This sponsored discussion is now closed. Thanks to everyone who shared their memories on the thread below.

The way we capture memories has changed a lot over the years and the prevalence of smartphones in our modern world now means that almost everyone has a camera at their fingertips. Whether it was an unexpectedly special moment or a day you knew you would always remember for the right or wrong reasons, Fujifilm would like to hear about your treasured memories as a child, adult, or parent and how you have captured those moments to be able to remember them.

Here’s what Fujifilm has to say: “We all have those special memories that we like to think back on from time to time, whether that be from your own childhood, in your adult life, or as part of parenthood. There are so many key moments throughout life, and there's so many different ways to capture them - whether that be a keepsake, or on video, on a digital, disposable or instant camera, or just snapshots on your smartphone. At Fujifilm, we want to empower you to bring your stories to life, to tell it your way, and add new chapters as it evolves.

Everybody has a unique story to tell about their most treasured memories, and we would love to hear how you've captured yours. We’re also offering Mumsnet users 20% off all photobooks, photo gifts and wall art! Just use the code FUJIMUMS20 at www.myfujifilm.co.uk.”

What is your most treasured memory? Were you able to capture that moment on film or in a photo? How do you display your photos within your home? Perhaps you have a dedicated photo wall for everyone to see or a dusty stack of family albums to look through when you’re feeling nostalgic? Is the camera roll on your phone full to the brim with photos that you haven’t yet had the opportunity to print, but would love to be able to show off?

All who post on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

elizaco · 14/04/2021 19:24

Photos from holidays when the children were little are my favourites. The days of proper photos!

Sdoh88 · 14/04/2021 19:33

I love a physical photo album and always loved looking through them as a child. As soon as i fell pregnant i knew i wanted to make a proper photo album for my babies to have to look through as they grow. I try to print off photos every month to keep on top of it.

welshmardymum · 14/04/2021 19:38

i have a group photo of me, my parents, my sisters and our families - we all live in different countries and its not often we are together, and as my parents get older an now with travel restrictions it may not happen again - the photo was taken with the camera propped up on a picnic table, some of the kids are grumpy, one is even crying and they all want to go do something else but it means the world to me - its on the bookshelf in a big frame so i can look at it when i'm relaxing and see my lovely family whom i miss!

stillcrazyafterall · 14/04/2021 19:42

For my two boys (now 25 and 31) I did a scrapbook for their 18th birthday with a photo per year. They loved them.

Theimpossiblegirl · 14/04/2021 20:13

I have so many photos of my children, but like many mums, not many with me in them too. On the rare occasion I get a picture of the 4 of us, I really treasure it.

biffyboom · 14/04/2021 20:15

Like most people nowadays, our photos and videos are taken on our phones. It's so much more convenient, and we now photograph all aspects of our lives continually, but I think it has also made them seem less special.
I used to love getting the old photo albums out as a child, and asking about past relatives, especially the ones in black and white. I think sadly, this is probably going to be a lost activity.

susan1983uk · 14/04/2021 20:19

My most treasured memories is my wedding day, and having my lil' one there with me as my flower girl made it extra special.

sarat1 · 14/04/2021 20:23

I love looking back at photographs. My favourite is hard to pick but I do love my photos of my baby being born by c-section, taken on my smartphone by a nurse for me. I feel privileged to have been able to witness the event.

quizqueen · 14/04/2021 21:00

I much prefer real printed photos in an album to keeping them online but, sadly, don't print them out any longer. I do still have lots though of my children growing up, pre internet days, when we lived abroad for several years in the USA and on mainland Europe.

Hopezibah · 14/04/2021 21:39

I miss the old days of sending my film off to be developed and then eagerly waiting to see what photos would emerge. But the plus side with digital is no printing off duff photos - you can pick the good ones and delete the rest. Though we are never organised enough to actually go through and delete the bad ones after all.

I used to print off my top 100 photos each year to put in an album or make a photo book with but I forgot to do that last year. We take a family photo every year on Christmas day - it's my one ask of the family for christmas - I don't want presents but I do expect everyone to pose for a family photo as getting one photo a year of us all together really isn't too much to ask - well I don't think so anyway.

I wish I could get more organised with sorting the photos on my phone!

I have so many of my own childhood memories when I look through my old photo albums and I do fear that there is so much less of that these days so I wonder if my kids will have as much to look back on because although we take more photos, far fewer are printed off.

jenesaisqu0i · 14/04/2021 21:59

We were just looking through our wedding photos this evening and they are very treasured for us. Having all our loved ones together was something so special and having the memories down in photographs on my phone and in scrapbooks is so heartwarming to look back on. Our latest trip was to New York and this was our most memorable holiday together so far. We took (so many!) photo's and videos with my phone camera. I have one special photo on display of us in Central Park overlooking the ice rink. ❄️❤️

littlebillie · 14/04/2021 22:05

I've enjoyed photography all my life and took thousands of picture of my children and my family.

My most treasured picture is of my father. He was a quiet shy man and I caught him laughing with his sister, it's a beautiful photo and now we have a treasured image.

buckley1983 · 14/04/2021 22:17

So many happy memories of going through boxes of family photos - I've tried to print out as many of ours as I can as nothing beats holding the physical photos! I'm not big on putting them up on the walls - but I love looking through albums.
My favourite is one which captures 4 generations of our family - my Gran, my Mum, me & my gorgeous son - taken many years ago now - but still have it as my screensaver & it makes me smile everyday :)

redbook · 14/04/2021 22:21

Some of my best memories haven't been captured. I hope I don't forget them.

Each year I do an album of our photos for the year, and have done since DS was born 7 years ago. I love looking through them and hope DS appreciates them too when he's older.

wellingtonsandwaffles · 14/04/2021 22:29

These days my phone is far better than any of the fancy cameras my husband used to have, but I still love getting printed photos - only about once a year but send them out old school style. We do lots of shared albums too of family events so everyone can add their photos. Have made a couple into family puzzles too.

DrydenAird · 14/04/2021 23:04

I've been using the phone on my camera for years - it's surprising how many good ones I've managed to take (and of course hundreds have been deleted because they were rubbish!). We keep them on a memory stick and every so often play a slide show of family life through the years.

Olinguito · 15/04/2021 00:10

I really enjoy looking through old family photos which were printed at the time, and even better if they were put into albums. Nowadays I am guilty of keeping lots of photos digitally, and not particularly well organised. It is my ambition to sort them out one day and print the best ones!

Sid98 · 15/04/2021 01:04

I take photo on my phone

PickledChicory · 15/04/2021 01:28

We have a lovely rogues gallery of printed photos going up our stairs. Still a work in progress and youngest DC not in many of the photos. Pictures of the kids are v natural and of happy days out or chilling at home.

digginthedancingqueen · 15/04/2021 06:56

Any photo of my kids having fun and laughing/ smiling are treasured. Not a fan of studio posed photos. Prefer natural ones.

Coffeemummy123 · 15/04/2021 08:06

My most treasured memory is only with me, my mum and sister. The birth of my daughter and first few days were only witnessed by us so remains the most special time as only us 3 witnessed it. We talk about the time fondly between the 4 of us (daughter is a teen now)

ButterflyOfFreedom · 15/04/2021 08:20

Mixed bag at our house - we have photo albums, photo frames, photos stored on phones & laptops, photos randomly around the house (not even in frames), a digital photo frame, photos on canvas...
Complete mix too in terms of subject- lots of the children, some of me & hubby, some of family, some holiday memories, obligatory school photos...
I love the mix, no real scheme or order - makes them more special in a way.
We've had some professional photos done in the past but it's often the random, point & click shots that turn out the best. Even my favourite photos from our wedding day was one taken by a friend and not the actual (heavily paid) wedding photographer!!

Teatoweltable · 15/04/2021 08:30

I do family photobooks every Christmas, it forces me to download all our photos and sort them out properly.

lizd31 · 15/04/2021 09:10

My most treasured memory is when I was in hospital at the age of two. My parents were told that if I didn't have an operation I wouldn't live to be three. Although I was very young I still recall being in hospital & because I was so young the sister on the ward would carry me around on the doctors' rounds each day. I adored her, as did my parents. She was the loveliest, bubbliest Jamaican lady & my parents bought me a beautiful black doll when I came out of hospital to remind me of her. I still have Jemima to this day & she looks as good as new as I've treasured her all my life. I will pass her on to my great niece Olivia & hope that she will be passed on through the generations. She is still wearing the same dress & bonnet that she had on the day I received her. Whenever I see her I think of my days in the hospital & think how lucky I was to get through the operation 59 years ago.
