This thread is for the Mumsnetters who attended one of the exclusive MN screenings of Despicable Me 2 with their little minions DCs on Sunday 16th June. We hope you all had a fab time and enjoyed the film!

We really hope you and your DCs enjoyed the preview screening.
Below are a few questions for you to answer but please do add any other comments you may have.
We'd also love it if you could upload some pictures of your day to this thread.

  • Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
  • Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
  • What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
  • What did your DCs love best about the day?
  • What was your overall experience of the screening?
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?

Everyone who adds their feedback to this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a goodie bag packed full of Despicable Me 2 merchandise.

My DH took my 3 boys aged 7, 5 & 3

  • Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film
A great film for minions of all ages.
  • Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)
5/5 from DH and all 3 boys
  • What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
My 3 DS's favourite bit of the film was the ending when Gru & Lucy got married and Agnes finally got a mummy. They love all the minions and Gru. They love it when the minions say Banana!
  • What did your DCs love best about the day?
They loved all of the day, it was a great experience for them. It's a shame a normal trip to the cinema doesn't have all the extra bits.
  • What was your overall experience of the screening?
Boys enjoyed the foyer before the film with the characters, balloons, ipads and colouring in. They loved the film and can't wait to see it again.
  • If it came up in conversation, would you recommend Despicable Me 2 to friends and family? Why?
YES! All my boys, including DH loved the film and said it lived up to expectations. Sometimes you see all the best bits in the trailer and the film isn't that great but thumbs up all round.

Thanks for a lovely father son bonding day!

LackaDAISYcal · 16/06/2013 14:58

Just got home from Manchester. We all had a blast and my DC were remarkably well behaved (for once) though the sugar crash is happening as I type and they are all gru-some

I'll try and upload some more pics later, once I've got them from camera to pooter.

  • Please give a brief, one sentence review of the film

Gru saves the world from manic minions, the girls get a new mum and they all live happily ever after....until the next time!

  • Out of 5, how many stars would you give the film? How many would your DC give it? (5 is highest and 1 is lowest)

DS1 - 5*
DD - 5*
DS2 - 14 million * Grin
Me - 5*

  • What was your/your DC's favourite part of the film? Who is their favourite character and why?
DS1, favourite is Gru, because he is funny and smart. Favourite part when Dr Nefario turned up with the jelly gunship DD, favourite was Carl, because he has one eye. Favourite part was the horrible date getting shot with the tranquiliser dart. DS2, all the minions when they turned purple, because they were funny. Favourite part when the minions got turned into purple weirdo things and the wedding Me, Agnes; she just steals the film. Favourite part was freeing the minions from El Macho and the wedding scenes (I even shed a wee tear)
  • What did your DCs love best about the day?

DS1, watching the film
DD, the excitement of getting there
DS2, every bit of it

  • What was your overall experience of the screening?

Well organised, and good fun.

  • Fantastic family fun, Gru and minions are on form.
  • 5 stars from my self and DC's
  • Favourite part of the film, so may but I loved the minion boy band toward the end at the wedding, my DC's loved when he was all happy and in love with Lucy and then found out that Lucy was moving to arustrailia and he was unhappy and went along pushign over the tai chi exercises etc, she was in fits of laughter

-They loved everything, from fun in the foyer, there goodies when they got into the cinema and sat down, but most of all the movie, they came out with big smiles on their faces, and could not stop talking about it.

  • What was your overall experience of the screening? The screenign was fantastic, friendly staff who made it enjoyable, we loved meetign the minions at the beginning too
  • I have already recommend the fil, i was straight on facebook on my phone to say it was fab, and my fiends should definatley go, and take a child as an excuse to watch it lol

Me, my husband and 2 boys extremely enjoyed Despicable Me 2 this morning at The Printworks in Manchester! It was such a good morning and the kids were so excited to meet the minions! We would all give it 5 stars and would defo recommend to friends and family! Kids loved it! As did me and the husband! And excellent in 3d too! I have attached a picture of my minions meeting the minions! Thank you mumsnet!!

missusjen · 16/06/2013 16:04

Wow. How brilliant was that! Exceeded my expectations and was as good a sequel as I ever could have hoped. The boys had a great time and so did we! The 'fun in the foyer' was fantastic and we now have balloon minions and coloured in posters and two very tired boys!

missusjen · 16/06/2013 16:06

Thank you so much for letting us have the opportunity to go to this showing, it really has made for a fantastic Father's Day treat for Daddy too!
The older of my 2 little boys was also totally delighted to find that one of the minions has his name!

BelleDameSansMerci · 16/06/2013 16:14

Ds and dd had a great time. Ds reckons everyone has to see it and it's brilliant. His favourite part was the transformation of the minions. Dd likes the girls! i had a tear in my eye at the end. The foyer activities were great too, thanks so much.

LackaDAISYcal · 16/06/2013 16:35

Oh, yes, the 3-Dness of it was amazing....when the end credits were happening, it actually looked like that buttefly was right in front of me.

Same with the jelly coming out of the screen at you...brilliant Grin

The DC are quietly colouring in all the pictures they brought home with them, and DD will not be separated from her toy unicorn, bless.

Really enjoyed it here, adults rating 4/5 DCs 5/5. DD favourite bit was the bubbles at the end DD2 liked the purple minions.
It was a really enjoyable experience, staff were great, really enthusiastic and the balloon minions have survived the journey home. DH was entertained by the bouncers on the door at the cinema and the security checks through the film to check nobody was filming it. I don't usually enjoy the cinema when it's so busy but everyone was so great, it was fabulous.
Film itself was fun, full of humour and action packed, great characters and made us all laugh throughout.
We have already been singing the films praises and it's the sort of film I could watch again and still laugh.

Brilliant trip, thanks for the experience and the memories.
