Morning ladies! Rainy day here today. Will probably wear chinos, silk blouse and trench when going out later. Or maybe we just stay in. I wouldn't mind but DD and DH always get cabin fever really fast.

Have fun at the festival today everything!

What is everybody else doing today?

FritziGreenEyes · 15/08/2010 08:50

Forgot to say: Welcome back Apuski! Jacket looks like a wise investment. Sometimes understated is best I think. And you can always dress it up with a great colourful scarf or coloured wellies. I was tempted to buy silver Hunters last autumn but then decided on safe but boring dark blue Aigles.

OllieWollieWoo · 15/08/2010 09:03

Survived family day yesterday - weather was great so we had a long lunch on a terrace (pancakes all round) and then played the longest game of mini golf ever! Went on and on - but boys and DH enjoyed it (DS2 whacked MIL in the face with his little golf club tho when he got a bit over excited! Got lots of Shock looks from the Aunts and Uncles but thankfully no damage to MIL's face!). My limited Dutch was, as expected, the source of much amusement but I just smiled politely, gritted teeth, thought evil thoughts etc etc!

Like the jacket too Apuski. I brought this one (for the school run) from Next on a whim here and really like it - says its blue but I thought it was a dark grey. Not as shiney in RL as in pic and good for just throwing on and jumping on the bike. Even has a hood of sorts (jersey thing in collar).

Lazy day planned today as school starts tomorrow so need to get my head around doing the school run, packed lunches and snacks etc etc. Plus DS1's party for his school friends on Weds afternoon tho think about!

notyummy · 15/08/2010 09:43

Hi all

Just a quicky as insanely busy weekend. Hope you are enjoying Goodwood Everything.

Some lovely links but no time to comment!

Welcome back Apuski.

DHs birthday today. Bacon sandwiches in bed this morning, but not much of a day of rest as 8 people for dinner this evening, including 3 staying the night, so house tidying and food prep a lot of the day.

MIL and her DH left yesterday afternoon. Were out for posh meal on Friday. Wore black satin tulip skirt - this with blue silk blouse, black heels and new black trench.

Gorgeous outfit notyummy. Happy birthday to Mr. Notyummy!

RedBlueRed · 15/08/2010 20:43

More houlihan-a-likes with a very wise price tag skinny-cargo-pants for anyone still interested.

OllieWollieWoo · 15/08/2010 22:03

V quiet on here this evening!

Just seen this pea coat which I thought was a v nice shape - shame about the high polyester content tho!
here

School run starts tomorrow so off to bed now having put out lunchboxes and rucksacks etc! Seems way too soon!

traceybath · 15/08/2010 22:23

Fleecy - possible cape?

bunnymother · 15/08/2010 22:24

Uber quick post from me... Anyone know where I can get wellies for DD - size UK 4 / Eur 20? Not loving Asda or Next options and Zara don't do them.

traceybath · 15/08/2010 22:26

I like aigle for children Bunny.

ApuskiDusky · 15/08/2010 22:35

Bunny, I got ds1's waterproofs and wellies from spotty otter, and both have been fab.

VerityBrulee · 15/08/2010 23:10

OWW it is much too soon to be doing the school run again Sad, hope you settle back into a routine again whitout too much trouble. Btw, I would love to hit my MIL over the head with a golf club at times Wink

Weather was amazing here this weekend Shock We haven't had 2 sunny days in a row sice June. Sunshine is bliss isn't it? I find my whole outlook on life is transformed by the sun! Sadly the sky here is grey for what seems like 360 days a year.

Went to 2 childrens birthday parties this weekend and massively over-indulged in rice crispie cakes, my guilty pleasure Blush

Everything would love to have gone to Goodwood, dying to know what you got!

Fritzi hope your foot is on the mend Smile

Hopefully more sunny days for us all this week

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 16/08/2010 07:39

OWW Love that coat, great neck and fantastic budget option who cares if it only lasts one winter at that price.

bunny *looks around furtively and whispers (shoezone)

DS at nursery today so have one client and then spending the rest of the day DOING STUFF (tax return, dry cleaner for winter coats - yes I know it should have been done at the end of last winter, cleaning house) so will be back on tonight.

Happy Monday everyone Smile (DS only woke twice last night so I might be a little sleep happy)

OllieWollieWoo · 16/08/2010 08:09

Right - back from the school run (summary: raining hard, horse pulling large organ playing happy tunes in playground, 1 very excited DS1, 1 mildly excited DS2 at pre-school, lots of relieved looking parents, 1 rusty nail my my car wheel - why me?!)

Bunny - I always get M&S ones but Joules ones are v good quality. Their A/W isnt all in yet but they have these here
Libra - I love the NL coat too, will look out for it instore to see what the quality is like. Did you order those great boots from la redoute? I'm really interested to see what they are like - do you think they would be rain proof ie not have funny marks on them if they get wet?

Interesting article in DM re Net a Porter here and a few suggestions on camel coloured clothing here - I like the M&S cashmere cardi.

traceybath · 16/08/2010 08:09

Morning - wow the sun is out so am going to put on a dress for the first time in weeks.

Chores to do today and perhaps a little gardening - what fun!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 16/08/2010 08:23

OWW They are on order, when they get here I will hand them over to DH to do his shoe magic on (god knows what he does he has a bag of shoe stuff which I am not allowed to touch) and then hopefully they won't get funny marks. Will let you know what they look like. The M&S cashmere cardi might make you look pregnant with all that spare material over the tummy IYSWIM. I like the Topshop snood jumper and would wear it with skinny jeans and high heeled victorian boots if I was a size 10 and not pregnant (oh and wore high heels)

tracey I am in awe of your commitment to looking good but gardening in a dress!

Right. Now I am really going.

FritziGreenEyes · 16/08/2010 08:46

Morning!

DD's first day back in kindergarden after the holidays. Rain here too OWW... How annoying about nail in your car wheel. Doesn't feel like August when it is rainy and cold. We cancelled our BBQ yesterday and got pizza instead.

Verity and Tracey - Enjoy the sunshine! Skip the gardening tracey and relax on a deckchair in your lovely dress. I did that the other day but didn't feel comfortable when I saw my 89 year-old next door neighbour working in her vegetable garden. At least I didn't have a cocktail only a cup of tea.

Love your imaginary outfit libra! Hope my foot will be better soon so I can wear heels again.

Will check out links now.

PlumSykes · 16/08/2010 08:59

Bunny, the Jojo wellies look sweet.

bunnymother · 16/08/2010 08:59

Morning! Grey skies, so its at least got me motivated to buy DD's wellies (shoezone - thanks for the suggestions! Will spend more when she doesn't change sizes every few months...) and am about to order her a Mac, too. My outdoorsy precious.

Vin - gorgeous Anglo dress, and enjoy the leather jacket! Can't remember other links...

OWW - isn't the DVF camel jacket just lovely?! Went into Zara yesterday and they had a nice looking camel coat, but I will obv have to wait until next winter before making purchases (unless the Gods of Weightloss smile on me and I can get back to my normal size in time to pick up something nice in the sales...)

Have lovely days!

monkeysmama · 16/08/2010 10:23

Hello

Am a bit tired after a weekend of birthday celebrations.

VinoVino I am glad you've got the jacket? Has it arrived yet and what do you think?

Tracey your mention of sunshine is making me so jealous. I can't believe how grey London is. My tan has faded and I feel so pale and in dire need of sun. Luckily we are going away in September so not all bad Grin.

Did anyone else get the asos houlilikies? I wore mine twice this weekend (with a wash in between - trousers and me of course!) and they seem to have become a bit baggy Hmm. La Redoute ones still in basket as all the codes seem to have stopped working for me. Will order when cc paid off!

Is Cakey away?

Hope you're feeling ok Bunny. It must feel heavy carrying twins. I loved being pg and did the one thing everyone advises against spending a fortune on maternity gear. I had to hide it at work for so long I needed quality camouflage.

Right, nap time then my first Shred Hmm. What does one wear to Shred at home?

PlumSykes · 16/08/2010 10:44

Lovely sunny day here. Am in French Conn. floral cotton frock and freshly painted orange pedi, have just filled the paddling pool, plan to spend day planting lavender and pottering outside. I need to give the tortoise a bath at some time, but need to do it when DD's not around to see, in case she decides to do it herself one day.

Picky bits from M&S on the grass for lunch today, I think.

Spent 5 hrs in the car with the DCs yesterday visting DH's family for a BBQ, while DH himself was on a boys' weekend in London. Hmm Was a complete style wasteland. Cut off shorts and ghastly cheap vest tops all round. I felt red-carpet-ready by comparison, albeit just in a navy jersey dress and leather flipflops.

OWW, and intrieged by idea of horse-drawn-organ at school. How very odd!

MM La Cake is camping, poor soul

FritziGreenEyes · 16/08/2010 10:50

Tortoise bath just made me smile plum.

We had a snail on our deck outside yesterday and fed it some rocket from the fridge. DD called her Lola.

DolceeBanana · 16/08/2010 11:11

Hi all

Lovely sunshine here too...! Smile for a change....

Manic weekend and busy countdown now to DD1s birthday so birthday cake made, and ready for decoration (the best bit!!!)...I can indulge myself completely in all things pink and purple, as DD loves....she has interestingly however, asked for a red bike (phew!!!!-subliminal messaging has worked!!!!)... Wink

Countdown also to first of weddings this weekend, and night away sans enfants(!), so need to be ultra organised, i.e. meals made etc to leave with my parents.

I have an appalling mouth ulcer! Soooo painful - actually feeling a bit run down...so must perk up for Saturday or I'll spoil the opportunity to try and have a bit of a rest (lie in on Sunday am particularly attractive prospect!!!)...

Right, off to get cards etc for DD1 so catch you later...n.b. Aigle great wellies...have ordered DD2 (10 months) the teeny pair in red to go with her red duffel coat. Awwwww.........Poor Cake, camping....hope the weather is good for you...I so hate camping having done it this year! Never, ever again....

notyummy · 16/08/2010 12:03

Hello all!

Trying to catch up whilst hungover after a V social weekend.

MM - shredding at home...I would say a good sports bra and trainers are the only essentials - everything else optional! I have been known to exercise in short or pants and sports bra, with no top....to save on the washing. Blush

Like the peacoat and cape that Tracey and OWW linked to.

Am jealous of those of you with sunshine - no sun here, and quite windy. Feels pretty chilly tbh.

Had a pretty successful party last night (so successful that we ended up with even more people staying overnight than we intended after a booze and taxis mix-up.....!) Both our spare rooms were already in use, but we dragged the blow up double bed foro the garage and the unexpected guests bedded down in the living room.

Made my chilli chorizo thing that we discussed on the last thread with salad and couscous, plus this for dessert.

Wore new maxi skirt that I am v pleased with, and stripey top

Doing some work from home now in my rather weakened state, but have to start thinking about packing for canal boat trip on Wednesday, as will be at work tomorrow. We going to Oxfordshire and the weather forecast is not good - luckily only on boat for 36 hours so need not worry too much about dd going stir crazy on narrow boat in the rain. Also have to pack for Tuscan trip as only one day at home after the canal boat before we leave for Italy....if the unions and BAA don't contrive to ruin it for us that is!

Hope those of you planning to relax in the garden have a lovely time. I will just have to experience it vicariously through you!
