Daughter had flies eggs in her ingrowing toenail

That's it. She is 18 and has refused to have the toenails dealt with properly. They have been persistent for a couple of years on her big toes - both sides. Frequently they bled and we have been on and on at her, as they usually look foul.
Anyway, today she saw some little white grains on the toes and after taking a pic to blow the image up, we could see they were flies eggs!! I cannot get over the image in my mind.
I scraped them off and we soaked her feet in water with disinfectant. I can't help worrying that I didn't get them all out.
Obviously she is now going to go to the Dr about them.

Is this too grim a picture for Sporners corner?

Oh my good god I've never seen such a horror in 20 years being a podiatrist. She must get them done. It's free on the NHS. I've had both mine done and they don't hurt at all. And we need a pic.

Almost all my toe nails, all 10, both sides, are ingrowing. I don't bother medics but just dig them out myself with a very sharp knife or scissors every 2 or 3 weeks or so. Yes they hurt and bleed.

A friend was a carer, and visited an elderly person who had toenails literally a couple of inches long.

She treated his feet herself, with strong clippers and he was so grateful.
The poor old boy couldn't even put shoes on prior to having his talons cut.

None of his other ''Carers'' had done anything about it.

There's a good reason for that - carers aren't actually allowed to cut toenails! Your friend should have reported this back and had her managers arrange a podiatrist.

Absolutely disgusting. I don't even care about the photo, in fact I'd rather not see it - clearly your daughter is extremely mentally unwell to let her toes get so bad that flies lay eggs on them.

@JinglingHellsBells of course they do. My rabbit died from flies laying eggs in an open wound.

They're always laying eggs in my cats food too if I don't swoop in and throw it away within minutes of him finishing it
