07

Hi all! Long time lurker here and newly melted of face.

I just got a bit excited as they just used a dermaroller on Lorraine for stretchmarks! It looks fantastic. Any suggestions for which one to get?

catinboots · 13/06/2012 09:13

I saw that!! I think on the previous sizzle thread someone linked to dermarollers
