LTEC - know today will be hard for you - and everyone attending. Will be thinking of you.

Fritzi - those boots are truely lovely. Good find!

GW - where is the coat from? I've had puffa coats which have de-puffed through wear, whilst others (more exp ones) have stayed puffy! Are you sure its too puffy and just not cos you are not use to wearing a coat like that? Care to take a pic and post on profile so we can judge the puff so to speak??? Smile

Not had time to read over all the posts I've missed so sorry for not acknowledging everyone!

Friend whose Mum passed away is back over here now after Mondays funeral and coming over for some tea, cake and sympathy. I've been tasked with telling all about the coffee morning we have arranged to raise money for Macmillian Nurses - its snowballed and we now have 8 different vendors selling jewellery, books, crafts, kids clothes as well as an enormous cake stall and raffle with great prizes. Being held at a local tennis club which has a lovely large cafe area. I get choked up just thinking of how generous people have been so expect we both will have a good cry when I tell her!

OllieWollieWoo · 06/10/2010 07:44

Oh yes - calling Blossoming - have you made any progress with your search for winter tops? I'm desperately in need of some to wear with jeans and struggling. So far have only found this and this but not sure I would even wear with jeans! which I would consider getting - and both are fairly plain. Any finds?

carciofi · 06/10/2010 08:13

LTEC, so sorry about your friend's baby, very sad.

What are these Citizen jeggings of which you speak? I think I need them!

Fab boots Fritzi.

OWW, that is great people are getting so involved. I like the WC top.

DD is pushing me off the chair, back later!

blossoming · 06/10/2010 08:25

I can't open your links right now but it's a bit of nightmare isn't it ollie? I'm fine for every day, rotating various stripey tops with longline cardigans, much better than last season as my belly is no longer such an issue (I just ordered Jillian Michael's new DVD!). I got a great purple l/l l/s top in m&s on Saturday too.
I have a merino tunic in navy from boden s/s and I still get wear out of the LA top.
For smart, the cowl neck dress is lovely or I put my Zara jacket over the tops instead of a cardigan.
But on Saturday I have lunch with school friends. I am the first to hit 40 and need to look fabulous, even though two of them have let themselves go a bit. I will be in flats because of shopping earlier in the day, and will need a coat too. So a cool top for a lunch date. Current bête noir!!

carciofi · 06/10/2010 08:59

Blossoming, J Brands and blazer? Is it too cold for the M&S Blossoming top?

hellsbelles · 06/10/2010 09:31

bloss - that is such a heartbreaking story. And LTEC - I truly don't know how they must feel but I'm wishing them (and you) all the strength they need to get through this time.

onto the frivolous. The tunic tops looks very handy - I may have to get them (good price too). Fritizi - gorgeous boots...really perfect.

Bloss - I think the blouse/jeans combo can work really well in this weird weather. I have a washed silk grey shirt from equipment (too expensive - but I'm sure there are much better deals out there - I'm too lazy sometimes!) and wore it yesterday with jeans and got a lot of compliments.

LetThemEatCake · 06/10/2010 09:57

I haven't read any posts this morning so apols for self centred post but need some advice as am not sure whether what I'm wearing feels a bit wrong bc it's not my usual thing or bc it's wrong for the occasion. Black wool pencil skirt, tights with small spot pattern, grey cashmere s/s sweater and scarf with kind of blurry blue/ light grey/ dark grey print. Is that ok?

OllieWollieWoo · 06/10/2010 10:05

LTEC - sounds perfect - smart, not too sombre. Hope it goes as well as these things can. Big (not very MN) hugs to you.

carciofi · 06/10/2010 10:06

LTEC, it sounds very appropriate.

notyummy · 06/10/2010 10:06

LTEC - that sounds lovely and I am sure it is appropriate.

I hope that the family (and you) are able to get through what is such a sad day. Thinking of you.

carciofi · 06/10/2010 10:06

Whistles have some lovely tops and I think there is 25% off with Grazia.

reallygrumpy · 06/10/2010 10:08

LTEC your outfit sounds sudued and appropriate. I hope you're ok Today (or as ok as you can be given the circumstances). I shed a few tears Reading about your friends only being able to hold their baby for his final minutes. How utterly heartbreaking for them. Take care.

reallygrumpy · 06/10/2010 10:20

Did anyone see Samantha Cameron on last night's news, I loved her outfit - straight dark jeans, silk blouse, camel coat so maybe something similar would work for your lunch blossoming?

blossoming · 06/10/2010 10:21

If it's not too late I'd like to say your outfit sounds just right ltec.

carciofi, the bloss top is too big for me now! I did so much shopping before I changed sizes! Never mind. The trench coat would have been good too. Too big also. I'm on the lookout for another knee length coat, no hood required! I've got the new Red magazine and there's a coat section and 20% off at lkbennett. I'll report back.

blossoming · 06/10/2010 10:27

I just saw that picture of Sam Cam on the front of the Times reallygrumpy. Camel doesn't work for me but a similar knee length coat, but more fitted would be nice.
marsha, I love glossy riding boots. My new boots work well too, photo on profile.

MarshaBrady · 06/10/2010 10:28

Ooh Bloss they are nice! Where did you get them from?

notyummy · 06/10/2010 10:30

Nice, Blossoming!

GeorginaWorsley · 06/10/2010 10:36

ollie it is a Helly Hansen one.
I have re assessed it and I think it is too big for me as well as too puffy!
I will return it I think.

Re gloosy boots,I have these www.marksandspencer.com/Autograph-Leather-Knee-High-Boots/dp/B003OL2NXO?_encoding=UTF8&categoryNodeID=42967030&node=432769031&mnSBrand=core&ref=sr_1_9&qid=1286357717&sr=1-9&rh=&page=
and they are beautiful, really good for the money.

FritziGreenEyes · 06/10/2010 10:42

Outfit will be fine cake.

Wearing grey James Jeans for the first time today with long black top and ballet flats. Veeeery comfortable I have to admit Smile. Just noticed that I haven't got a single skirt for A/W Shock. Only trousers and dresses.

Glad you're back mrsjuan. Situation sounds difficult but hope you'll get everything sorted.

blossoming maybe you could wear jeans, plain long sleeved T, "statement necklace" (don't like that term but not sure how else to describe it) and blazer for your birthday lunch + fabulous scarf? Or what about jeans, shirt and long belted cardi like here. I think you posted that link and tried to create a similar outfit a while ago.

FritziGreenEyes · 06/10/2010 10:45

bloss Have boot envy now and want short ones too!

LetThemEatCake · 06/10/2010 10:50

Thank you.

DolceeBanana · 06/10/2010 10:51

Esher - love the boots - we have a Shoon in Bath so will do a reccy!!! They are neat and edgy enough, so thanks a million!

Cake - your outfit sounds lovely! Thoughts with you and your friends today. It's a lovely sunny day here and hope you all get some of that sunshine. Having a warm hearted friend like you must really help your friends.

Bloss - love the boots! Saw Sam Cam's piccy too (on Times) and she looks effortlessly elegant as usual. I love 'neat' well fitted coats...

Hells - liked all the things you have ordered. Good staples...should last a long while...which you can add to.

The oldest thing in my wardrobe is a full length straight neck, backless, black wool crepe slim evening gown...bought in 1992, and worn many times since. Timeless....Like you, I am now less of curve and so it is nicely skimming!

Everything and Tracey - if you do fancy a mini meet up in Bath maybe one Saturday, or even weekday...one where I have 1 or 2 kiddies count me in. It would also be lovely to maybe have a christmas 'do'...or even January 'do'...

Skiving as baby sleeping, DS playing with new toy cars, DD1 at nursery and cleaner here (so hiding away really!)........

DolceeBanana · 06/10/2010 10:52

Oh hi Cake....how you doing? Are you okay?

blossoming · 06/10/2010 11:18

marsha, they are Russell & Bromley, hence the no link. They comfortably coped with puddles, leaves, etc on school run and the leather is thick enough to hide my (ahem) bunions. Gosh I'm attractive. All down hill from here!!

traceybath · 06/10/2010 11:20

Bloss - very sad for your friend.

LTEC - outfit sounds perfect and I am thinking of you.

Walked past Comptoir today and they'd got this in the windown with black tux jacket and black vest - looked fab.

Dolcee and EIE - mini bath meet-up would be fab.

Fritzi - I love those boots and really want them in black.
