The way we capture memories has changed a lot over the years and the prevalence of smartphones in our modern world now means that almost everyone has a camera at their fingertips. Whether it was an unexpectedly special moment or a day you knew you would always remember for the right or wrong reasons, Fujifilm would like to hear about your treasured memories as a child, adult, or parent and how you have captured those moments to be able to remember them.

Here’s what Fujifilm has to say: “We all have those special memories that we like to think back on from time to time, whether that be from your own childhood, in your adult life, or as part of parenthood. There are so many key moments throughout life, and there's so many different ways to capture them - whether that be a keepsake, or on video, on a digital, disposable or instant camera, or just snapshots on your smartphone. At Fujifilm, we want to empower you to bring your stories to life, to tell it your way, and add new chapters as it evolves.

Everybody has a unique story to tell about their most treasured memories, and we would love to hear how you've captured yours. We’re also offering Mumsnet users 20% off all photobooks, photo gifts and wall art! Just use the code FUJIMUMS20 at www.myfujifilm.co.uk.”

What is your most treasured memory? Were you able to capture that moment on film or in a photo? How do you display your photos within your home? Perhaps you have a dedicated photo wall for everyone to see or a dusty stack of family albums to look through when you’re feeling nostalgic? Is the camera roll on your phone full to the brim with photos that you haven’t yet had the opportunity to print, but would love to be able to show off?

All who post on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

My treasured memory is an old black and white photo I have of myself and my sibling taken with Santa Claus at our home. Mum got us all dressed up and told us to stay clean, we went outside to play in the coal bunker!! and when Santa came to the house we were so dirty and mum was so angry that she made us have the photo taken in that state. Photographs hold all your lovely memories.

I made a quilt from oddments of cloth when I was growing up. Old clothes, pinnies, scarves they were all used to make it. Took me about 10 years to complete and I have passed it on to my GD.
We didn’t have a camera at home and I didn’t have any school photos either. No idea why.

My most treasured memories are family Christmas when I was a child and my aunt and grandpa were still alive - they were the most magical times. I have them in old photo albums and they bring me a mixture of happiness and sadness when I look at them.

sharond101 · 16/04/2021 19:36

My children's birth. How my Husband and I united in such an intimate and life changing experience. I have photographs of the experience only we will ever look upon and they cement us together forever.

My time in Saudi Arabia has to be amongst my most treasured memories. My cousin lived in Saudi and passed away 2 years ago and I still think of her constantly. Whilst the pain of losing her hasn't gone away, I always think fondly of the times I spent with her when she was alive. She was a ray of light whenever there was darkness.

I have many treasured memories. Some of the ones I look forward to is DS's school pics every year. I collect them and love seeing the transformation.

Myself and my (now) Dh went on a really cheap Greek holiday when we were early 20s. We got a super cheap single use underwater camera and it was amazing! We spent our days snorkelling and taking pictures underwater of the beautiful fish, such great memories of a carefree time, before 2 children came along!

We have lots of digital photos of our children mainly from our phones. They are stored on an external hard drive and the kids love it when we put them all up on the TV and go through them. We love looking at how they have changed. The memories and photos of their first years are some of the most precious.

Whiskyinajar · 17/04/2021 09:07

My most precious memories are of my son as a baby. He was so wanted and long awaited.
He was born end of 2002 and I desperately wanted a digital camera to photograph him but at the time we couldn't afford it. So old fashioned film and camera it was.

I have boxes of photos which he thinks are "lame" (he's 18...and has no soul haha).

These days all my photos, are digital and taken with my phone.

SmileyShazza · 17/04/2021 10:41

My mos treasured photos are the ones of our son from the weekend of his 1st birthday with his grandad (DH's dad). We had a birthday get together on the Saturday and then DS was christened on the Sunday. It was a lovely weekend.

Unfortunately 5 days later my husbands father died unexpectedly so that weekend was the last time we saw him. Those photographs are so special to us.

We store all our photos electronically on two different cloud storage areas and also have a lot printed in albums catalogued by years. We display a lot of them around our house too.

salemaxo · 17/04/2021 12:29

It has to be the kids growing up, especially when they make faces at the camera.

alshareif · 17/04/2021 12:30

Definitely my own childhood. I miss those times when everything was much simpler. It's so crazy how time flies past!

MParke · 17/04/2021 12:34

I have so many but I'll mention the one that comes to mind now: my high school memories. Unfortunately I don't have any photos of those particular cherished memories, but it was such a laugh and I'm so sad that time has just flew by.

WowOoo · 17/04/2021 12:49

We have lovely photos of our first family holiday together in Madeira. We all look so relaxed and young. One of our friends took lots of excellent photos with a great camera so we are all in them. Usually I’m the one taking pictures.

nausicaa35 · 17/04/2021 17:45

My most treasured memories are my holidays. I remember them by either printing the photos and creating a scrapbook or making a photo book.

Downriver · 17/04/2021 19:21

So many, it is hard to choose. For example, wehave photographed every elaborate birthday cake we have made over the years for DC and so Mark passing years. But I think I might be inclined to say that the most treasured ones are the rare ones from my pre digital childhood. So few and far between, but still I remember the moments of family life or fun with friends.

mummyuk86 · 17/04/2021 20:02

My most treasured memories are my sons' milestones such as birthdays, sitting up unaided and walking.
I took photos on my digital camera of each stage and have a memory book that I keep adding photos to as milestones are checked off.

Amaksy · 17/04/2021 23:20

Most memorable moments are captured on my phone even though I’m out with my camera at times I find my phone really handy to take pictures and record videos too. These are easy to upload to the cloud for storage or usb for later to share with others.

maisietoo · 18/04/2021 07:25

I have treasured memories of my care-free childhood - playing on a tree swing, making mud pies, catching grasshoppers and feeding them to our chickens, climbing up and entering through the 'window' of the tree house instead of going up the ladder, picking and eating clover which has a sour but nice taste - yet I have no pictures at all because in those days children didn't have or use cameras.

GK11 · 18/04/2021 09:53

I get my favourites of special occasions made up into photo albums online. or for gifts I give photo calendars

pushchairprincess · 18/04/2021 10:16

I always capture milestones, birthdays, Christmas Day, first day at school on my camera, and love to send copies of photos to close family, you can't beat a photo in a frame on your mantlepiece, a memory which makes you smile is priceless.

Montydoo · 18/04/2021 10:19

I have treasured photos in an album of my childhood, holidays, birthdays and the obligatory first day at school.
I have a camera which I treasure, and often take the SD card down to the supermarket to take photos of special moments, you cannot beat it - it's too sad to keep memories on a mobile phone. Here's one I love.

Always capturing memories ! Baby photos - lots - well they change soo much daily, first tooth, sitting up - then onto first walk, day at school, holidays.
I have lots of albums, and after seeing this post have got them out of my wardrobe and had a wonderful morning, with a few tears seeing my children.
My parents and in-laws have an upto date photo of their GC on their mantlepiece and they love to see them - particularly relevant during lockdown to keep them smiling.

zindeggeh · 18/04/2021 14:28

I have so many, but I would have to say those of my nan. I remember her laugh and her little market stall. Everyone in the neighbourhood knew her and I remember being so proud that she was MY nan.

Patafi · 18/04/2021 14:45

My most precious memories are those that no photo will ever be able to grab. It's the feeling associated behind the events, such as the times when we went abroad to visit family and that togetherness I felt. I don't take any of the time I have with family for granted.
