6 oz of pus out of my leg

Yep, that was July. A boil went wrong and despite antibs grew until it was drained (twice) by a delightedly horrified medic. Cellulitis etc.

IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN. Same place, inner thigh. Same yelping pain. Has big blood blister head. What can I do? Doc gave more antibs and not interested but it's growing and growing.

Can I burst it myself?

Scenario One - Lana goes to A&E. They clean out the wound and possibly stitch it, and send her home with more appropriate ABs and painkillers.

Scenario Two - the Boots scene is re enacted at work, in front of the Regional Manager and Big Posh Client.

Ooh. Decisions decisions.

Strokethefurrywall · 06/09/2016 19:16

This thread is the most glorious thing I've read all day.

Sorry OP, hideous for you and all that... Grin Thanks

cheeseandmarmite15 · 06/09/2016 19:21

Some people have all the luck!

FurryLittleTwerp · 06/09/2016 19:25

Was there a noise as it exploded?

Mybeardeddragonjustdied2016 · 06/09/2016 19:27

Can we vote names for it?
Bartholemew the boil?
Buster the boil?

HermioneWeasley · 06/09/2016 19:29

OP I'm very concerned that you haven't posted any pictures

lifesuckssometimes · 06/09/2016 19:52

I've managed to squeeze all the crap out of mine today. Left with a pea sized hole. Not going doctor as I am a wuss. What can I do now to heal it quickly?

MissMoo22 · 06/09/2016 19:53

This kind of thing make me feel a bit queasy, yet here I am, hoping for pics of someone's pus.

DawnMumsnet · 06/09/2016 20:02

@LanaorAna1

Do please move it to the 'Niche Enthusiasms' Corner.

I am desperately trying not to go to A&E. I have a BIG DAY tomorrow at work. Not helped by being one-legged at the mo.

I am trying to get pix on the work phone to post. So far all I have done is get a few areas that comprehensively contravene our social media policy.

Cheers, OP, we're moving it over now (before you post any pics) .

You lot are sick! Grin

PopsicleBopsicle · 06/09/2016 20:06

Speaking as a community nurse who sees multiple drained abcesses daily, it sounds like it needs packing !!!!!

StrattersHasACunningPlan · 06/09/2016 20:10

Buster gets my vote.

Hollin, I remember your armpit, glory days indeed.

FurryLittleTwerp · 06/09/2016 20:16

Where is Sporner's Corner in the list of topics?

I can only find this as it's on "I'm On" so don't want to lose it

I've looked in Fun & Games and Sport so far Grin

Help please!

SauvignonBlanche · 06/09/2016 20:23

Poor you! Shock Flowers

Muchtoomuchtodo · 06/09/2016 20:36

Gosh, what a glorious thread!

OP, what's the decision?

Pestilence13610 · 06/09/2016 20:46

Sporners corner can be found under in the club
Lanaor get it sorted by a proper medic, you should have spoken to the pharmacist in Boots, it is the sort of thing they can give advice on.
You know cellulitis is not fun.

mcdog · 06/09/2016 20:46

Where is Sporners Corner hiding? I can't find it in any of the topics.

LanaorAna1 · 06/09/2016 20:51

I fell asleep after the Archers, sorry y'all. I can't face an inner London A&E tonight.

Derek the Drainer has been busy while I kipped - thank God I put a sheet on the sofa before I passed out. Big dark patches under me of leaking 300-year Stilton sauce 'with bits'.

The office phone, which is now crammed with crotch pix, has angrily turned itself off. In other news, I realise my pubes are grey. Grey with bits in at the mo.

The cat is st

LanaorAna1 · 06/09/2016 20:57

The cat has been 'helping' me limp to refresh The Bowl to by thwacking the backs of my knees with its tail encouragingly. Do I need to disinfect the fat furry fellow?

I am quite touched he has jumped up for a cuddle even tho the whiff is grim.

OP posts:
GherkinsOnToast · 06/09/2016 20:58

Seriously Lana, I think you need to bother with A&E, blood poisoning or risking debris getting in Derek the Drainer is far worse than waiting - I bet it won't be that long with you pouring pus on their floors!

If you decide not to go then give it a wash with cooled boiled water with a bit of salt in it then cover it with a sanitary towel (non scented) and plaster/bandage it in place, then see someone in the morning.

LanaorAna1 · 06/09/2016 21:04

Does Derek need A&E with ABS? I had borderline sepsis with the last one.

OP posts:
Northernlurker · 06/09/2016 21:07

You need help op. Why are you so tired? Infection could be one reason. Get to a&e now.

NerrSnerr · 06/09/2016 21:08

I'm sorry op but I think you need a&e too. I wouldn't be surprised if you need some if antibiotics. Don't risk sepsis.

MimsyBorogroves · 06/09/2016 21:12

Yep, sepsis, cellulitis, badness, a&e etc.

So, did it make a cracking noise when it exploded?

Pestilence13610 · 06/09/2016 21:15

If your antibiotics were working it would be Derek the dried up, not Derek the drainer.
If you can't cope with leaving the house, phone 111, get advice.
DF had cellulitis and spent 5 days in hospital on IV ABs Hmm

Ememem84 · 06/09/2016 21:18

Ewww so gross but so entertaining

Hope you're ok
