Notyummy, wise to avoid shrivenham. V dull!

monkeysmama · 12/08/2010 10:05

Hello.

bunnymother · 12/08/2010 12:19

Thanks for the sympathies re DD's shoe! Was quite annoyed w myself so rang DH who pointed out that our children are all healthy so what does a shoe matter? God love the man, he is so "healthy" like that. On the positive side, DD is now wearing the next size up (no more stock in the size I lost) and they are silver (I lost a white shoe) - look gorgeous!

Choo - you are too much, your outfits are just . Makes me smile.

Vin - have also been thinking of you quite a bit and hoping you are OK.

Tracey - ooh, enjoy shopping for Bea's new shoes!

Dolce - my knee high boots are from Hobbs and am v happy w them (2 years old now), and have just enough heel to give me a lift, but can walk in all day - the Holy Grail of boots. Very nice w woollen inserts, too - love the snug warm feeling!

Thanks for the poncho endorsement!

bunnymother · 12/08/2010 12:19

Good luck on flight Roary!!

Zembo · 12/08/2010 12:59

Hi ladies, I wore my WC poncho today (to take DCs to the dentist Grin) - wore with indigo skinnies (first time I've had these out all 'summer', so rather pleased I've lasted this long) and some heeled Hobbs boots. The poncho is just fab - Tracey you must wear yours. I think I can only wear with heeled boots though, doesn't look right with flats somehow.

Bunny I've got those Hobbs boots too - I wear them to work in the winter - might get another pair this year.

Haven't really thought about what I want for next season, but I LOVE A/W clothes. Will def give the camel trend a miss as the colour doesn't suit me. Love the jewel colours though so will probably end up overdosing on those!

NY I've already worn the rasberry bargain dress from oliver bonas - wore it to work, it's really lovely - thanks again!

Roary have a great time!

Tracey - I can relate to having a muffin top at 7.5 stones! but only when I wear certain clothes.

Vin was thinking about you yesterday

Some bargains to be had in the Little London sale - Cake's gorgeous shoes have been reduced further but not available in my size Sad

MarshaBrady · 12/08/2010 13:16

I like AW too Zembo. The prices are about triple SS however. For the NaP stuff at least.

Love the sound of that poncho you guys have.

VerityBrulee · 12/08/2010 13:33

It is so chilly here today you could definately get away with AW clothes

I've been trying to push that navy poncho out of my mind, but navy is my colour, and I'm always cold, so .......

I'm not planning on any big purchases, I have lovely coats and boots from last year, and have just given my <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.ie/imgres?imgurl=www.emphaticnyc.com/product_thumb.php%3Fimg%3Dimages/eb122.jpg%26w%3D315px%26h%3D420&imgrefurl=www.stylehive.com/tag/naplak&usg=__do46YA7DijymHZ_PV6m5Rf-pZYY=&h=420&w=315&sz=16&hl=en&start=0&tbnid=VYsGGO1T02NsoM:&tbnh=117&tbnw=95&prev=/images%3Fq%3Danya%2Bhindmarch%2Blautner%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1T4DAIE_en-GBIE308IE310%26biw%3D1345%26bih%3D505%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=396&vpy=157&dur=453&hovh=259&hovw=194&tx=99&ty=158&ei=b-ljTIHfM6GiOMq23KsJ&oei=b-ljTIHfM6GiOMq23KsJ&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=28&ved=1t:429,r:11,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Anya Hindmarch bag a makeover by taking off the handle and replacing it with a chain so I can wear it cross body or on my shoulder. My more versatile and v wise Smile

carciofi · 12/08/2010 13:54

Lovely bag, Verity. Excellent, I am going to bring my poncho to Dublin instead of a sundress.

It is quite autumnal here today so I am in J Brands and navy White co top.

Dolcee, I think I will get the Burberry or the Barbour in October. I don't need more skinny jeans and I have a similar top to the J Crew one so won't buy those. See how sensible I am. :)

Bon voyage, Roary

carciofi · 12/08/2010 13:57

And hello to MM. Grin

bunnymother · 12/08/2010 14:00

My chompers are getting too yellowed for my liking. Anyone got any great tooth whitening tips? Am aware that will have to check if safe whilst pregnant. Marie Claire have an offer for a Covent Garden dental "spa" (isn't that just a glorified dentist's office??) for £140, being 75% off that has me thinking. It's laser tooth whitening. Thoughts oh wise ladies?

VerityBrulee · 12/08/2010 14:01

Don't forget a wooly hat Carciofi! We walked the pier at Poolbeg the other day and the sea breeze was icy, my ears there ringing from the cold. Have a lovely time despite the weather, I'm sure having you and dd around will cheer your dad up Smile

Saw an Anya Barbour in a magazine, maybe Red, it looked gorgeous. May spend my student grant on it Blush Start college on Sept 13th, am very excited, looking at stationary and propelling pencils!

notyummy · 12/08/2010 14:06

Bunny - that sound s like a good deal. My teeth are also too yellow and I have been thinking of something similar - the dentist ones I had seen were all minimum of £400 so was looking at home kits instead.

verity - Are you going to write your name (and that of your favourite band...) inside your pencil case with tipp-ex and get some scratch and sniff stickers? Grin

OP posts:
carciofi · 12/08/2010 14:08

Thanks Verity. So exciting, I'd love to be a student again.

carciofi · 12/08/2010 14:13

Bunny, I haven't had my teeth whitened professionally but I brush my teeth with baking soda every so often to whiten them. Tastes vile though.

traceybath · 12/08/2010 14:24

Afternoon!

Happy flying Roary.

Tis chilly here too - am in skinnies and cashmere.

Have just made Nigella's chocolate fudge cake for DS1's birthday tomorrow - looks good.

As I need to be a bit more wise with my spending what I'd like for winter is:

  • some new underwear
  • socks and tights
  • a navy coat
  • a pretty silk/chiffon blouse
  • a knitted warm dress
  • a long sleeved jersey dress
  • some basic long sleeved tops for layering

Writing it down that actually looks pretty avid Blush

traceybath · 12/08/2010 14:25

Oh - NAP mag arrived this morning - am saving it for later to peruse with a glass of wine once dc's in bed.

DolceeBanana · 12/08/2010 15:24

Hey!

Yes, chilly...skinnies and cotton layers here!!!

Just had hair done (highlights and cut/blowdry)...so feeling groomed and had good chat/relax session sans enfants...

Your list looks very avid, Tracey....I'd like some dresses too...a couple of knitted ones, and a black jersey dress for winter nights out!

Bunny /Zembo - I love my Hobbs boots and may have to get them in black, but don't think they have that style at the mo....? Not on website anyway...

I probably need some shoe boots too....

Love choc cake - sounds like a gorgeous birthday cake Tracey-yum!

DolceeBanana · 12/08/2010 15:26

And, very sensible Carciofi! Wore my leoprad ballets today and always think of you!!!

DolceeBanana · 12/08/2010 15:27

Leoprad is a very new, totally radical animal print by the way...

Oh, really like the Holly Fulton jewellery btw....but £££s so probably definitely won't be getting any of that!

rufus101 · 12/08/2010 16:34

OMG can't wait to have a good trawl of the Little London site Zeembo. looks like lots of bargains!

Re yellow teeth BM mine became very yellow during pregnancy, so much do that I was very self conscious and even DH who bless him is not the most observant commented. Dentist said that my gums were bleeding due to the pregnancy and it was staining my teeth. He made one of those little gumsheilds for me and I used the hydrogen peroxide gel. It was amazing. After just 2 nights my teeth were back to normal.
Now I use these things called Whizzers strips. I can get them in my local pharmacy for 30?. I find them great. Carciofi you'll be able to pick some up when you're home. Much nicer than bread soda! I've also used the Crest Whitening Strips, but prefer these. Both good though.

carciofi · 12/08/2010 17:00

Thanks Rufus, might get that.

Dolcee, lol at leoprad!

I like this Boden denim skirt ... do I have 20% discount goggles?

traceybath · 12/08/2010 17:04

Carciofi - snap - had just added that to my basket Grin

carciofi · 12/08/2010 17:26

If you like it too then I am confident it is not sales goggles. :)

vinovino · 12/08/2010 19:15

Hello!!

Right OK I wrote an enormous post a good few days ago and pressed 'post' and it vanished into the MN ether so I gave up and have been avoidng the internet (I know, shocking)

I just wanted to say thank you for all your kindness and thoughts and also advice. I just am wading through not really knowing what to do. monkeysmama what you said about the rest being admin has really helped me actually. I'm calmer about it all because I know I do not intend to stay with P so I am just doing bits of admin here and there !! and feeling a bit more in control, it's just such a big life change that to know it's okay to make the decision and then gradually sort it out practically is great. I am a bit stressed about some forthcoming exams which collide with me going back to work so I am 'disregarding' him and being all calm and civil for the moment until I have sat the exams, then he ought to be a bit worried Grin

I couldn't not post today having received NAP magazine in the post and accidentally gone on a zara splurge (trousers, their sizing is mad too!)

I hope everyone is okay. I have just cut out dairy and have replaced with kara coconut milk having read all sorts of things about dairy and I already feel much brighter and more awake, but I keep accidentally scoffing cheese Hmm

Am somewhat uninspired by AW collections, but in a good uninspired way because most of the classic things are mainly what I wear anyway I do love a bit of lace though when I can get away with it.

vinovino · 12/08/2010 19:25

bunny I had zoom whitening done and I have read it can really hurt but for me there was no pain, it cost more than that though so that sounds like a good deal. It only took them 2 shades lighter but they were quite white to start with, but they've lost a shade or 2 of the increased whiteness so for me it was a waste of time really, but lots of people are very happy with the results of laser whitening for quite a while.
What I have got great results with is crest white strips, but they caused bad tooth sensitivity (I used the premium ones). If you can get hold of the regular original ones they are very effective.
Also using either baking soda or hydrogen peroxide mouthwash at home can work, as can avoiding staining agents such as coffee and red wine (MY FAVOURITE THINGS!)
Does sound like a good promotion though..
