This sponsored discussion is now closed. Thanks to everyone who shared their memories on the thread below.

The way we capture memories has changed a lot over the years and the prevalence of smartphones in our modern world now means that almost everyone has a camera at their fingertips. Whether it was an unexpectedly special moment or a day you knew you would always remember for the right or wrong reasons, Fujifilm would like to hear about your treasured memories as a child, adult, or parent and how you have captured those moments to be able to remember them.

Here’s what Fujifilm has to say: “We all have those special memories that we like to think back on from time to time, whether that be from your own childhood, in your adult life, or as part of parenthood. There are so many key moments throughout life, and there's so many different ways to capture them - whether that be a keepsake, or on video, on a digital, disposable or instant camera, or just snapshots on your smartphone. At Fujifilm, we want to empower you to bring your stories to life, to tell it your way, and add new chapters as it evolves.

Everybody has a unique story to tell about their most treasured memories, and we would love to hear how you've captured yours. We’re also offering Mumsnet users 20% off all photobooks, photo gifts and wall art! Just use the code FUJIMUMS20 at www.myfujifilm.co.uk.”

What is your most treasured memory? Were you able to capture that moment on film or in a photo? How do you display your photos within your home? Perhaps you have a dedicated photo wall for everyone to see or a dusty stack of family albums to look through when you’re feeling nostalgic? Is the camera roll on your phone full to the brim with photos that you haven’t yet had the opportunity to print, but would love to be able to show off?

All who post on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

You are very welcome!
When I look at your photo it makes me happy to see all of those beautiful smiles. And I love the contrast with Baby Girl's pensive lookGrin

I've always been a keen photographer, if not a good organiser! During the first lockdown, I finally knuckled down and got a grip...I spent three weeks sorting through more than 40 years of photos...including creating 8 photobooks. If I say so myself, they look fantastic. The online instructions were so easy to follow. And, along with the useful hints and tips, the results are amazingly professional. My mother has been self isolating for most of the past year. She has spent hours looking through them and re-living happier times.

I have several albums I keep of important or memorable events on the coffee table. My favourite one has captures of all of my DS's firsts - so the day he took his first steps, or his first Christmas.

A gorgeous photo book that my other half gave me for my birthday last year that documents all my children. The pictures are so beautiful and I will treasure it always

I love to take photos and print off when I get time, typically with a white boarder, write a caption on the back and painstakingly put into huge leather(ette) photo albums using the sticky corners - a tradition I carry on from my grandparents who where fabulous at capturing life through the 30s to the 00s. As a child I used to sit in their living room looking through the albums repeatedly and never got bored of this. My grandparents also used old cine cameras and have boxes of reels that capture footage of my great grand parents etc at weddings in the 50s and we are currently getting these reels digitised and enhanced so that we don’t lose this amazing footage, and can actually watch it without erecting an ancient projector.

I loved Rose from Titanics picture collection of all the adventures and when I find my forever home, I will display all my favourite events in those beautiful silver antique type frames - I think this is a very elegant look.

A picture tradition I currently do is take photos of my children each month for their first year using very old school numbers to indicate age and when they turn one, I carry on the tradition on each birthday - hope to do this until they are 21 Smile

My daughter point blank refused to smile on the day! As soon as we stepped outside, she was grinning from ear to ear!

xx

What a great treasured memory of your feisty DD...she's going to go far in life and be a strong woman with a mind of her own...
Difficult for Mum and Papa right now, but believe me, she is going to make a name for herself!

OutspokenNotThatFunny · 23/04/2021 22:16

My nan holding all of my children when born. She passed away just after my youngests 1st birthday, her last great grandchild she'd met. Treasured memories. Pride of place in a multi frame.

Zee85 · 24/04/2021 12:28

My most treasured moment is when my baby girl was born. The smile on my Husband's face was priceless, and the look on my baby's face was worth every pain I've gone through.
The picture was taken with a mobile phone with help of the most caring Midwife "Cathy", God bless her.

We printed that picture and kept in a frame, displayed in the living room.

karenharrison · 24/04/2021 14:07

I'm not really a photo taker so a lot of my memories aren't captured. But the first photos of my sons are the greatest memories I have.

mayflower21 · 24/04/2021 21:04

One where I'm breastfeeding my newborn, a few days after being discharged. It was all so new to me. I needed a lot of support. My sister was there for that. And she snapped that photo. On her phone. There's so much love in the way I'm looking at my new baby.

My most treasured memory captured by photograph is of my grandad and me when I was 4.
He was 6 foot 2 and he bent over and rested his head on top of mine and we smiled looking at the camera whilst my uncle snapped it. Grandad died in 1996 and it is the only photograph I have of him, and it is still in the photo keyring he gave me on the bookshelf in my living room.

Whilst I have precious pictures of my DC, they are modern and digital and backed up here there and everywhere. Grandad's photo is irreplaceable.

There was a very moving BBC news article about the Boxing Day tsunami and how recovery teams had found photographs and tried to firstly save them from water damage, then try to reunite them to survivors who had lost everything. Memories like photographs are so important.

Sammyislost · 26/04/2021 14:32

I take photos of EVERYTHING. Every memory has a photo, but I can be a bit lazy printing them out sometimes. But when we finally went to Disneyworld Florida, all the memories that we captured in photographs were printed out in an album. I hope that my children will enjoy looking back at it and discussing their favourite things we did.

Trinidading3 · 26/04/2021 20:35

I absolutely adore Photos, since I was little I have always regularly gone through the family photo albums the retro ones with the corners that you stick in and then put the photo in!! Funny enough I was just last week looking at 1960's photos of my Mum and Dad when I was a baby. Mum in her mini skirt and dad with his quiff such a beautiful photo album. I have all my life treasured photos from school days until now, my Favourites are the retro ones showing 70's decor and style e.g flares and crazy home furnishings such as pretend wooden planks brown wallpaper and painted red kitchen!!! My brother on his Chopper and me on my chunky roller skates, the old TV with 2 switch's for BBC and ITV wow!! My Son asking me who that is? And me explaining it's me!!!! This is why I adore photos and always will!!Grin

Sleepybumble · 27/04/2021 12:29

My most treasured photos are all unposed, spur of the moment pictures from holidays/days together. I always make sure I print something if I really like it and frame it asap otherwise I will never get round to it. I love being surrounded by family pictures and momentos from happy days

nerysw · 27/04/2021 18:05

My Dad used to be a photographer so I've always taken lots of photos of the family. They're really important to me now that my children are growing up, especially the ones of them with family members who have passed away.

ivfbabymomma1 · 27/04/2021 19:30

My c section was photographed throughout by a nurse. Felt a bit weird at the time but now I'm so glad I have those photos!!!!

Sam1904 · 27/04/2021 20:10

I have several photo frames in my lounge, that I display of my kids and parents. Treasured memories over the years. Also have loads of albums.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 27/04/2021 20:56

Most of our photos are digital and stored online, but we very rarely get round to printing and displaying any of them. But DH has set up our home PCs to display random photos as screensavers, and it's lovely to see some forgotten picture of the kids when they were small, or a special holiday, or just something silly appear on the screen and be reminded of it! It's a nice way to see some of the old pics again without having to put in lots of time and effort.

HouseholdBubblesandEeeeek · 27/04/2021 21:00

Photos from my childhood are displayed in photo albums and later when I was a student I learned how to develop and print my own black and white photos, also displayed in photo albums, and some in picture frames. All these photos were taken on my father’s SLR camera. Now I use my mobile phone and take a lot more photos than I used to. I don’t print as many photos now but store them digitally. Every year I choose the best photos and make a photo calendar. I have photo calendars for the past 10 years or so!

Momormo · 27/04/2021 21:51

My Fuji camera's screen is broken, and so I can't take any photographs at the moment. 🤦‍♀️ 🤦🤦‍♀️

Toystory36 · 27/04/2021 21:57

I keep all the photos on my phone but every year I make a coffee table album of the year and if we have had a special holiday Or particularly special event I make a album of that. I also make calendars for grandparents and albums they always comment how much they love this. Especially in lockdown when they haven’t been able to see the grandchildren these pictures have been precious to the grandparents who hate technology

BINGODO1 · 27/04/2021 22:25

I have captured occasions, hoildays and days out, with family , using a traditional camera , producing photographs , which have then been placed in an album .. I have dated the pictures , with the venue /occasion and people named just below the photo.
It is lovely and nostalgic to then spend time recaptuing those memories of such happy times we shared .

HattiesPincushion · 27/04/2021 22:46

I like to create photo books every so often to capture my favourite memories, mostly of my children. It's lovely to look back through them.
