Dd 10 has had a massive verruca under her big toe for over 3 years. GP said it would go of its own accord... it hasn't gone.
A few weeks ago she said it was hurting when she walked so I have decided to wage war on it.
So far we have tried soaking, filing and covering with a plaster, then soaking, filing and covering with duct tape for more than a fortnight but it made no difference.
Next weapon... Bazuka.
After 3 days, it look absolutely hideous....

🤣🤣 good luck 😂 I bribed my son with chocolates and distracted him with YouTube. One swift pull and it was out. I’d never seen one before and they are hideous! The crater was massive and the first ‘gush’ of blood was quite heavy (as you’re detaching all those horrible little blood vessels) but he felt immediate relief from the pain. I just used bazuka directly on it until the sides completely lifted. Lovely 😂

Day 7. It has been filed. I managed to pull one side a up a bit but dd said it hurts so I had to stop...I could see a black bit underneath!! I have applied another coating of the gel...

I have suffered from the sodding things for decades on and off. In my experience when you start treating them they do look and seem worse before they start to shrink. There’s a period when they don’t seem to be getting better at all and then suddenly most of it will come away from the skin with a bit of persuasion. Sometimes I get craters or a small amount to treat to completely get rid of it. You have to persevere!

Bettina500 · 04/03/2021 14:12

It's going black which is a good sign. I never had any joy with Bazuka, if anything it made them spread.
I had great success with nail varnish on my DD's verruca. It dried it up and I just clipped away the dead skin and old varnish every night and reapplied. It went black, shrivelled up and was gone in about 3 weeks.

Video? Oh yes.

Great pictures. I have to say I believe now that they just reach a point where they die. I had some kind of cluster verruca under my left toe for years, I was on homeopathy for months which oddly achieved nothing, but also had it cut out and frozen out, after which they just came back. I left it for a while then painted on something from Boots and it finally rolled over - i think it was just old by then.

devuskums · 04/03/2021 15:22

How do I post a video!!??

DD had some monsters that wouldn't go and after trying home freezing, Bazooka, nail varnish and duct tape (the last two worked in DS) I was ready to outsource and pay but couldn't find anywhere taking on new patients at the moment. We tried apple cider vineger every night on cotton wool plastered/taped to her feet and when it did something the whole area went white and wrinkly the a few days later no more verruca. As soon as the "queen" one went the other two or 2 disappeared too and she verruca free!

dancemom · 04/03/2021 15:27

You can't post a video, you need to upload it to a sharing site and post the link

minipie · 04/03/2021 15:29

Just stopping here for the big reveal

petridishmystery · 04/03/2021 15:31

I never actually knew what a verruca was until I saw a couple of posts like this on MN! Fascinating but glad I’ve never had one.
You’re a lot nicer than my mum OP, now I’m an adult she obviously leaves me alone but as a kid if there were any spots or anything, I’d be pinned down!

ReasonablyUnreasonable · 04/03/2021 15:32

@devuskums OP, I am the gal for you!

DSD had one just like that, had it for 7/8 months before I was given permission to attack it!

I got a thin pin and literally scraped the whole lot out (or as much as I could in the first session). It looked a bit sore but it didn't bleed as it was all dead skin. I then stuck germoline (?) on it with a plaster, but told her to take of the plaster before bed and let it air. A few days later, we did session number 2 and I got the remaining black bits out, together with all the weird dead skin bits.

A week later it had scabbed over and there was no more black in it.

A few days later, the scab came off and you would never have known it was there.

DSD was very brave but it didn't particularly hurt her; she was just more concerned about the pin/needle thing. She was so relieved and thankful that I managed to get it gone x

MeelaNotMyla · 04/03/2021 15:42

Is it bad that I desperately want a veruca just so I can do this 😂🙈

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 04/03/2021 15:49

I had one on the underneath of my foot for years.
It was so painful to walk on and I got so fed up I filed and picked it every other day for about a week.

I soaked it one night and while soft and brave feeling I tweezered it and it came out black bits altogether Confused

Left a large slightly tender crater but it healed up quickly and never came bak

fairydustandpixies · 04/03/2021 15:50

Oooh I had them all over my feet, my hand and my knee. Tried all sorts to get rid. Must have had them six years. Woke up one morning after not treating them for a year or so and they'd all vanished! Every one of the buggers, completely gone!

I had that with a wart on my knee! It had been there years, never bothered doing anything about it as it wasn’t noticeable. Woke up one day and realised halfway through the day it was just gone! Never left a scar or anything. I’d nicked it with a razor which maybe had something to do with it but that had been a couple of months prior and the cut had healed.
Cookerhood · 04/03/2021 17:57

This is what I was trying to say upthread. When your immune system licks in they will just go, all of a sudden.

justanotherneighinparadise · 04/03/2021 18:08

Ooh I have fond memories of dealing with a verruca on my son’s foot. Finally peeling the last layer and the core coming out brings me such joy 😍

picklemewalnuts · 04/03/2021 18:14

Son had the same with warts on his hand. The GP told him they would go, and within days they did. Honestly the body is amazing.

Wish mine was! After a decade with the bastard thing and a year of it being so painful I was walking on the outer edge of my foot and couldn't walk more than half a mile without agony, I had to have a podiatrist zap it with microwaves for almost a whole other year before the fucker gave up. My body is clearly abso-fecking-lutely useless.
picklemewalnuts · 04/03/2021 19:07

Ah, but you needed someone authoritative to tell you the wart would go!

I wonder whether the old 'sell your wart' trick worked on that basis.

SirSamuelVimes · 04/03/2021 19:15

No I had several gps tell me that! I do not appear to be very suggestible.

Sallycinnamum · 04/03/2021 19:22

Removing my son's verruca was joyful. The black bit was like a worm so I grabbed it with the tweezers and it just popped out. Amazing experience for me, not so much for him.
