This sponsored discussion is now closed. Thanks to everyone who shared their memories on the thread below.

The way we capture memories has changed a lot over the years and the prevalence of smartphones in our modern world now means that almost everyone has a camera at their fingertips. Whether it was an unexpectedly special moment or a day you knew you would always remember for the right or wrong reasons, Fujifilm would like to hear about your treasured memories as a child, adult, or parent and how you have captured those moments to be able to remember them.

Here’s what Fujifilm has to say: “We all have those special memories that we like to think back on from time to time, whether that be from your own childhood, in your adult life, or as part of parenthood. There are so many key moments throughout life, and there's so many different ways to capture them - whether that be a keepsake, or on video, on a digital, disposable or instant camera, or just snapshots on your smartphone. At Fujifilm, we want to empower you to bring your stories to life, to tell it your way, and add new chapters as it evolves.

Everybody has a unique story to tell about their most treasured memories, and we would love to hear how you've captured yours. We’re also offering Mumsnet users 20% off all photobooks, photo gifts and wall art! Just use the code FUJIMUMS20 at www.myfujifilm.co.uk.”

What is your most treasured memory? Were you able to capture that moment on film or in a photo? How do you display your photos within your home? Perhaps you have a dedicated photo wall for everyone to see or a dusty stack of family albums to look through when you’re feeling nostalgic? Is the camera roll on your phone full to the brim with photos that you haven’t yet had the opportunity to print, but would love to be able to show off?

All who post on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

I have lots of pictures printed out of the children all over the house, actually probably too many it's beginning to look a little like a shrine!

ginger179 · 19/04/2021 22:45

Having only just started a family the past couple of years and just about to have baby #2, I've started making Photobooks and photo tiles of our new growing family as memories and decorating the family home with them Gives me such pleasure!

One of my most treasured photos is of my teenaged son on the day he was shipping out to defend our country's freedom. He left that day as a boy and came back 8 months later as a man.

We have lots of happy memories - mainly from Holidays when our children were younger and we travelled every year, we used a simple Canon Camera which at the time gave good results, we printed some off and made into albums, but the majority are on the computer.

karina13 · 20/04/2021 08:51

I still have the photos in black&white and they are the most treasure memories.Learn haw to make a good picture its a lifetime skill.

We like to capture special moments with our children on days out on our adventures. It is lovely to look back on the things that we have done together as a family and also seeing how the family has grown over the years. More often than not our moments are captured on our smartphones as you never know when you might get the perfect opportunity for a photo shoot and our adventures are often spontaneous. If we manage to plan something we use our FujiFilm bridge camera, it may be a few years old now but the picture quality is still amazing.

I am constantly having to delete apps on my phone to make space for more capturing photo memories - I make sure that the pics I take don't get lost and forgotten though by using photo printing apps such as the freeprints.com app to print my treasured memories of my toddler / family and create photobooks for free once a month!

SearchingTheSkies · 20/04/2021 11:10

I made a photo book of my wedding photos. It's so lovely to look back on such a wonderful day.

ragsie · 20/04/2021 11:23

Taking a family photo on the front doorstep every New Year's Day. Oh how they've grown!

mandes1 · 20/04/2021 11:43

We do try and take snaps of the children on a regular basis, they grow so quickly! It's challenging getting them to stay still for a minute to take a pic though! Also often afterwards is when you notice a huge stain on their clothes or food around their mouths! I guess that's childhood though right?

We did create a baby photo book for our first two boys. Other pics are displayed all around the house.

I am also planning on doing something creative with their baby scan pictures as this reminds me of the hope we had after suffering 4 miscarriages.

I must say though that I am not great at making sure I am any pictures. Last year just before lockdown we went to a studio to have a family portrait done. We will treasure these photos.

My most treasured memory was my first holiday abroad to Austria with my children. We took some amazing pictures with our camera. The kids were so young and look so cute! It was our best holiday we've ever had. I have lot's of multi aperture frames around the house but I'm ashamed to say they're all empty. I just never seem to have the time to sit down and sort through all the digital images I've taken over the years and pick my favourites. I wish someone would do it for me! I have made it my mission this year though to properly sort through them all.

trinity4720 · 20/04/2021 12:37

Photos are so important to me especially since researching my family tree - we moved around a lot so photos have been lost along the way and I wish there were more photos of my grandparents so the ones I do have I cherish. I keep all my photos in date order on my computer now and make Photo Books for important occasions. I hope to make one for each of my children on their 18th Birthdays - showing them growing up. We also have photos on all our walls in the home and when we got married we could not afford a photographer so we asked all our guests to take pictures - they were brilliant and spontaneous which was so fun to look back on.

lucyrobinson · 20/04/2021 15:14

I make memory books for my children. Mostly of our summer holidays.

lauracree89 · 20/04/2021 15:37

Every year on his birthday I print off my favourite photos of my son from the past year (with family, outings, experiences etc), from my phone and icloud album where my parents upload them.

I then make a massive photo wall in my dining room. Each year they change and I keep them all in a photo album to look back through. I really enjoy my wall of arthur and it keeps me happy especially when I am missing him when he's at childcare whilst I am working from home

greig23 · 20/04/2021 16:48

love taking photos of me and my partner when we are on ohliday or out for afternoon tea! Its great to look back at them and see how much fun we had

tomskype · 20/04/2021 17:15

Early video camera footage of my daughter (before mobile phones had decent video cameras if any!), just love watching her play.

crossfi · 20/04/2021 19:15

One of my most treasured memories is of being present when my youngest daughter gave birth to my granddaughter. I took lots of photographs of my daughter meeting her daughter. Initially all these photos went into two albums, one for my daughter and one for my granddaughter. Now they are all on discs which we enjoy looking at on the laptop.

Family and friends ! I snap anything throughout my day literally then print ones that mean thd most ! May be old fashioned to some but i have 100s of albums collected over 40 years

They are my hope and inspiration and something to pass to future generations
Fo much joy

karla10 · 20/04/2021 20:36

Very simply my twins and their journey growing i take 100s and 1000s of photos of them and make books and print pictures. They are my favourite memories always !

WeOnlyPlannedTheFirst · 20/04/2021 20:36

I'm not one for displaying many photos in the home, but thanks to always having my phone on me I have 1000s of photos of the children. They are backed up daily as I know in the past I have lost so many from changing handsets and losing usb sticks etc. I plan to create a life photobook for each child, or a series perhaps so ages 0-5, 5-10 etc. As a family we had a once in a lifetime holiday a few years ago and produced a hardback photobook - as it is on the bookshelf it is flicked through pretty regularly. It instantly brings back such amazing memories.
With 3 children very close in age, a lot of their babyhood feels a blur, but then certain photos bring memories flooding back and I find that they are there somewhere in the recesses of my mind!

kathward · 20/04/2021 21:07

Photographs of children and Grandchildren .During lock down as I have not been able to see them I have printed many out and put them in albums

natthem · 20/04/2021 21:44

I love to see photographs of me growing up and compare them with my daughters

Anniedun88 · 20/04/2021 21:48

I treasure every moment, be it good and bad, as I know my boys won’t be little forever. I try to take photos but also try to just take it in through my own eyes, as I don’t want to see it all through a screen. My boys had their first day at nursery together and have each other a cuddle as they were leaving the house - I caught this moment on my camera phone. A beautiful display of sibling love ❤️

paulthepython · 20/04/2021 22:24

Our trip to Thailand and laos with our 10 month old daughter and my parents was a real once in a lifetime thing. When we visited an ethical elephant sanctuary I did what I basically never do and bought their photo package. I knew that I just wanted to enjoy the experience without stressing that I wasn't capturing the best photos of it. I'm so glad I did. We moved into our house (the sale went through while we were away! So that was pretty nerve wrecking) the following year and we've been so busy doing it up we haven't actually had any photos printed yet but when we've finished I can't wait to put up a canvas in pride of place :)

SouthEmum · 20/04/2021 23:18

The photos I got of my new Godson over lockdown have been my most treasured pictures. I haven't been able to meet him in person yet so the pictures I got of him are so precious of him. I'm watching him grow through the lens. I just can't wait to meet him.
