Whether it’s a Christmas classic or a recently released blockbuster, we want to know what films you’ll be watching at home with the family this winter.

  • Post your film choices in the thread below to be entered into a prize draw
  • One lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice

Here’s what FindAnyFilm has to say:

“With so much out there to choose from these days, it can be tough to decide what to cuddle-up and download on a cold December night when the kids are finally in bed, or what DVD to add to the big-shop for your next family film night. The latest research shows that personal recommendations are the reason 83% of people give for picking their next film or TV show to buy or rent, which is why Mumsnet is the perfect place to help you choose what to watch from now until Christmas!”

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Nativity films and Indiana Jones and the last crusade. Smile

JustSinginInTheRain · 03/12/2021 23:29

The new Spielberg, West Side Story has had brilliant reviews. I'm so looking forward to it.

StewPots · 04/12/2021 01:18

I can’t wait to see the new Ghostbusters film 😁

But I also love a bit of Trading Places, Elf ( obviously ) and also Muppet Christmas Carol which has to go on Christmas Eve. Kids don’t even watch it - it’s just for me because I remember it coming out when I was little and after seeing it for that first time I actually read the book by Dickens 😁

Notsandwiches · 04/12/2021 07:22

We want to watch Kingsman having recently watched the first two. Very excited to watch it on the big screen.

Fabvegetablegrower · 04/12/2021 09:30

The new Westside Story film. 😊

MakeTeaNotWar · 04/12/2021 09:57

Can't beat 'Nativity' and Love Actually.

Igmum · 04/12/2021 11:34

It's a Wonderful Life (keep hoping DD will love it too)

SmellyOldOwls · 04/12/2021 12:54

The Santa Clause, well my kids are 4 and a baby so they won't really be interested it's for me really Grin

Maggiesgirl · 04/12/2021 13:16

Not out till January, but can't wait for Kenneth Branagh's Belfast. Has some really good reviews and has Oscar Buzz around it.

Stars Dame Judi Dench, Ciran Hinds, Caitriona Balfe and Jamire Dornan. The little boy Jude Hill is said to be exceptional.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/12/2021 15:06

Little Women, a classic, and there are so many different versions to enjoy! It's not really a festive film but Christmas plays a significant part!

notthemum · 04/12/2021 17:21

I was waiting to make sure others had put more than one as I can't choose. I love A Christmas Carol, don't really mind which version although I confess that I am particularly fond of the one with Ross Kemp in.
Also love Christmas on 34th street and a very old one that apparently most people don't rate but it is called The Christmas Tree. I last saw this one at least 40 odd years ago.

notthemum · 04/12/2021 17:23

Sorry, just realised that my second choice is not Christmas but
Miracle on 34th street.

JustLikea · 04/12/2021 18:20

Already watched Home Alone and Home Alone 2. Will watch Die Hard and Love Actually

Newmama29 · 04/12/2021 19:34

Jack Frost. It’s my ultimate favourite Christmas film & such a classic! I cry every time but I just love it ❤️☃️

Perpop · 05/12/2021 07:56

Our newborn will be introduced to Elf, the Grinch and Home Alone!

TuesdayIsTheNewMonday · 05/12/2021 08:08

MadeForThis · 05/12/2021 08:58

The Grinch
Home Alone

StarDanced · 05/12/2021 15:11

I can't wait to watch Arthur Christmas as a family. This year my son will be old enough to sit through and enjoy it. I think he will be really excited and it should help maintain that Christmas magic. We are saving it for closer to Christmas when school has broken up.
We will also be watching The Muppets Family Cristmas. It was a favourite in both mine and my husbands families growing up and our eldest loves it. We have a baby as well and I think he will really like the songs.

scrivette · 05/12/2021 17:33

Miracle on 34th Street, I watch it whilst wrapping gifts and writing cards

Sonata13 · 05/12/2021 17:54

Home alone and A Christmas Carol and anything with The Muppets!

OhThatChicken · 05/12/2021 20:39

Muppet Christmas Carol and Shazam here.

WalkiesAndBiscuits · 05/12/2021 21:12

Elf!!!

Florence08 · 05/12/2021 21:40

We are looking forward to watching Robin Robin, the new Aardman musical on Netflix, all together. My girls loved the Wallace and Gromit films growing up and, despite now being in their teens, they are excited about a new animation and are ‘saving’ it for Boxing Day!

DatingDisastrously · 05/12/2021 22:49

We've previously watched the Julia Donaldson stories and The Snowman. I don't think the children are old enough for a lot of the films listed above - I feel like we are in a gap between the baby stuff and the slightly older stuff.
