As for what happened at the end? WTF was he doing? How is he allowed to referee professional matches?

DuncinToffee · 05/04/2025 22:34

I know you are not blamimg Everton, we have been on the wromg side of decisions more than enough times.

As for that final whistle incident, fuck knows what he was doing.

It's just all these decisions that never happen against other teams.

It's been pointed out that "one-off" refereeing decisions have cost us 11 points this season. And we're 12 points behind Liverpool.

England was the one who had the red card against MLS overturned. Why he was allowed to be on the pitch to give that decision against him today is, well, questionable to say the least. It's not like he could have had any kind of grievance or anything...

MaybeNotBob · 05/04/2025 22:45

And I agree that Everton have been seriously badly dealt with with the FFP findings whilst Shity and Chelsea have been allowed to get away with murder. But that is a different thing.

MaybeNotBob · 05/04/2025 22:45

(I've actually got a soft spot for Everton)

DuncinToffee · 05/04/2025 22:56

I wasn't talking about the points deductions, just the refereeing decisions Smile

It has been a frustrating season for Arsenal, I have mostly seen highlights but something seems to be missing, ruthlessness maybe?

We've not always been brilliant, and the injuries have been awful.

But it's the refereeing decisions that have been totally unfair, and haven't happened to any other team (ever) that has been so incredibly upsetting. We may not have won anything, Liverpool have been very good, but somehow all the decisions have have never happened before nor will ever happen again have all gone in their favour. It just feels a bit like FIA giving it to Verstappen in such a twisted fashion...

Tarkan · 06/04/2025 00:04

You may have to zoom in a little but if you look for the dog at the front row of the stand then that’s my friend’s assistance dog and I’m the one in the white top like a fucking beacon. It’s our away top but the team wore the home maroon kit today. 🙈

Oh now, come on! This kind of hyperbole is why fans of other clubs don't have sympathy for Arsenal. Do you think Arsenal are the only club in the whole Premier League to have suffered from bad refereeing this season, or to have lost points as a result of poor officiating? Or the only club who have had to deal with injuries? Or, if your manager is to be believed, the only team who have had to play with a different ball (funny how your opponents in that match managed just fine)! Arsenal have had some bad luck with decisions and injuries - but so have every other club. Even if you think Arsenal have been particularly hard done by, to compare this Premier League season to the farce of the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix would be insulting if it wasn't so utterly laughable.

And that's what I expect. It hasn't happened to you so therefore it's all fine.

I hope you don't have to go through this, but it's not normal, it's not "just what happens". But because it's not you, it's all fine...

MaybeNotBob · 06/04/2025 02:01

Fucking hell - even Danny Murphy thought it wasn't a penalty...

DuncinToffee · 06/04/2025 09:55

Ah well, if Murphy, Dixon and Keown all say it wasn't a penalty and Arteta has watched the incident at leat 15 times, it is time to let it go.

You have Champions League football to look forward to.

Hellohah · 06/04/2025 10:15

@MaybeNotBob bad refereeing decisions have happened to other teams, and your post just highlights the general delusion at Arsenal.

Every week, fans of other clubs are on social media complaining about the quality of refereeing. There are mistakes consistently, for everyone.

I haven't seen the penalty, but I do remember Arteta after the FA Cup 3rd round at Emirates, and him blaming the referee then. We went down to 10 men and your captain missed a penalty, that's why you didn't win.

I think we got loads of decisions when we played Everton at Goodison this year (sorry @DuncinToffee) and just this week, everyone was going mad that Tarkowski didn't see red.

It's really not a conspiracy, you just ain't good enough. Even without these errors, I doubt you'd be 1 point off top of the league. And if you were, you'd bottle it again :(

And I'd rather anyone than Liverpool lifting that Premier League trophy!

DuncinToffee · 06/04/2025 11:08

I have gone right off Arteta and his blame game.

I do think there is a badge check with VAR but that is not why Liverpool will win the league. Despite not playing particulary well, they picked up points when teams around them dropped points, they took advantage of the inconsistency of other teams, and they have Salah.

At least the Sky 6 narrative is being contested this year.

Watching Spurs at Southampton now.

DuncinToffee · 06/04/2025 16:18

Southampton are relegated, so sorry for Saints fans.

Nice one Marco Silva Smile

Thank you. I want to say I'm heartbroken but it was expected, I just wish it wasn't Spurs that signed it.

Just feels too big of a divide now. I would almost rather just to be able to win the Championship and then stay there for the next season.

So sorry Nobby. Relegation is brutal and it hurts Sad

Relegation is shit and yes the gap seems insurmountable at the minute. Are Forest the last side to come up and stay up/do well? And they had to break the rules to do it.

burblish · 06/04/2025 19:21

@AndNobbyDancing I've been really sorry to see the way Southampton's season has panned out; I was so pleased when you came back up to the Prem. Major kudos to all you Saints fans who still showed up for your club every match, no matter how demoralising the whole situation was for you.

LlynTegid · 06/04/2025 19:56

Still possible that a team from North London could win a trophy this season- Barnet still well clear at the top of the National League.

I'm from Barnet so I'm pleased hear that!

JasonTindallsTan · 07/04/2025 23:06

Really poor from Leicester tonight. But what an audacious bid for goal from Fabian Schar 🤣 I love that moment in every game where he decides to go on a mad one. UCL hunt remains well and truly on.

MaybeNotBob · 08/04/2025 20:57

Exciting game so far. Vini Jr being given a free kick for a dive, but refereeing not too bad as yet...

kiterunning · 08/04/2025 21:20

Omg what a goal Declan Rice.
