It was a truly awful penalty. Probably the worst Marcus will ever take, and at the biggest moment of his career to date. He must be, in football parlance, gutted.

But that doesn’t change the fact that he is a truly remarkable and admirable young man, and a role model for a generation. He will come back from this a better player, and wouldn’t it be great if he scored the winner in next year’s World Cup final? Maybe not a penalty, though...
