6 oz of pus out of my leg

Yep, that was July. A boil went wrong and despite antibs grew until it was drained (twice) by a delightedly horrified medic. Cellulitis etc.

IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN. Same place, inner thigh. Same yelping pain. Has big blood blister head. What can I do? Doc gave more antibs and not interested but it's growing and growing.

Can I burst it myself?

OP - her thee to A+E. Sepsis is serious and your AB's may not be touching it. As much as I love a bit of sporn, I'm quite concerned for you now. How's your body temp? Are you feeling feverish? Any abnormal her from that area?

HexBramble · 06/09/2016 21:20

get not her

CMOTDibbler · 06/09/2016 21:21

Derek def needs a trip to A&E to be packed - you can't go to work tomorrow with him draining down your leg if nothing else.

When I had to take DH and his boil to A&E (GP drained it and then it started bleeding, and bleeding and bleeding) the nurses were rubbing their hands with glee at it, so I'm sure they'll love to see Derek

GherkinsOnToast · 06/09/2016 21:22

YES Derek does need A&E - the AntiB's should have stopped his growth by now but they are not working and his infection is way beyond their capabilities.

Sepsis is very rapid onset and you don'e want to take that risk. I had a version of Derek on my side and ended up having IV antib's and having it cleaned out under anaesthetic and the surround flesh cut out and packed with weird spongy stuff, which was changed daily, and daily antib's until it grew back in. Please go!

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 06/09/2016 21:30

I really like your writing style OP, so please go to A&E. I'm hoping for updates and not a eulogy (apart form one for the Dastardly Derek).

HexBramble · 06/09/2016 21:32

Yes, pack a bag and start moving, woman.

But, did it make a cracking noise??

caring

pieceofpurplesky · 06/09/2016 21:44

Wondering how Derek is? Wink

Muchtoomuchtodo · 06/09/2016 21:48

At least phone out of hours for advice.

Could you really consider going to work in your current state?

LaContessaDiPlump · 06/09/2016 21:53

Maybe call an ambulance op? It does sound serious and you sound a little bit pus-happy, to put it delicately Confused
please seek help!

LanaorAna1 · 06/09/2016 22:13

Derek didn't crack when he popped. But he did something else - little delicate tickling nudges from deep inside my thigh, then a volley of sharp stabs, and blessed relief.

His head is still 1/4-in wide and black with blood blister. The stuff on the dressing looks more red than green now, which seems to be the highlight of my day.

I have checked and there is no redness coming away from him, although he is red and hard for about 1.5 in circle and he hurts for about 3 in around.

Am desperate to scratch. Gherkins I am dreaming of having him cut out.

Please OP please get yourself and Derek to A&E tonight.... Do it for us .... Shock

LanaorAna1 · 06/09/2016 22:23

He's not anywhere near as bad as the first one. Then I thought I had a bad cold :) but realised I couldn't stand and was getting very muddled. That turned out to be the infection setting in systemically.

Last time my bottom, always a most respectable size, doubled in volume overnight, and it was only when I thought vaguely Christ I've turned into Beyonce that I realised it was the infection blowing it up. I had four large buttocks for a whole day :)

None of that is happening now, luckily.

111 always useless. A&E not doable right now, I am hitting the sack. Still guzzling ABs.

Pythonesque · 06/09/2016 22:31

Hope things are decidedly better in the morning - but please seek help if they are not! A&E probably best I guess and definitely if you get worse.

One thing to remember about taking antibiotics - they can only get to where there is a good blood supply. The nature of an abscess is that it collects without a blood supply which is why, other than tiny ones, draining and possibly packing or topical treatment may be essential assistance to allow your body to heal them. Possibly with the higher doses of antibiotic that can be achieved IV to maximise how much gets into the general area.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/09/2016 22:32

I'm going to worry about you all night, now Sad

FrankiesKnuckle · 06/09/2016 22:59

You've got your pick of A+E depts living in Clapham! Georges/kings/Tommys or C+W - leaving it overnight could render you quite unwell by the morning.
Out of the 4 I'd go to Tommys, they've just opened a brand new urgent care centre, you'd likely end up there (well before sepsis sets in because that's a medical emergency....)

And yes, 111 would be pointless.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/09/2016 23:01

GP first thing, get an emergency appt,it needs seeing to.

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 06/09/2016 23:21

Try the walk in dr at Clapham junction to get checked out.

No wonder you fell asleep after the archers tonight-exhausting!

ChampagneCommunist · 06/09/2016 23:23

Not place marking. Not at all. No sireee.

JedRambosteen · 06/09/2016 23:25

Nope, me either.

OP - please don't let Derek make you proper poorly. Listen to the healthcare professionals on here saying it needs medical attention.

Groovee · 07/09/2016 06:59

Hope you are feeling better today.

PikachuSayBoo · 07/09/2016 07:10

Wow, hope it's less painful by this morning.

BigApple11 · 07/09/2016 07:21

How are you this morning?

DoloresVanCartier · 07/09/2016 08:21

How are you and Derek this morning?

ThatIsNachoCheese · 07/09/2016 08:34

Hope you're OK this morning op, I agree with the need for a picture and then a&e!

TheresAJaffaCakeInMyPocket · 07/09/2016 10:01
