This sponsored discussion is now closed. Thanks to everyone who shared their memories on the thread below.

The way we capture memories has changed a lot over the years and the prevalence of smartphones in our modern world now means that almost everyone has a camera at their fingertips. Whether it was an unexpectedly special moment or a day you knew you would always remember for the right or wrong reasons, Fujifilm would like to hear about your treasured memories as a child, adult, or parent and how you have captured those moments to be able to remember them.

Here’s what Fujifilm has to say: “We all have those special memories that we like to think back on from time to time, whether that be from your own childhood, in your adult life, or as part of parenthood. There are so many key moments throughout life, and there's so many different ways to capture them - whether that be a keepsake, or on video, on a digital, disposable or instant camera, or just snapshots on your smartphone. At Fujifilm, we want to empower you to bring your stories to life, to tell it your way, and add new chapters as it evolves.

Everybody has a unique story to tell about their most treasured memories, and we would love to hear how you've captured yours. We’re also offering Mumsnet users 20% off all photobooks, photo gifts and wall art! Just use the code FUJIMUMS20 at www.myfujifilm.co.uk.”

What is your most treasured memory? Were you able to capture that moment on film or in a photo? How do you display your photos within your home? Perhaps you have a dedicated photo wall for everyone to see or a dusty stack of family albums to look through when you’re feeling nostalgic? Is the camera roll on your phone full to the brim with photos that you haven’t yet had the opportunity to print, but would love to be able to show off?

All who post on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

We have taken photos of our kids on the first of every month for years now and come December we make them into a calendar for family for the new year, each new month is like a little capture of family life and it's amazing comparing the different years.

Leaving aside the usual family photos, mostly from years ago my treasured memory would be of the family labrador running and playing in a field full of buttercups, when he was younger. It's a wonderful pic to have of him. We lost him 2 weeks past his 14th birthday and still miss him terribly.

my mum died more than 20 years ago but I still display a photo of the two of us at a wedding, treasured memories

AR2012 · 28/04/2021 06:50

Me and my brothers together while we were visiting family abroad and Birthday celebrations.

Redsquare2017 · 28/04/2021 07:26

My grandfather was a photo finisher whose job was to colour by hand black and white photos. I have some old negatives of his photos and have had some printed up and displayed alongside photos of my grandson. A great way to keep the connections over the years as well as today’s precious memories

JoJoY · 28/04/2021 08:06

During lockdown I went through all of my photos, old and new, had them printed in various sizes and made a huge photo wall in my kitchen. I love seeing them during the day as they all hold such lovely memories!

Ganne1 · 28/04/2021 08:10

Strangely enough, our treasured memories are very recent. There is a computer monitor in the corner of our dining-room, and the screensaver is set to show our recent (i.e., up to 2019) holidays. As all our holidays of late have had to be cancelled, it's wonderful to see and relive all the holidays that we have enjoyed in the last few years. It certainly helps us through Covid.

One of the most important things now is for me to backup my pictures given everything is digital. I lost 2 years worth of pictures when we laptop died so it's not a mistake I will make again.

My dad used a camcorder when we were little. I thought it was a dumb idea but now I like to rematch it, remember what my grandparents sounded like now they are not here.
I know video short clips of my parents with my daughters, without them knowing so my girls can remember the fun things nana and booboo did with them when they are no longer here.

My most treasured photos are of our four children taken at every stage of their young lives. Treasured memories xx

Davies42 · 28/04/2021 09:41

I have pictures of my boys on my wall from when they were 3 days old, they are now 4 and 8 years old and I look up at those picturesand I feel such love, awe and happiness that they are my children.

I'm never without a camera (my Mum was the same) and whilst I've always got my phone with me .. there's nothing quite the same or the quality as a proper camera. I've still got my Mum's, although it's nearing the end of it's life now. Every year, I use the favourite photo (taken in the last year) and make my children's birthday cards including that photo (or sometimes photos) - then I keep the cards - so we can see just how much they've changed and it's something to look back on for years to come (I hope)... I'd like to think I'll be doing this for some years to come. Thanks Mum for my creative streak!

Out trip to New York and the helicopter flight over the Manhattan skyline. Put them in a nice souvenir photo album that we bought in Macys .

chris2468 · 28/04/2021 10:39

my most treasured memory is a photo of my grandad, it is the only one in existence as he died when my mum was only 18 months old in 1931. He watches over me from my bedside table

EsmeeMerlin · 28/04/2021 11:40

I take a lot of photos of my children on my phone. I think it’s a lot easier to capture photos when most phones have good quality cameras included. I do make sure I print photos out because I worry about photos being lost and we have photo albums and some photos up on the wall. I have also created a photo book in the past which worked well.

Some years ago I was in Bavaria and visiting one of Mad King Ludwig's castles. A coach full of Japanese pulled up and they all leapt out and were snapping photo after photo of the amazing building. Within ten minutes they were back in the coach and off to the next castle. Meanwhile, I was just looking at the castle, soaking it up with my brain. I be those Japanese never look at their photos, or if they do they will be unsure where and when they were taken; whereas I still have that memory clearly in my head!

happysouls · 28/04/2021 13:24

I have a really lovely wooden treasure box and I keep things in there to remind me of happy times. It's got some really silly stuff in there but it all has meaning to me. I love it more than just photos.

scrapaddict · 28/04/2021 15:16

When my granddaughter was born 17 years ago I decided to record her life in a scrapbook. There are many lovely memories in there and probably the one we enjoyed most was a trip to Florida staying at Universal resort. Photos are great but so much better for being posted with a description of where they were and what was happening

jdore1964 · 28/04/2021 16:15

lost loved ones in the family album are very treasured memories

SheenaBatey · 28/04/2021 16:20

A family holiday to Canada in 2005 where I captured the family against the most spectacular scenery and doing out of this world things like flying over a glacier and kayaking through rapids and especially riding on the Rocky Mountaineer

sezz35 · 28/04/2021 16:34

I store all my photos on my pc and print out the very special ones which are displayed on my walls.

KarenCBC · 28/04/2021 16:48

Nothing beats a physical photo album. I love looking through all the old photo albums, from when I was a child, whenever I’m at my parents’ house. I just wish I could be as organised with photos of my adult life and my children! One day!!

clairewoods137 · 28/04/2021 18:46

I have photos stored on my PC and backed up of my son when he was younger. Also have some video camera footage. Photos of me when younger, my Mum has these stored in photo albums under her bed.

alabaster002 · 28/04/2021 19:55

Aside from personal things, a "book of memories" when I retired from work with people's thoughts, anecdotes, photos and extracts that I fondly browse from time to time. Beats a clock every time!

nolene · 28/04/2021 20:15

Oh my dad is big on memories! he has thousands of photographs of growing up in the 1940's right up to the present. I have recently started loading them on to sd cards for his digital photo frames, his favourites are of his beloved dogs, the garden in bloom which he tends to everyday and the outside of the house at christmas time when they go all out with the lights and silhouettes. There is 2 cherished Prints hanging beside his chair 1 of him and his 11 sibling's (sadly there's only him and 2 others still with us) and the other of him and mum on they're wedding day. He's old school and loves a print! all of my memories are kept in files on the pc or loaded on social media
