Not necessarily the most spectacular but the most satisfying. Mine was when I was a teenager. I had a tingle in the philtrum above my lip that I could tell a zit was brewing in there. Outwardly there was no sign of it - the skin looked perfectly normal. It was the kind of vague unformed early zit pain that, nine times out of ten, if you squeezed it at that point all it would do would inflame the skin and make the eventual spot worse. Anyway on this occasion, despite knowing that, I squeezed the area anyway and instantly this perfect streak of pus leapt out of my skin and splattered across the bathroom mirror. And that was it done. No sign it had ever been there. No irritated skin. No residual soreness. Just a very polite zit that burst cleanly at the first prompting.

When I was a teen I had a bump inside my ear, on the concha. It was there for months and it used to really bother me as I kept squeezing it but it never made a difference. One day, I was looking in the mirror, gave it another squeeze and all this pus squirted out onto the mirror. There used to be a T4 advert which involved a teen squeezing a spot with the pus landing in the T4 logo. That’s exactly how it landed on the mirror for me. The satisfaction has stayed with me!

When we first got together, DP had a hard white lump on the upper arm, about the size of a pea, which had been there for at least 10 years. After a few months of dating I was allowed to work on it. Several sessions of "worrying" it later, I could feel it was about to pop. I gave it an extra hard squeeze and it started to go. But there was no massive pop, no splat across the room, just a white thread that went on and on and on, while the spot slowly subsided. It curled up as it went, but I guess it would have been a yard long if allowed to completely unravel. Nearly 40 years later, the spot has never came back.

Bartholins cyst. So painful.. spent hours in hot baths and putting hot compresses on it. After a few days gave it a good poke and it exploded. Never seen so much pus and gunk in my life. It was gross and smelt disgusting but oh my god the instant sweet relief was amazing!

MultiplaLight · 10/07/2024 22:41

Once my H had an eyebrow spot that erupted so perfectly in a small prod.

Then it's twin spot sibling was hiding in the shadow of the main spot, and with another light squeeze a white thread came out.

2 for the price of one.

I had a small hair growing out of my neck. One day I decided to just yank it out, but it kept on coming…it was probably the length of my hand. Urgh.

An ex boyfriend once let me loose on his blackhead minefield of an upper back. The best of the harvest was from a huge blackhead. The exudate was like a miniature pool noodle of compacted pus. I still think about it regularly, even though it happened a good 15 years ago.

My verruca that slurped out with a wonderful squelchy pop - root and all - whole thing out in one and just an empty crater on my foot. Never forget.

Deanefan · 10/07/2024 22:58

A throbbing earlobe around a long established piercing for me. Stood in front of the hall mirror, took the earring out nothing. Then touched the back of the lobe audible POP and pus splattered across the mirror. Blissful

I used to have a tiny hole under my armpit years ago, I can't find it anymore but when I squeezed it white deodorant used to squirt out for time in a thin stringy thread like a worm 😃

clary · 10/07/2024 23:10

I had a verruca once and was using corn plasters (or similar) to try to get rid of it. I was walking and my foot felt really painful, as if I was walking on a stone. I sat down in a friend's flat and took off my shoe and then the plaster – OMG the whole verruca peeled out, like a tiny black tree coming out of my foot. It was the best. It left a huge hole but it must have just healed.

The whole scene is still extraordinarily vivid in my memory, even down to the shoes I was wearing. This happened about 40 years ago as well. So satisfying.

I had a lump in my groin for ages, I just thought it was a little cyst. Then it got a little bit sore and opened slightly. On closer inspection (mirror and phone camera) I noticed a little black head. So I tried to squeeze it and a little bit of hair popped out.

So I pulled it, and pulled it. It was the longest hair I have ever seen, I'm not joking when I say when it was uncoiled it was at least 50cm long.

It was so satisfying.

DD had a spot under her nose for about a week but wouldn't let me touch it. One day, on holiday in Wales, as I got her out of the car I noticed it was oozing so she said I could pop it.

I barely touched it and the thing just popped out whole, a hard white lump the size of a pea.

Most amazing was the massive hole it left behind. An hour later it had completely healed over.

It's my main memory from that holiday 10 years ago.

Tell me how did you do it? I have one I can’t get rid of.

AlpacalypseLlamaggedon · 10/07/2024 23:27

Ingrown hair. Tugged it with tweezers and not only did a 10cm hair unfurl but it came with a perfect ball of solid pus at the end. Left a hole the size of a peppercorn on my chin.

Saramiah · 10/07/2024 23:31

I once tried to squash a whitehead but failed and it just made a scab. When the scab peeled off the whitehead was attached to the back like a perfect round pearl.

haveatye · 10/07/2024 23:36

Thought there was a flake of dried skin on my c section wound as it healed. Went to brush it off and pulled a stitch out. The sensation of thread slipping through flesh was like nothing I've ever felt. So gross and so intriguing.

Removing cradle cap with a fine tooth comb after rubbing baby oil on it. Watching the scales lift away is something else...😍

IlPorcupinoNilSodomyEst · 10/07/2024 23:58

I don't know if it quite counts but I watched my stomach being sewn up after c section due to the angle of the metal lighting surrounds over the operating table. It was very interesting! (I was a bit spaced out at the time obviously)

I desperately wanted to do that but had read about someone else doing it and it ruined the baby’s hair, made it really thin for the rest of her life. So I didn’t dare.

Recovering from a cold, coughing up rough weird green stuff that felt like coir matting. Dry and unyielding.

DS used to let me scoop wax out of his ears with my pinky finger, I used to tell him I was opening a candle factory.

afaloren · 11/07/2024 00:05

I remember being on holiday in Wales and looking in the mirror in my bedroom in the farmhouse we had rented. I had a blackhead on the inside of my nose. Squeezed it and a ribbon of stuff came out about 10 cm long. I put it on a piece of card to admire for the next few days Grin

Gingerisgoodforyou · 11/07/2024 00:07

I plucked a hair from my bikini line, that looked like it was ingrown. When I managed to tweeze it out, it went under the skin, above it for a cm, then under again. Pulling it was like undoing stitching!

HeartandSeoul · 11/07/2024 00:08

I’ve told this tale on this forum before, but I’ll happily repeat it 😁.

I used to suffer with boils quite frequently (not so much now, thankfully). I had one at the top of my thigh which I couldn’t leave alone, and I ended up needing antibiotics for it. It was about the size of a small conker, and the redness was the size of two hands put together.

I was warned I would probably need extra antibiotics after the 7 days, but I would need to see my GP for more (the OOH doctor I saw at my local hospital couldn’t give me more than 7days worth). Sure enough, it mostly cleared up, but not fully, and it started to worsen over the next couple of days.

I planned to contact the GP after the school run, but thought I would assess how big it was prior to making the call. I gave it the gentlest touch around the sides, and then thick puss started to snake out of it (I hadn’t noticed a head on the boil beforehand). It just kept coming, and it was truly glorious! The boil went down considerably, and the redness vastly improved by the time I had returned from school drop off, so I didn’t contact my GP in the end. I managed to get more and more gunk from the boil for a few days, and I loved it! It fully healed, and left no reminder of the amazing volcano that grew on my leg 😄.

Ex bf in my late teens was a painter and decorator, loved his back for blackheads, he had perfectly smooth olive skin. One day there was a perfect alignment of blackheads huge, so satisfying squeezing, then one that looked smaller, but wow it just kept on giving and giving.

I had a cochlear implant a number of years ago. For those who don’t know, the external processor is worn over the ear like a hearing aid. I hadn’t worn an aid for a few years, so the skin wasn’t quite used to it and it was also quite fragile after having been operated on, with the scar lying just underneath the processor. I was being very gentle with washing my hair etc. while the skin healed and was keeping the area very clean.

About six months after the operation I noticed there was a massive skin plaque just behind the ear - a combination of scarring, sweat and dead skin, compacted by general friction from the body of the processor in wear and it was starting to come away. I worried away at it very gently for about a week until a huge thick plaque lifted away in several pieces from around my hair roots, and I realised how irritated it had felt up to that point with it trapping the regrowing hair trying to break through (I had had a small area faced for the op.) It was like a scab on steroids!

The relief was massive. Like peeling a scab but 100 times better! DH took a photo which I treasure . . .

I’m not a medical professional, but I did Google it and I strongly suspect it was something called ‘terra firma forme dermatosis’. It really fits the bill in description, appearance, and cause, as it apparently tends to happen at surgical sites and is associated with normal hygiene.
