New thread!

Not that I've been on the old one much Blush)

am watching Gok and not entirely convinced by the outfits though admire his enthusiasm. Can't stick the woman who does the designer look, that Lanvin dress looks like a pair of curtains.

Bloss It's a combination of my first and last name and my year of birth. Staggering lack of imagination there and have thought up many other better cool ones since! Apparently Emo's are also surly goth teens.

Bonsoir what a lovely day - sounds amazing.

Thanks ladies for the positive feedback on the outfit for tomorrow, if I can remember to ask DH to take a photo I may even post one (unless there is a hair disaster) Am nervous - have been on maternity leave since Sep - however my colleagues are lovely and it's easy to make conversation with our guests as nobody every really wants to talk about work at these things!!

The mice in my cellar have started to eat a feather duster, WTF?!!

FritziGreenEyes · 22/02/2011 20:39

Well bloss and I'm Envy of your post-shred glow, fab outfit and your DH's adoration while I am already in pyjamas.

FritziGreenEyes · 22/02/2011 20:43

emo Was wondering about your name too and immediately had a goth-like image in my head. Don't worry about your work do tomorrow night. Everyone will ask you where you got that fab dress and earrings from. Smile

traceybath · 22/02/2011 20:49

I'm a scarfaholic too and not Irish.

Emo - I am too watching Gok with DS1 who is just laughing. DH wandered in and just asked if it was a joke as the make-overs are soo awful.

Emo - I did wonder if you were a proper emo Wink But your dress choice reassured me Smile

Fritzi - I really hate pushy sales assistants and thats why I prefer shopping online or in a large department store.

Fritzi - I am Envy of your champagne but am also in pjs.

I love scarves but they have to be big (for some reason).

yes pushy assistants, even Liberty was on some sort of sales drive. You know the type, five seconds in the changing room. are you ok? are you ok, arghh leave me alone.

I must add even though dh asked for the drinks, he does like the stuff but think I will take it all back. Maybe.

I am so very tired right now, am going to watch something pointless

MarshaBrady · 22/02/2011 21:00

Speaking of pointless, there is a show set in a model agency on tomorrow. Might have a little look....

re pushy assistants I am almost certain that NAP and the like have done well because we don't all appreciate the hard sell. Don't get me started on fitting rooms without mirrors where you have to come out in front of everybody to check yourself out, hideous hideous.

seriously considering name change - ha! Perhaps I do wear too much black though...

Night all, am off to finish laundry and foolishly dabble in fake tan.

OllieWollieWoo · 22/02/2011 21:10

Ashamed to admit that for a long time I read Emo and thought of this Blush

MarshaBrady · 22/02/2011 21:24

I much prefer getting a beautifully wrapped box; the Acne boots were all ribbons, and tissue paper etc, than be subjected to sales tactics. I am only just realising this, and I have loved Liberty for an age.

Have a lovely time tomorrow Emo, tis a lovely dress.

ApuskiDusky · 22/02/2011 21:26

I don't think I have ever gone into a boutique Blush - it doesn't help that I am in a very 'ladies who lunch' town, so most of them look like they are pitched at women of a certain age, with lots of mother of the bride outfits in the window. Sites like NAP, Matches and MW have been a bit of a revelation for me.

I have spent a lot of time and money in Selfridges though (had a small Joseph habit).

Do they want the feather duster for their nestShock. We had the same problem under the stairs!

ApuskiDusky · 22/02/2011 21:34

I think I need to learn how to 'do' scarves, I think they could work for me. I somehow never learned this. It's a bit like learning how to put your hair up, I somehow never learned the art, so here I am at 39 resorting to a ponytail on bad hair days.

blossoming · 22/02/2011 22:22

Was I the only one brave enough to ask emo outright then?! Like tracey, I was reassured by the gorgeous red dress.

pickledsiblings · 22/02/2011 22:33

OWW, I so knew you were going to link to Elmo Grin.

Marsha, I couldn't bring myself to opt for pretty wrapping from my-wardrobe so I went for boring but environmentally friendly cardboard. It was still wrapped in tissue though.

Emo76 · 23/02/2011 09:04

morag oh god I hope not. have to get the pros out again with their super strength poison. grrrr.

apuski I know what you mean about scarves. Any tips, scarf fiends?

I am Grin at the thought some of you thought I was a goth due to username, or possibly a cute red critter from Sesame Street! Didn't really realise how it came across. But I think I'll stick with it. I love Elmo by the way!

L'Oreal spray tan hasn't really done much but at least I'm not orange this morning.

pickledsiblings · 23/02/2011 09:14

Have a great time tonight Emo, you'll look fab.

Scarf tips: try to avoid Marsha's air hostess look at all costs (unless your DH is particularly into that kind of thing Wink)

AllBuggiedOut · 23/02/2011 09:16

You ladies could always go on a House of Colour scarf tying course Grin

Mine tend to be either The Noose (fold in half, hold behind neck and thread loose ends through loop made by the fold). Or what the HoC woman called "Down with the Kids" Hmm which is your classic one loop round neck and both ends hanging down the front. Isn't this look beautiful?

traceybath · 23/02/2011 09:24

Relieved to know I have been doing my scarf in the 'down with the kids' way Wink

I used to do the noose but its a little pony-club mum round these parts.

carciofi · 23/02/2011 09:34

I do both noose and down with the kids but need to expand my repertoire. :o

My mother used to get me to tie her scarves for her.

What a dreary day. We are off to Esher to visit a friend so I will look out for Eshermummy!

pickledsiblings · 23/02/2011 09:43

I do the noose and then I loop the loose ends back through the noose again. It'll set you apart from the pony-club mums Tracey Grin.

VerityBrulee · 23/02/2011 09:54

I favour the down with the kids look too Smile the scarves I find tricky are the silk square kind, almost bought the Hermes guide to scarf tying on eBay once but was outbid. There are lots of scarf tying bids on YouTube I think, must watch some.

emo have a great time tonight, you will look beautiful.

bloss hope dd's feeling better today. I wished Iwas wearing jeans and polo neck at park yesterday, it was cold, damp and muddy. Love the white but def think you should go for White skinny jeans for summer, bet that's what Emmanuelle wears with her Bretons when it's sunny. I love the idea of them, might even induce me to Shred. Welshcakes were great success, made more for breakfast Smile

Spending today indoors, taking dc to cinema, hoping to take a shortcut through HoF shoe dept on way.

ApuskiDusky · 23/02/2011 10:18

Lol at 'down with the kids', I always called that the Doctor Who look!
