Whelk - Lots of bf jeans here. They are not as easy to find as 2/3 years ago - none in Gap/Top Shop.

Slightly different from what I usually post about handbags but I'm really loving these:

www.amazon.co.uk/Gola-Redford-Vintage/dp/B0031KHMV6/ref=pd_sim_sbs_sh_2

www.amazon.co.uk/Gola-Reynolds-Collective-Sports-TUB006/dp/B003KRPA1E/ref=sr_1_49?ie=UTF8&s=shoes&qid=1281531031&sr=8-49

Sometimes different is good, and they would go with my jeans and hoody look better than a leather bag!!!

traceybath · 11/08/2010 14:01

Hello ladies.

Well inspection was fine in general however they moaned that we hadn't done enough gardening. Hmm no - because you went ballistic at previous tenants for touching the garden so we've just mowed the lawn really.

Quite annoyed really as we pay quite a lot of rent and they have done nothing to the house since we've been here and its so scruffy and needs tens of thousands spending on it.

Oh well has motivated me to stop frittering money away and save properly for house Shock

I can't get on with gap nowadays - just find the quality shoddy and everything stretches dreadfully.

Have birthday cake to make tomorrow as H is 6 on Friday!

HF - glad you had lovely holiday and that your DH is going to be around for the next 3 years

hf128219 · 11/08/2010 14:10

Has anyone bought a cape?

these are nice Particularly the navy one.

traceybath · 11/08/2010 14:14

I've got my white company poncho but haven't worn it as yet so won't be buying a cape.

However those look nice HF.

Right just been on dukan and it says my true weight is 7st4lbs which is odd as I definitely feel fat and have muffin top/tummy at that weight.

hf128219 · 11/08/2010 14:17

Is the White Company poncho nice? I presume it is! Any discount codes around?

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 11/08/2010 14:24

I do like the capes I just can't help the feeling that they wouldn't look flattering on anyone.

mrsjuan · 11/08/2010 14:37

I know what you mean about the capes libra - I like the look of that navy one hf but I think you'd have to stand the way the model is standing all the time to make it look any good Confused

I have said it before but bloody hell Tracey- you must be sooo tiny! However - surely if you were that weight and muscular / toned you wouldn't have a tummy or muffin top?

Sounds like you were damned if you did and damned if you didn't wrt to the inspection.

I wonder how it works it out - does the maximum you've ever weighed come into the calculations? Because I was massive in my first year at uni but that was an abberation caused by far too much curry, alcohol and ice cream. I don't think I could get that heavy again if I tried!

DolceeBanana · 11/08/2010 14:44

Humph....Yes, one of those days!

Libra - like those M&S boots too! I have Ash taupe low tops in grey satin which I like...they are nicely worn in now, and look good with skinnies etc...

Tracey - feel for you re rented place...Ours the same, superficially looks alright but owners are as tight as wax here too....I am getting tired of being here...it's not my style at all and want desperately to get our own place...fingers crossed we both get lovely homes soon Wink

Just sent DH some houses via email at work....nice one in Charlcombe....but he wants coun'ry only...although I fancy a short hop into Bath!!!

Oh, and re weight...think even if you are super skinny you get fat days...am lightest for a few years at 8 stone 2, and yet only last night was moaning how fat I felt to DH...he was really sweet, so boosted my confidence, although I'm sure he thinks I am a little obsessed - moi? But it's easy to get fixated isn't it?

I want the poncho too...looks fab shape, but spent so much recently DH will be Hmm if I have any more deliveries, and like you Tracey have another birthday coming up (DD1 who will be 3 on 18th), plus...mine and DHs...oh, would be rude not to buy oneself a little treat though? Grin

I need to make a cake next week...I'm making the Annie Bell Angel cake decorated in pink fairies etc....and getting together some delicious food for a picnic this weekend as we are off to the Balloon Festival for DDs special treat....

Did we organise any date yet for meet up, or have we all bottled out on account of Hells Mallorca photos on fb?

Hope your meeting goes well today Cake - what you wearing?

Oh, have a girls hen night this weekend...Lordy (as Tb says), I'm not sure I can stand the pace....I'm seriously worried about the inability to stay the course......

Sorry longwinded post....have been domestic goddess this morning as cleaner on hols...and so just a tad cabin feverish...to the park this pm !!!

DolceeBanana · 11/08/2010 14:46

Yes, indeed Tracey - you must be soooo small at that weight..how tall are you again?

traceybath · 11/08/2010 14:53

MrsJ - I'm only 5ft though so shouldn't weigh much really and I am so not toned.

My mum should be dropping in soon as she's down this way with work - boys very excited to see granny.

Dolcee - wheres the hen weekend?

notyummy · 11/08/2010 14:58

Thought people were talking about either 9th or 16th Oct for meet up Dolcee?

The 'true weight' thing is done via a series of questions. Build/lowest and highest adult weight/whether you lose or gain weight easily etc. Interestingly no mention of what level of exercise someone does - would have thought if someone does a lot of strength training then they could quite easily weigh more, but actually look slimmer. The weight it gave me was achieveable - although I put myslef down as a 'small frame', and tbh I am probably not, so that is why I think it has given me a weight about 5lbs lighter than I am (thats what I am telling myself anyway!)

7 stone 4! Surely no one could muffiny at that weight - even if you are petite! You must be imagining it Tracey!

OP posts:
DolceeBanana · 11/08/2010 15:00

Tracey I am sure you look very slim indeed...you are teeny!

The hen night- night only - thank god, is at a restaurant in Bristol...taxi there and back rather late...are you off to RajPpoot this weekend with H?

Hope you have a nice time with your Mum...!

VerityBrulee · 11/08/2010 15:46

Quick hello to mark my place Smile

Just got email about new Toast collection, haven't looked at it all, but the coats look good, navy Pea Coat for you Tracey

FritziGreenEyes · 11/08/2010 17:26

Inspired by your comments on side-tie bikinis I went hunting for one today. And came back with a winter coat Grin. Will try to link later.

bunjies · 11/08/2010 17:39

Jumping in to mark my place. Another one who has pre-registered for Olympics tickets. My parents live in East London so theoretically will have easy access to the site.

Fleecy · 11/08/2010 18:07

Afternoon!

Welcome back from hols hf Glad you had a good time and fab news about your DH's job.

bunjies saw your DD on FB - so cute!

libra I have some minky/grey boots - like those minky/grey boots. They are rather comfy and they look fab with rolled up skinnies or boyfriend jeans and a plain tee and scarf. Or Breton. And they work with leggings, dresses etc. Very versatile.

It was me after a faux fur leopard print coat (and hells I think?) but I am going to trawl charity shops first.

Am also considering this. What do you ladies think? I also like this in the khaki but they don't have my size. They have a camel one but I'm not keen on the toggle buttons and contrasting trim.

16th October is good for me. Can't do 9th unfortunately.

rufus101 · 11/08/2010 18:53

Love the first one Fleecy, I think the cape would swamp, unless you're really tall.
Have been looking at the Great Plains site. Some lovely stuff like this dress And this would be lovely for workFor some reason I think you'd like this skirt NotYummy. I like the colours, although I tend to favour dresses rather than searching for a matching top in the mornings. Am lazy like that! Now this is a nice school run coat Could easily see myself in that!
TB you are sooh tiny, just a slip of a thing. You are imagining muffin top. Not possible.
Your DH sounds like mine Dolcee. He's utterly blind to my physical imperfections, thank God. Great for confidence boosting.

FritziGreenEyes · 11/08/2010 19:13

Thanks notyummy for starting a new thread!

Glad you had a great holiday hf! Great news regarding your DH's job. Must be a relief to know that you don't have to move any time soon.

rufus - Houlilikeys is my word of the day! Like the Great Plains dresses. Second one similar in style to the Phase Eight one blossoming linked to the other day, the Carla-Brunilike one.

I'm in awe of your determination to hunt down those GAP suede wedges libra. Fingers crossed you get your pair soon! For me the trainers would be a bit too bling, but as you intend to scruff them a bit soon and at that price it seems a good bargain.

tracey - Inspection sounds stressful. Just be glad that it's over and enjoy your evening! Hope you find somewhere nice to live soon. And dolcee-family too!

I think mrsjuan you are right about that cape and having to keep model-like posture at all times to make sure it looks elegant. Can imagine it would bulge up if you had it on in the car with seat-belt strapped over. And you probably can't use a shoulder bag.

Sorry fleecy didn't know it was leopard you're looking for. The M&S coat I saw in Red Magazine wouldn't have been right then. Another vote for the first coat you linked to.

Can't find picture of my coat online. It is a German brand, Strenesse, but they don't have it on their website.

carciofi · 11/08/2010 19:15

Hi everyone.
Fleecey, I prefer the hooded military cape. I like the first one from the front but think it is a bit bulky at the back. You are very slim though, I think, so it would look good.

HF, White Co poncho is gorgeous. I think 10K3A works for 20% off.

The DKNY cozy arrived and is a lovely pink. No more shopping for me this week as I have spent too much recently. Anyway, I still haven't solved the mystery of the missing credit card! I'm going to Dublin at the weekend for a few weeks so will look out for you, Verity and Rufus!

LTEC, hope you have a fab holiday.

notyummy · 11/08/2010 19:36

Rufus - you are right, I do like that skirt! I have 3 or 4 tulip skirts - find them really flattering on me, as they disguise the hip/thigh area but emphasis the waist which is my strong point.

Lie those dresses too.

OP posts:
notyummy · 11/08/2010 19:38

Fleecy - the first of the two capes you linked to is very nice and I think the most wearable I have seen. The others all look like they could give you jazz hands, as I think someone said earlier!

OP posts:
FritziGreenEyes · 11/08/2010 20:10

Just tried on my new coat again and I think it doesn't look right. Too big on me and not at all that flattering as I thought Shock. Will ask my Mum for honest opinion at the weekend and might take it back. What was I thinking? Maybe August isn't the right time to buy warm coats.... Should have gone for a bikini instead.

Sorry that was all me, me, me, but I hate when that happens. I'm usually not a ditherer when it comes to clothes, but at that price a coat should be perfect I think.

carciofi · 11/08/2010 20:29

Maybe size down, Fritzi? Or hang in there for more winter stock.

MM, can't remember which day is your birthday but I think it is soon, so tanti auguri and hope you get your leather jacket. Happy birthday to Tracey also in case I don't get on again before I go.

I have just been compiling my wish lists on my-wardrobe and NAP while eating chicken, lentil and pine nut salad (healthy apart from the large glass of wine on the side). Oh for a lottery win!

FritziGreenEyes · 11/08/2010 20:43

Salad sounds yummy carciofi. What's on your wishlist?
