This sponsored discussion is now closed. Thanks to everyone who shared their memories on the thread below.

The way we capture memories has changed a lot over the years and the prevalence of smartphones in our modern world now means that almost everyone has a camera at their fingertips. Whether it was an unexpectedly special moment or a day you knew you would always remember for the right or wrong reasons, Fujifilm would like to hear about your treasured memories as a child, adult, or parent and how you have captured those moments to be able to remember them.

Here’s what Fujifilm has to say: “We all have those special memories that we like to think back on from time to time, whether that be from your own childhood, in your adult life, or as part of parenthood. There are so many key moments throughout life, and there's so many different ways to capture them - whether that be a keepsake, or on video, on a digital, disposable or instant camera, or just snapshots on your smartphone. At Fujifilm, we want to empower you to bring your stories to life, to tell it your way, and add new chapters as it evolves.

Everybody has a unique story to tell about their most treasured memories, and we would love to hear how you've captured yours. We’re also offering Mumsnet users 20% off all photobooks, photo gifts and wall art! Just use the code FUJIMUMS20 at www.myfujifilm.co.uk.”

What is your most treasured memory? Were you able to capture that moment on film or in a photo? How do you display your photos within your home? Perhaps you have a dedicated photo wall for everyone to see or a dusty stack of family albums to look through when you’re feeling nostalgic? Is the camera roll on your phone full to the brim with photos that you haven’t yet had the opportunity to print, but would love to be able to show off?

All who post on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

my most treasured memory is when I was taking my dream trip to Patagonia and first flew into the airport - the scenery was so amazing, like a desolate lunar landscape on one side and full of huge glaciers and icy rivers on the other - totally stunning! I took some photos from the plane window which sadly didn't really capture it but I was lucky enough to visit the biggest glacier in Argentina on Lake Viedma where I took loads of photos and videos too. Such a beautiful country and I have several memory cards to show for it!

We had a real splash out holiday two years ago after a rough few years with close family bereavements after long illnesses, redundancies and various issues. We wanted to remember it well so we got large canvasses made containing collages of our favourite pics from the holiday. One for the living room and one each for the children where they chose their own favourite pics. So glad we did. I often look at the collages and can lose myself remembering the details of the day of the pic. Just little things sometimes in the pic that triggers more happy memories.

My photos capture memories of my children growing up and the milestones they have marked. . . University Graduations and Passing Out Parades. Wonderful memories with many more to look forward to!

Photographs of the first time we held our daughter are definately the most treasured and professional photographs taken on our wedding day

sarah1271 · 21/04/2021 07:18

Mines having photographs of my parents, brother and sister at the time you don't realise how precious they are going to be until you are older

Caityboo · 21/04/2021 07:44

I have a photo of 4 generations when my daughter was born with my mum and nanna. My nanna died when my daughter was 2.

Porgster · 21/04/2021 08:11

You think you will never forget how your little ones used to talk and move but unfortunately you do (well I do!). Photos are excellent for stirring memories but videos are far more important than I thought they would be. I wish I had more video of my kids when they were babies/toddlers to help bring back the memories more vividly.

I returned to learning whilst in my 40s and employed. I completed and passed MBA in school business management.
My greatest photo is from my graduation 🎓 taken with a SLR camera. Such a proud day.

portkey · 21/04/2021 08:54

My most treasured memories are days out and holidays with our children. I have some framed pictures and a big box of photos that we get out occasionally to reminisce. These days I have too many photos on my phone and really should get more organised with them.

hayleywebb · 21/04/2021 08:56

The same a most people, I love having photos of family and friends. I like the screen saver on my computer to display my photos on a rotation.

clared112 · 21/04/2021 09:23

photo books are brilliant I do it all the time and some sites do them for free

claireabell84 · 21/04/2021 09:24

My best friend came up with a brill idea. She found a place that does your name initial as like an ornament and on one side is printed all my favourite photos and the other a pretty daisy pattern. It’s beautiful and I absolutely love it

miamonkeys · 21/04/2021 09:32

Family and friends births, from my own kids, to grandkids, to my siblings kids and grandkids. We have moved with the times, taking advantage of new tech - using everything from polaroids/photos to videocam to gopro - and, of course, our smart phones to capture these happy times x

I treasure the few years I had with my dad who passed away when I was 12 and am grateful for the few black and white photos that I have proudly displayed in an album and recently transferred to my digital photos

I only have one photo of my DM and all my girls together, which I have printed out and keep in my purse, and another copy in a frame on my bedside table.

They are sprawled out on a blue picnic blanket, my DM in her red swimming costume, the only one I ever saw her wear. They are all quite sandy, with glowing tans, and you can see the beach stretching out behind them- almost empty as it was very sunny but with chilly wind. They are playing a card game, possibly Newmarket, which my DM loved, but that I used to roll my eyes at, back when I was precious, chiding her about leading them astray with betting. You can see the streaks of sunlight adding aura to the photo, but the colours are still quite bold; reds, blues and gold. My DM has her mouth open, no doubt in her coarse, booming laugh, and my girls are all laughing or smiling too. I wish could remember the joke. The ends of their hair are all wet, from the sea, except for my eldest, who was fully soaked after being sprayed by her sisters and grandma. I can almost taste the sea salt in the air.

This is my favourite picture of all time, and we miss her so keenly. I wish I had taken more, but everything else is just memories. Would do anything to have her swim in the sea with us one last time.

Jeanetteleighton · 21/04/2021 10:01

My most treasured memories are of my childrens births and just pictures and videos of them growing up ,i keep pictures and videos on memory cards and my mobile phone. hannahbjm · 21/04/2021 10:03

I love my old photos of me as a child, they are in nothing fancy but an old photo book with sleeves. I love looking at it every year and brings me the happiest feelings looking through

ciderchickxxx · 21/04/2021 10:40

My most treasured memories are of my beautiful sister Sarah who died of cancer age 35. Having to live without her is the most difficult thing and memories are all I have

EscapeTheCastle · 21/04/2021 10:41

I have lovely memories of childhood Christmas days at my Grand parents house.

A few years ago some Cini films were passed down to me for safe keeping. Imagine my surprise when I held one up to the light and saw one of those Christmas days captured on the film. Lots and lots of mini frames of my family and I.

With transfer technology being so advanced we were not only able to convert the Cini film to a dvd and digital file but also we could create still photo images from any frame we wanted.

itsalltrue22 · 21/04/2021 11:38

After the full term stillbirth of my son the birth of my rainbow daughter highlighted how we felt we should appreciate every moment of her life. For the first 3 years of her life we photographed and printed one shot every day (we clearly took many more - approx 10000) and they are now in albums.
She is 12 and photos now are much rarer but still so very precious

chris8888 · 21/04/2021 12:08

I love all the old family photos that have been saved over time. My favourite way to take photos is with my cannon camera, getting out for the day and exploring. Phone cameras are great too though for all those magical moments.

sophiefx · 21/04/2021 12:35

My most treasured memory is capturing my little girls first steps on video!! I was so happy that I caught it and it was such a big moment in her life

ath007 · 21/04/2021 12:51

I never saw my parents with a camera but my uncle Richard was never without one. He took a photo of me and my best friend riding donkies on Benllech beach, Anglesey in the early 70's which i treasure to this day. Physical photos to have in the hand and pass around are the best, there is something more intimate and warm in the passing of photos than crowding around a phone or laptop.

HomeEdRocks18 · 21/04/2021 13:42

My Dad took lots of photos when I was little and my Mum stuck them into our baby books. My siblings have a book too.
Now that I have children I've done the same too. As a family we like looking back at the photographs together.

avery64 · 21/04/2021 13:54

I have albums of my childhood that my parents kept as well as a large box full that I am in the process of organising and filing as well as digitising some for a family history I am writing as a legacy for our grandchildren. When my own children were growing up and money was tight we found making slides the most cost effective way of recording memories printing just a few a year. I have now digitised all these. From the birth of our first grandchild in 2005 I took photos each month with a digital camera and put them in albums as each one came along and stored them on CDs. Then in 2015 disaster struck. I won an iphone with a large 64mb memory and now have over 4000 photos on it that I have not got round to doing anything with ......yet! They are backed up on the Cloud and on 2 hard drives but I would like to print some out.....one day!
