Use this thread instead! I mucked up the title of the other one Blush

Evening all

bunjies sorry to hear you've had such a rubbish day.

fel1x saw your pic of DS on FB - very cute indeed!

My asos order arrived today. I am sending both capes back as they completely swamped me and I'm reasonably tall! So still on the lookout for a coat. Also got a shirt dress that looked like a sack and leather flip flops for a seemingly-bargainous £6 but they felt plasticky so back that all goes too. Am keeping this which isn't to everyone's taste I know but works with black tank and courts for work in summer or with fine knit top and tights for winter. I love it!

Major poo incident this evening. DS started crying about 30m after he'd gone to bed. Went up there and found he had filled his nappy, stuck his hand in it and smeared it everywhere. All over his bedding, his cuddly toys, books, carpet and all over himself. DH and I did a joint effort clearing it up and rewarded ourselves with wine.

Fel1x · 13/08/2010 22:25

oh and zembo, thanks for the poncho link. I couldnt see it yest on my phone but ahve looked just now and it looks fab.
Is there a discount code kicking about does anyone know??

OllieWollieWoo · 14/08/2010 07:16

Running in and out - have a 'family day' with DH's family today - occurs once every 2 years and involves all the aunts/uncles/cousins on my MIL's side. I get to be the source of much amusement as 'The English Wife' - esp when see if my Dutch has improved since the last meet up (which it hasn't) Today involves meeting in a cafe in a wood for a pancake lunch, a session of mini golf then a walk! Be still my beating heart!

Had a v busy week with sister and her kids here - nice to them all and kids loved it but lots of noise and running around.

Libra - those boots are fab - I think I'm going to get some too! (but noted they were 10 pounds more on the Dutch website - grrrrrr!) Have been looking for some leather ones just like that in brown to replace a much loved pair that have fallen aprt from so much use. Would you also wear them with jeans tucked in (v popular style over here but not sure if its 'right')?

Have a lovely weekend all.

FritziGreenEyes · 14/08/2010 07:19

SPG10 should give you 20% off. If it still works... I'm so tempted to get the poncho too but I'm still mad at WC for messing up my order for summer.

FritziGreenEyes · 14/08/2010 07:21

Morning OWW! Glad you had a great time with your sis and all the DCs had fun. What are you going to wear for the big family do today?

OllieWollieWoo · 14/08/2010 07:30

Morning Fritzi - I love a cuppa and a MN catch up first thing in the morning! No idea re what to wear! The weather is so changeable at the moment - will prbably play it safe and go for boyfriend jeans, grey converse and probably a breton top. DH's family quite conservative and I know how these things go ie I will be running around after DSs to stop them whacking each other with golf clubs whilst DH chats away to family! Will be wearing my fake 'I'm having a lovely time' smile though as the day makes MIL's year!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 14/08/2010 08:17

Morning all,

DS picked the coldest night of the summer to wake up 5 times. He is usually so good I shouldn't complain but I am a little bleary eyed....

Plum thanks for that code for Brora but it's still out of my league with 20% off. They only sent me catalogue because I bought some wrist-warmers (whoops 3 pairs) after they had been discounted for the third time! Love that blouse you linked to in outnet for Tracey.

rufus I prefer the Alexa hobo, probably because I could get more in it! It is a statment bag but I can't help feeling it's everywhere. I am probably just jealous you are condsidering getting one...

carciofi gorgeous photo of your DD. I didn't get the tops as god knows what size/what I will look like post pregnancy however. I have a black felt trilby (think it's a mans one from Debenhams £20 about 5 yrs ago) which I wear to death in winter, I always feel a bit poncey wearing it but if you love something....

hells I like the Jill Sander and I'm sure the quality is fantastic but again for that money I would want a drop dead gorgeous dress.

tracey I hope your DS had a lovely day.

bunjies Sorry re: the interview and shit timing for them to tell you. I know what you mean, my DH would tell me there is no point in worrying as there is nothing you can do BUT THAT DOESNT STOP YOU THINKING ABOUT IT! Men. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

fritzi those knickers are lovely aren't they. I would never wear them but they made me smile to look at, I suggest buying some to make your foot feel better.....

vino that cami is gorgeously pretty. Love the VW dress as well.

bunny have you tried shoezone for wellingtons for DD, cheap as chips and do the job.

whatswrongwithyou those boots are gorgeous as well.

fleecy I like that skirt I think it will look fab as long as everything else is low key (i.e. no huge hoop earrings and tottering high heels)

OWW enjoy your family day out, your outfit sounds spot on. I'm with you, in the morning I park DS in front of Fireman Sam and have a cuppa of tea and catch up with this thread (you all natter far too late in the night for me!)

RE: Cambridge diet, I thought you had to have doctors sign off to do it? It was initially developed for the morbidly obese and was one of the better all round ones long term as it tried to address the reason you became morbidly obese with counselling. However it is bad for you really as your body does tend to shutdown and go into starvation mode. PLEASE tell me that at the very least all of you that are doing these diets whether it be Dukan, Cambridge or 500kcals a day are at least taking a multi-vitamin. Gorgeous clothes aren't going to look fantastic on some whose hair is falling out and skin is dropping off. Lecture over, sorry about that.

Yesterday http://www.isabellaoliver.com/womens-clothing/uk/600/best-sellers/AC460.html I did splash out on this beauty with the justification it would be handy for breastfeeding I got the Olive green as I think I need more earthy tones to bring out my natural glow (a ha ha ha!) but really love the merlot colour. Have asked parents for House of Colour analysis for b'day.

Off to buy the fake suede biker boots and then CARD away (until I at least get me health in pregnancy grant).

Hope all have a good weekend.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 14/08/2010 08:21

Try again with the link.

I did splash out on this beauty with the justification it would be handy for breastfeeding (and 33% off)

carciofi · 14/08/2010 12:10

That card is lovely Libra and a good price.

Cool skirt, Fleecy.

I have just stomped home from the hairdresser, I went in for a manicure (which I did have but already smudged) and haircut and tint, they messed up the appointment and now can't fit me in before I go to Ireland.

Have a good weekend all.

Fleecy · 14/08/2010 13:03

libra that's lovely. And sadly, you could probably get wear out of it in our so-called summer!

carciofi how very annoying. No wonder you stomped.

tmi alert - do not read if squeamish or eating! Well following the poo incident last night things got worse when one of the cats caught a mouse. Now I'm not parcticularly bothered by mice and this does happen from time to time so we have a special cup hidden away that we use for mice/frogs/spiders etc to pop over them, slide a piece of card underneath and pop them outside (no-one ever drinks from it, I hasten to add...). The only problem was, DH only half caught the mouse and slammed the cup down on it's neck, inadvertantly killing it. Oh I felt so very queasy seeing it's little bulging eyes. Yuck! It was awful - still making me shudder today!

Fleecy · 14/08/2010 13:25

libra may I pick your brains? I go away in three weeks and although I've lost all my baby weight I would like to be a bit slimmer for hols. Am 5ft8 and currently 9st13 but would like to be 9st7.

So how does this sound - egg for brekkie, oatcakes, cold meat and veg sticks for lunch or a prawn and veg omelette, meat and salad or casserole with veg for dinner, low fat yogurt, brazil nuts or glass of skimmed milk for snacks.

Am doing two cardio and two strength training sessions each week and have a piece of wholewheat toast with marmite (no butter) with breakfast on exercise days.

Do you think that would be fine?Would I need more carbs on exercise days?

bunjies · 14/08/2010 15:52

Liking the skirt fleecy.

Fritzi - hope your foot's better today.

Libra - don't worry I only do 500cals on alternate days and eat like a pig normally on other days. It's supposed to work well for people like me who have a very slow metabolism by shocking your body into losing the weight as it never knows where you are and so doesn't go into starvation mode. The cals are supposed to average out to be about 1250 per day and as you're only doing the v low cal thing every other day it doesn't feel so bad. Problem is I used to be low carb but since doing this I've been on them again and so am not gettng the results I want and my skin is terrible. So I think when I get back from hols I'm going to do the same method but low carb instead.

Not very exciting but these boots are on my A/W wishlist. I love the simple shape and the bonus is that they will fit round my tree trunk muscly calves.

These are cute.

OMG only £19 for these Surely someone needs some lavender coloured shoes.

FritziGreenEyes · 14/08/2010 16:12

fleecy - Hope your DD is better and that you can soon forget about that poor mouse... The skirt is great but I couldn't pull it off I think.

Managed to squeeze foot and bandage into a cheap H&M plimsoll with laces undone. Didn't look so bad and have taken tablets for the pain. Thanks for all the good wishes!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 14/08/2010 16:21

fleecy As I can't see you in front of me I checked your BMI instead and you are a great weight for your height but I understand your wish to lose some for holidays, doesn't everyone.

Breakfast I would add to the egg for breakfast otherwise you will be starving and more tempted to snack inappropriately (seeds are good for you and a great snack but the amount of calories they contain.....)
boiled egg and plain yogurt with fruit and small handful of seeds, small glass of fruit juice or boiled egg with wholemeal toast and plain yogurt with fruit and small glass of fruit juice if exercising later (but before lunch),

lunch Not all oatcakes are created equal, I think Nairns are suppose to be amongst the healthiest. I wouldn't have another egg (i.e. omelette) if you are having egg for breakfast. veg sticks good, cold meat ok what about tuna sometimes or as you have suggested prawns. Another idea is to make a cous cous salad as cous cous is another great GI food and so quick to make a salad with, just add cucumber/tomato/watercress/peppers etc.

Suppers sound fine, just remember to pile your plate with the veg and cut off any fat on the meat (and try and make sure it's good quality meat). How about having baked or broiled fish with veg?

Rather than just have a bigger breakfast on gym days I would add a snack after the gym, something like an apple or 1/2 wholemeal pita bread and hummous (just be careful with amount of hummous) or 1/2 wholemeal pita with tuna.

As for other snacks, the problem with nuts is that they are yummy and full of calories and most people have a problem controlling how many they eat. I would for the 3 weeks just try and keep to raw veg such as carrot sticks, celery, cucumber, baby tomatoes, pepper, sugar snap peas as snacks. Also a big fan of the when you feel hungry drink a pint of water first and then re-assess, so many people are dehydrated rather than hungry.

The key is to plan ahead so you are not caught on the hop and reaching for an unhealthy calorie laden alternative. 10 minutes an evening chopping, making and planning for the next day can save you lots of calories! Try to go for good quality ingredients and avoid low-fat if you can (but that's a little bug bear of mine I think it is nicer to have a smaller portion of the full fat stuff!) Also keeping a food diary can discourage cheating and if you do you can see if there is a pattern.

tbh you have 3 weeks so i really wouldn't expect you to lose much in that time because of the fact you are already a healthy slim weight, remember that a pound of fat is approx 3500 calories you need to deficit.

Hope this helps a little, you probably know most of this, most women do ingrained over the years!

benjies love the boots, simple and classy.

ApuskiDusky · 14/08/2010 17:27

Hello everyone, popping in after too long an absence to say hello - DH has taken ds1 and ds2 out for a walk/jump in puddles so I have a little bit of peace for once. I have been reading - I can manage to read threads on my iphone during the constant bfeeding - but I haven't mastered posting whilst feeding yet! A still needs too much latch assistance!

Glad to hear of people having lovely holidays, with some still to come; and all the talk and links of A/W is making me want to make more purchases, but I need to hang on a little longer for most things. I'm in the weird position of not wanting to lose any weight but lose the preg belly, not sure how that will work!

I have just realised that I will be starting a sort of school-run in September - ds1 starts preschool - so I need to buy a new coat to cope with walking with a pushchair in the rain (any excuse!). I realise this is one of those perennial mumsnet searched-for items, but don't want to resort to Landsend! This caught my eye, I like the length, the fact that it has a bit of a waist, the hood and its simplicity - but is it so simple it's boring - what do you think?

carciofi · 14/08/2010 17:30

Really like the boots Bunjies.
Love the scarf, Libra, have no idea why I wrote card instead of scarf!

Fleecy · 14/08/2010 17:40

libra thank you so much for taking the time! The problem is that most of my 'knowledge' is gleaned from diet books so they all have their own agenda and I'm never sure what to believe Grin

Am also wary of the food pyramid thing and the amount of carbs recommended as I'm fairly sedentary on non-gym days and just not sure I need them those days. WIll up the breakfast and buy in more veg.

I meal plan and on work days I prepare lunch in advance so that shouldn't be a problem. Thanks again, you star!

Hi apuski Glad to hear you're keeping well. The jacket doesn't set my heart racing but it is a great shape and should be flattering. Like the way they've styled it with the red for a splash (excuse the pun - splash, wellies) of colour.

fritzi ouch! Wincing for you wedging foot into shoes!

vinovino · 14/08/2010 17:52

Gorgeous boots bunjies, and lovely jacket apuski. It's really smart but soft and not try hard at all and nowhere near verging on landsend (no offence to landsend owners) does that make sense!? looks great with jeans, very wise Grin

timeless and lovely scarf libra and 33% off..

hope you recover from your traumas fleecy!!

I have been appalling this pm and have ruined my credit card with my shameless hijack of monkeymama's jacket Blush mm, I promise I won't start stalking you Grin it just looked so..lovely.. and erm, it's nearly my birthday [vin lies to justify purchase]
oh and I may have got another plain black anglomania dress which I figure although is just too much money and is just jersey badunwisevin it could be very wise because if it fits like the other one but in a size down, and makes me feel great, then I can wear it loads A/W/S and also to work. There- cost per wear it makes sense!

OK so as I have been a bit naughty I will firmly not buy anything at all until the end of September Shock yes, that is correct, no more shopping for vin until exams over, back to work getting paid and I have a friend visiting from the US which will be great as haven't seen her in 4 years and need to book her a hotel.

Re lipstick I think I'd need to avoid orangeyred and all the ones I have tried seem quite orangey, will wander into MAC as per advice when next near one dodging helpful sales staff who I cant stand, I really want a bright deep scarlet red

Still lusting after leopard print scarves too.. I've been traceyed Smile

carciofi · 14/08/2010 17:59

Oooh, I like that Apuski, esp with the red Hunters!

Vinovino, I got two lovely leopard prints scarves recently, a red one from Lily & Lionel and a pink DVF from My-Wardrobe. Check out MAC Russian Red.

ApuskiDusky · 14/08/2010 18:16

Oh, lordy, sold out in a 10 and one left in an 8, better get on with it!

AMEX25 doesn't work any more - anyone know of another one?( carciofi, oh queen of the codes?)

Fleecy · 14/08/2010 18:17

carciofi I was also going to recommend Russian Red. A friend of mine who loves her lippy swears that's the perfect red. So two votes for that!

carciofi · 14/08/2010 18:28

no, sorry Apuski. They owe us a new code!

ApuskiDusky · 14/08/2010 18:47

Wow, the shock of ordering something full price from my-wardrobe! Well, I have laid claim to the last size 8, I'll see what it's like when it gets here. (I also ordered a cardigan here as I thought I'd take advantage of the free postage!)

PlumSykes · 14/08/2010 20:01

Love the coat, Apuski. Bet it's not even a bit waterproof, but my word if's nice!

Vino, for a true red lippy, I'd recommend either Chanel Pirate, or NARS Jungle Red. Both wonderful colours. MAC do some too, but I prefer the luxe factor of applying from a swish tube.
