Whether it’s a Christmas classic or a recently released blockbuster, we want to know what films you’ll be watching at home with the family this winter.

  • Post your film choices in the thread below to be entered into a prize draw
  • One lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice

Here’s what FindAnyFilm has to say:

“With so much out there to choose from these days, it can be tough to decide what to cuddle-up and download on a cold December night when the kids are finally in bed, or what DVD to add to the big-shop for your next family film night. The latest research shows that personal recommendations are the reason 83% of people give for picking their next film or TV show to buy or rent, which is why Mumsnet is the perfect place to help you choose what to watch from now until Christmas!”

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

It has to be The Snowman.
Love Raymond Briggs for this marvellous creation.
It's pure Christmas.

OnPaper · 22/11/2021 19:40

Love Hard is on my to watch this Christmas list

MoverCat · 22/11/2021 19:54

We have a Boxing Day tradition of watching a trilogy, LoTR last year!

MoverCat · 22/11/2021 19:55

Oh, and In Bruges! That's kind of a Christmas film right?

TellMeItsNotTrue · 22/11/2021 20:14

Scrooged for the first time with my older DC

Muppets Christmas Carol as a family as its a family favourite

TheGriffle · 22/11/2021 20:17

Dd2 loved the grinch last year and she has already requested to watch it again sk I think it will become a firm favourite.

sharond101 · 22/11/2021 20:22

Elf, and The Good LIfe oh and the Holiday!

Noeuf · 22/11/2021 20:28

Elf. It’s always Elf. The oldest is 23 and we still have to watch Elf as a family on Christmas Eve 😂

Anotheronestatisticssuck · 22/11/2021 20:44

The snowman
The Grinch
Muppets Christmas Carol :)

Pillowaddict · 22/11/2021 21:14

Cant wait to watch A Boy Called Christmas when it's released, and also revisit old favourites like Klaus, Nightmare before Christmas and White Christmas. The latter I watched with my grandparents so holds special memories!

MumC2141 · 22/11/2021 21:50

Maybe Harry Potter as the kids are just getting into it.

Hopezibah · 22/11/2021 22:01

I LOVE Polar Express, Arthur Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street. Also love watching The Snowman year on year as well as the brilliant mini-films that have been made of the Julia Donaldson books like the Gruffalo. So many great things to watch - can't wait for them all!

mrshoho · 22/11/2021 22:04

Home alone! It has to be done. When we first watched it all together my kids were 5 and 6 and Kevin was older than them. I remember when one year my Son said "Mum I'm older and bigger than Kevin this year!" and I don't know if it was the Christmas drinks but it got me sobbing! Now they're 15 and 16 and how I loved those Christmases when they were small and innocent.

CasparsWineBar · 22/11/2021 22:06

One of our Xmas traditions is to watch Home Alone together as a family - we've done it every year for the last 12 years and it's the only film all 5 of us ever sit through together! An absolute classic!

bibindum · 22/11/2021 22:40

Has to be The Grinch

Also@OlgaDaPolga89 Grin

Theimpossiblegirl · 22/11/2021 22:41

We're really looking forward to the remake of West Side Story. We love musical theatre and the trailers look fab!

cataline · 22/11/2021 23:24

We love Home Alone! It makes us all laugh every time!

It’s almost time for Elf! And I am very excited to watch it again.

GreenLunchBox · 23/11/2021 01:39

The new movie with Will Smith about the Williams sisters

Snowoctopus · 23/11/2021 06:05

Love Actually

seriousandloyal · 23/11/2021 06:12

Home Alone and Nativity

exLtEveDallas · 23/11/2021 06:36

DD and I are going to have a rewatch of our fave Marvel films over Xmas but she’s also agree to watch all the Die Hard’s as an alternative Xmas theme!

We can’t watch Elf, Home Alone or the Muppets as it’s a reminder that she was in hosp last year and they were the only ones they had. It was a horrible time so this year we are breaking out!

LiveintheNow · 23/11/2021 06:38

Gremlins for us!

notnowdennis · 23/11/2021 06:59

Elf and Arthur christmas - with hot chocolates and blankets.
