Not necessarily the most spectacular but the most satisfying. Mine was when I was a teenager. I had a tingle in the philtrum above my lip that I could tell a zit was brewing in there. Outwardly there was no sign of it - the skin looked perfectly normal. It was the kind of vague unformed early zit pain that, nine times out of ten, if you squeezed it at that point all it would do would inflame the skin and make the eventual spot worse. Anyway on this occasion, despite knowing that, I squeezed the area anyway and instantly this perfect streak of pus leapt out of my skin and splattered across the bathroom mirror. And that was it done. No sign it had ever been there. No irritated skin. No residual soreness. Just a very polite zit that burst cleanly at the first prompting.

I've got 2

  1. As a 14 year old I blew my nose and a solid, smooth round bogey the size and shape of a slightly flattened marble came out, pale green, slightly squidgy. I couldn't understand how it had fit through my nostril
  1. Also as a teenager. I had a wart on my middle finger, on the outside of the joint of the finger nearest my hand. It was like a small cauliflower about the size of a pea. I had played in a game of rugby and was walking to the changing rooms after the match when I looked down and saw that it had gone. There was a crater where it had been, and blood was pouring down that finger, but no pain at all and I hadn't noticed it being knocked off

About three weeks after my laparoscopy in August everything seemed to be healing nicely (the horizontal line on a T-shaped incision disappeared in a week!) I realised my belly button (which was full of shiny, rock solid black blood, and the medical glue they’d used rather than stitches, like a plug) was just open and I could see about an inch into it. Sadly the photo I needed to send them didn’t do it justice. I had to buy steristrips and tape it up myself. I feel you are the only people who will understand. Have also included my impressive bruising which I weirdly missed when it faded. In real life it was a delight watching it morph every day.

Once it sealed up I broke and picked all the blood out not realising the incision went right into my belly button. Now there is a little seam in it I am soaking in bio oil.

I had breast surgery last year. The scar healed pretty much except there was one annoying little lumpy bit at one end that wouldn't quite settle. After a couple of months I noticed an annoying little bit of hard/dry skin on it so I went to pick it off with a pair of tweezers and felt a weird tugging sensation and an entire suture came out. It was a bit of thread about an inch long. Somehow the skin had healed over it without it dissolving like it was supposed to. Immensely satisfying.

Throughout my childhood I suffered from dryshidrotic eczema on the soles of my feet and the palms of my hands. The blisters on my feet would often sort of merge together and, instead of being filled with the usual clear fluid, would harden and fill with a thick, yellow pus-like fluid. I spent many happy hours popping them with a needle. And then, my skin would dry out and crack. Fluff from my socks would get stuck inside the cracks. More happy hours spent pulling the fluff out.

These are the bits I remember fondly with rose tinted hindsight. In actuality, it was frickin' awful and the cracks were deep and incredibly painful!

Ohh I’ve remembered a couple!

once had a pair of boots that gave me a bloody corn. It was excruciating. 20 year old me go drunk on red wine and levered the whole thing out with tweezers. It came out with a very satisfying pop - it was a perfect cone! Never hurt again and healed beautifully.

then I had my gall bladder out laparoscopically. The belly button incision started to look incredibly bruised and sore for a good 5 inches of my belly. Went to the OOH who refused to change the dressing (on day 5!) and sent me home. When I got back I was feeling awful, very flu like and shaky. I made my mum poultice me with animalintex (it’s a poultice dressing you use on horses 😂) and vetwrap. They left me while they did the horses and I was watching a film on the sofa when I felt something warm and wet trickle down…. Grabbed a container from the kitchen (clean takeaway container) which filled to the brim with thick, brown, vile smelling pus.
felt so much better after that. Went to the GP who was horrified at the OOH and gave me antibiotics.

Oh my days!! That sounds horrific, but I love your James Herriot approach to it!

A bit of purple spray would have done the job 😄

😂 thank you @spiderlight they did annoy me! Every bugger could see there was pus in there and I wasn’t having that… I was very impressed by how much came out!
