New thread!

Not that I've been on the old one much Blush)

OP posts:

carciofi, black this time I think. So I can wear it with with work trousers. I just listed 10 items when dd was asleep!
M&S houlilikies were incredible. Worth a punt at £28 but too stretchy for me and too pale.
The Gap ones in the bigger size were not right either, so I'm giving up on them.
I found an old shirt from Landsend. The Joseph would be considerably better probably, no?
Also bought another top, moamu contender, but that's going back too. It's a crisis I tell you.

Zembo · 21/02/2011 17:11

Carciofi I've been in bed most of the day (very glad my DC not around now!) and feeling well enough to have a Brew and a biscuit. I've been sick 6 times today though, hoping that's the end of it now.

The gaviscon liquid should work much more quickly than the tabs, it worked for me. Good luck.

Everything really like the skirt you linked to, I didn't think it was too much for work.

Looby my DD LOVES dressing up in Asian clothes - she's been to a wedding with my parents today, bet she was in heaven all dressed up and oggling the 'princess' Smile
Bonsoir probably meant the specialist rather than 'proper doctor'. As NY says it's good that you've brought it up rather than letting it continue to bother you. I did wonder if I was going to offend any lurkers anyone the other day when I said NHS HR departments are incompetent, obviously didn't mean to, it's just my experience of working in several NHS organisations.

Bonsoir · 21/02/2011 17:17

loobylu - I'm sorry if you were offended. In my defence, GPs in my part of the world are (a) significantly less qualified than specialists (b) wouldn't dream of not referring a patient on to an ENT specialist if you had recurrent sinusitis. They would be rather Hmm if you kept on going back to see them with that sort of complaint. GPs do vaccinations, treat colds, that kind of thing.

I'm sorry lobby of course I didn't mean to offend you. I have good reason to feel somewhat frustrated with my GP, he even admitted his shortcomings himself. I hoped my remarks came across as light-hearted, I shall be more careful in future Smile

FritziGreenEyes · 21/02/2011 17:54

Have only been a weekend at my parents' and so many posts already!

everything I am speechless at your ex-H's behaviour Shock. You are doing an amazing job and are handling it all graciously. I don't know if I could... Hope things get better once you have set up a routine for the weekends.

bloss That is such good news about the job! I'm thrilled for you!

bonsoir A week without family responsibilities sounds great!

annie Enjoy your time with DH and the DDs! Please bring back some sunshine from Dubai! I am just sooo fed up with the cold. I'm constantly attached to a hot water bottle at home although our house is really warm.

zembo Hope you can get lots of rest and get better soon!

blossoming · 21/02/2011 18:33

zembo, could it be a bug?
Hi fritzi!

FritziGreenEyes · 21/02/2011 19:37

I think I need some yellow in my wardrobe. The thing is that I cannot do any mustard/dark-yellow but want something more citrussy-coloured (if that makes sense). I think I want to start with a top or skinny belt or bag to lighten up my grey and navy things. Any ideas?

Bonsoir · 21/02/2011 19:41

Fritzi - I tried on a really gorgeous citrus yellow straw hat in Le Bon Marché last week. DD was urging me to buy it (I am still meditating, as I don't need more than one sun hat and I already have lots of yellow things!).

PlumSykes · 21/02/2011 20:00

This is a nice belt Fritzi. Still too mustard, or okay colour-wise?

FritziGreenEyes · 21/02/2011 20:04

bonsoir The hat sounds great but I think I feel as far away from summer and a sun hat as possible. So, so cold here. Are you going anywhere summery soon?

plum Thanks for the link. Difficult to tell what the yellow is like really. Would probably have to see it in RL. You can call me Ms-Fussy-Yellow Grin.

AntPants1 · 21/02/2011 20:10

What do you think of this dress from gap?

www.gap.eu/browse/product.do?cid=60582&vid=1&pid=832647

also saw this dress in the window at Hobbs.....www.gap.eu/browse/product.do?cid=60582&vid=1&pid=832647 you think they would choose a better photo...it's a black shirt dress for those of you without magic eyes...they had styled it with chunky black belt www.hobbs.co.uk/index.cfm?page=1152

AntPants1 · 21/02/2011 20:10

Oh and week 4 of return to work after mat leave and still not feeling the love...sigh...

Bonsoir · 21/02/2011 20:11

Nothing planned until the summer holidays, sadly! All our immediate travel plans are on hold as DP's mother is so very ill. She cheered up a bit when DP said he was going to go to Val d'Isère with the DCs as planned (I think she took it as good news and that the doctor thought she wasn't going to die this week) but I'm not sure what will be happening in the next few weeks/months.

I love beach wear! The idea of beach wear is almost better than the reality....

AntPants1 · 21/02/2011 20:12

Love the belt Plum....

AntsPants, I can only see the Gap dress but it is very nice. It would look good with Plum's yellow belt.

Blossoming, do your old jeans sell well on eBay? I have a few pairs to offload (Sevens, Paige etc) but last time I tried to sell, there were no bids. I will let you know what the Current Elliott cargos are like ... if they ever turn up!

loobylu3 · 21/02/2011 20:25

That's okay bonsoir and verity- just had to get it off my chest! I really admire the dedication and knowledge base of the Partners at my surgery and others although I have met a few GPs (only a few) whom I do not admire at all (long story)!
verity- I can totally understand that patients feel frustrated at times with an individual GP or with the situation they find themselves in. I think also you are from Dublin and as far as I know you have to pay each time you see the GP so I guess that affects the relationship somewhat. I also have a feeling that GP training/ further specialist exams are not essential in the way they are in the UK.
bonsoir- I think the role of the GP is rather limited in a lot of other countries. I remember my BIL/SIL seemed to make a habit of calling their paediatrician for straightforward complaints such as D&V Confused when they lived in The States. My DH is from S/pore where GPs don't seem to do much other than hand out antibiotics for viral upper respiratory tract infections because the patients demand them!

annie- do you like these ?
What do you think of these from Nicole Farhi? I saw them a few weeks back and thought they could be useful for work during the Summer although they may possibly make my bottom look huge!!

bloss- I wondered if you (or anyone else) might like these although I know olive isn't one of your usual colours! I bought them the other day as they 25% off and they fit really well. I think they look a bit strange on the model but they fit me well- even DH and DD1 were complimentary and they are a hard pair to please! :) I also tried on the skinny cargos which were nice when I sized down to a 6 (I am not a 6) and rolled them up!

zembo- do you think it was the DF118 making you so sick? Hope it has settled or that you at least have some anti emetics!

NY- sounds like a lovely weekend you have planned. I think it would probably through me into a panic having to dress smartly for three evenings in a row but you seem to have it all in hand!

carciofi- the liquid should be more effective but it is not a pleasant medicine to have to take :(

AntPants1 · 21/02/2011 20:30

Sorry this is the Hobbs dress...

Bonsoir · 21/02/2011 20:34

looblylu3 - here in France a "pédiatre" is a "GP for children". DD also has a paediatric dentist and a paediatric opthalmologist - it is quite normal for children to be treated by different doctors to their parents. There is no concept of a family doctor or surgery, really. All women seem to have a gynaecologist (who is often not an obstetrician) for sexual health and contraception. And dermatologists are plentiful. GPs deal with vaccinations, coughs and colds and prescribe a lot of tranquillisers, and also refer their patients to specialists these days (you used to self-refer).

As a by-the-by, my GP was recommended to me by an ENT specialist.

loobylu3 · 21/02/2011 20:35

fritzi- I bought this top recently and I like it. It looks a little dull as they have styled it but I wore it with a scarf which was nice, I think. I think asos have several yellow belts and dresses too.
I am also into yellow at the moment- I think it was vin's yellow links which inspired me initially! Am thinking of buying a mustard colour cardigan to brighten up grey/ navy dresses, etc

traceybath · 21/02/2011 20:39

Golly - I feel sorry for Verity - she missed out on the belstaff boots - perspective ladies Wink

Fritzi - I'm also hankering after some yellow - was after trying n lovely tucker silk shirt but it was too £££.

FritziGreenEyes · 21/02/2011 20:40

ants That GAP dress is nice and I love the fact that it has pockets!

loobylu3 · 21/02/2011 20:41

As far as I know what you describe is the case in other parts of Europe too. I think the style of GP practised in the UK is quite unusual which is a shame.

'....and prescribe a lot of tranquillisers....'- sounds a bit worrying!!

I am procrastinating- must go and shred or I won't do it this evening and have a busy day tomorrow with DC's friends coming to play so had better not stay up to late!
