LOL Annie, I know I am getting ahead of myself, but I kind of have to - if I do get offered the job, I'll have maybe 3 weeks to sort everything out and settle ds2 into childcare.

Re suit - what do you think of this? Colour would be great, I'm not completely sure about the shape. But it could balance my slightly pear-y hips.

I like that jacket Apuski!

As a pear I have a wool Hampstead suit from Jigsaw - one jacket but both trousers and a skirt. It is very flattering and timeless....but just a little bit boring if I am honest.

Here under 'fine wool pencil skirt'

Thanks - Annie, yes, I think I am a slim sort of theoretical pear - I rely on my hips to make me not look like a stick!

I agree on the dress and jacket combo - given a choice I never wear jackets at work, and in my hypothetical return to work wardrobe planning, had been thinking about having smart dresses as staples.

NY, I think I'm over plain trouser suits now, although they used to be my staple. I've spent too long visiting corporate Germany I think, where women's workwear is so so bland as if they're trying to get away with it not being noticed that they're women IYSWIM.

Exhausted, off to look at LK now. I fear I may not be va-va-voom enough.

Pickled - LOL. I'm sure that DH would not say the rant he had to listen to when I phoned to tell him about SIL's visit was not tame! On here, I often type what I'm really thinking, read it and think I sound like a b*h and then tone it right down! One day, something will tip me over the edge (probably SIL) and you will all see the real me!!!
Apuski exciting news. Fingers crossed it all works out for you. I don't own any but think Jaegar has some nice things. Great jacket.

Shocking pictures from NZ.

Anyone seen this Warehouse bag in RL? here Is it a poor womans Alexa? Would love to think I could save up for a real Alexa - but I know my limits!

OllieWollieWoo · 22/02/2011 12:13

Apuski is this too corporate for you? I quite like the textured thing and shape of jacket?TM Lewin?

Apuski, good luck!

Very sad news about Christchurch. I hope my SIL's family are alright.

PickledSiblings, glad you like the yellow bag. I am still pondering which bag to buy.

Everything, the jeans are 30 waist so too big. I bought the rug from a local shop, it is just plain cream wool (which will get trashed in no time, I'm sure!) but was half the price of everything else I've been looking at. Woven Ground have really nice rugs.

I got this scarf with the Boden voucher, it is really nice.

OWW, have fun with your sister and hope your SIL doesn't stay too long!

carciofi · 22/02/2011 12:25

Just heard from my SIL, her family are safe though a lot of damage to their house and some friends are missing.

Thanks all!

Right, I will get into town in the next couple of days then, and visit LK Bennett, Hobbs, TM Lewin, Reiss and Jaeger, as they are all on the same street, and try to find my va-va-voom. Real shops, what a novelty!

OWW, I like that warehouse satchel, looks a little more casual than an Alexa I'd say - maybe a good thing, though.

apuski its got to be W&A ltd, surely?!

mrsjuan · 22/02/2011 12:48

Just dashing in and out to say hi! Am having a hectic but fun time at my parent's house with their new rescue puppy. Luckily DD is used to dogs and has been unfazed so far about him attempting to remove her socks whilst they are still on her feet and nearly joining her in the bath Grin

Thank for thinking of me with the Belstaff boots Marsha, alas, I was too late again. The outlet site looks useful though.

Sorry for brevity, will catch up soon. Have any of the missing W&As resurfaced yet??

VerityBrulee · 22/02/2011 13:12

MrsJ puppy sounds fun! Did you see that Belstaff outlet site I linked to, seems to have good bargains.

OWW re saving for an Alexa, I save my 1 and 2 euro coins, empty them into a pretty Laduree macaroon box every night, it is utterly painless saving and averages 60EUR a month. Start now and have your Alexa for Christmas Smile

Marsha I agree, scarf is not really you, or at least the picture of you I have in my minds eye! Wasn't there a lovely one you linked to before christmas? Clear, spring colours IIRC. Real life returns are a pain, I can really only get into town at weekends and then there's usually so much more to do.

Apuski that's exciting news. Would probably be stressful, but if only for 3-6mths then managable. Enjoy the suit shopping, like that Jaegar jacket.

Zembo glad your feeling better today Smile

I've decided to be wise and leave the boots for now, but will keep an eye out for a bargainous pain for next AW. Would love a navy pair much more than brown, so worth holding out.

Exhausted totally agree with you, love beeing frivolous and extravagant here when reality is so different! Re houlihans, what usually happens to me is that I fixate on something, decide it's too expensive, spend ages sourcing a cheaper version which I end up disliking as details, cut etc aren't as nice as the original. So then I end up buying the original anyway Hmm So now I feel it's cheaper in the long run to buy what I really love. That's why I started my saving trick.

Got to make lunch, see you later Smile

blossoming · 22/02/2011 13:18

Terrible news from NZ. Glad your families are okay annie and carciofi.

Dd was poorly last night. I think it's teething. But it's so unlike her. She's just such a happy little soul normally. She is asleep now, we were supposed to be going to Chester today for DS to go to Toys 'r' Us! Instead my mum's taken him to a neighbouring town on the bus. Big treat.
So I'm out on a limb rather!
So much to take back to the post office, and I think they're out of mailbags. Also someone just bought a nightshirt I listed yesterday. Strange what some people will buy!
Will scour Netaporter for inspiration again.

MarshaBrady · 22/02/2011 13:23

Yes you are probably right Verity!
Also I find that if a scarf isn't large enough I possibly suffer from air-hostess tying. Dh asked me what time the drinks trolley would be coming Hmm

carciofi · 22/02/2011 13:26

Marsha, lol at your dh!
Crumpet are having an archive sale and this fell into my shopping basket.

MarshaBrady · 22/02/2011 13:29

hehe Carciofi it did make me laugh.

Love the scarf.

notyummy · 22/02/2011 13:49

I am hiding upstairs eating a Frys Chocolate Cream whilst DD and her little friend trash the family room. I am using the 'idle parent' approach to playdates (don't expect me to play with you children....that's what I have invited the other child over to do Grin)

May have to supervise if warfare breaks out!

In my defence, despite being 'on holiday' Hmm I have loads of work to do because I am going on my NLP course in 2 weeks and there is LOADS of prep to do. Open book exam to be submitted (43 written answers..), 20 hour long CDs to be listened to at least twice each. 2 books to read and a whole large ring binder full of material to be absorbed. Great.
