This sponsored discussion is now closed. Thanks to everyone who shared their memories on the thread below.

The way we capture memories has changed a lot over the years and the prevalence of smartphones in our modern world now means that almost everyone has a camera at their fingertips. Whether it was an unexpectedly special moment or a day you knew you would always remember for the right or wrong reasons, Fujifilm would like to hear about your treasured memories as a child, adult, or parent and how you have captured those moments to be able to remember them.

Here’s what Fujifilm has to say: “We all have those special memories that we like to think back on from time to time, whether that be from your own childhood, in your adult life, or as part of parenthood. There are so many key moments throughout life, and there's so many different ways to capture them - whether that be a keepsake, or on video, on a digital, disposable or instant camera, or just snapshots on your smartphone. At Fujifilm, we want to empower you to bring your stories to life, to tell it your way, and add new chapters as it evolves.

Everybody has a unique story to tell about their most treasured memories, and we would love to hear how you've captured yours. We’re also offering Mumsnet users 20% off all photobooks, photo gifts and wall art! Just use the code FUJIMUMS20 at www.myfujifilm.co.uk.”

What is your most treasured memory? Were you able to capture that moment on film or in a photo? How do you display your photos within your home? Perhaps you have a dedicated photo wall for everyone to see or a dusty stack of family albums to look through when you’re feeling nostalgic? Is the camera roll on your phone full to the brim with photos that you haven’t yet had the opportunity to print, but would love to be able to show off?

All who post on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

With 3 children and having always been a stickler for carrying a camera from being young (as my mother always did) I have SOOOO many photos. I do try to upload the best ones to social media (more for my own benefit - so I can't possibly lose them) and I also try to make a point of regularly getting photo's and photobooks printed. I suppose the good thing about having a camera on your phone is that lots of photos can be taken ... but it's a real nightmare trying to keep on top of them with regards deleting the ones I don't want to keep and filing/using the good ones! 21st century problems eh! I do LOVE photo's though. Having a great photo is such a wonderful thing. Such good memories, especially when people are lost or you can't see them regularly.

My most treasured memories are capturing my children as they grew up. I loved sending the film off for developing and the excitement of when they arrived back and looking through the photos. Even if some were a little rubbish it was always exciting

burwellmum · 15/04/2021 11:46

I have so many photos. When the older children were young I was very disciplined about labelling them and putting them in albums. With the arrival of number 4 I just had too much to do and it fell by the wayside. I now have bags of photos from the days of film and a hard drive full of digital ones. One day.....

My most treasured memories often revolve around special events like family holidays, I love to use my phone to take lots of snaps of our family holidays to share with loved ones

Wilma55 · 15/04/2021 16:38

I select favourites from the digital camera and create a collage with other momentoes from the holiday/occasion and frame on the wall.

PashleyB · 15/04/2021 16:40

I periodically create a photo book as it's nice to have the physical copy of photos. We also update the photos we have in frames on the shelves from time to time.

It must be days out at the beach here in the UK on exceptionally hot, sunny days. That glorious sense of feeling you could be abroad without the hassle of needing to travel far, and whiling away hours playing in the sea and sand.

I have great memories of these days both as a child myself and as an adult with children of my own.

jdore1964 · 15/04/2021 16:58

photos of when we were little with lost loved ones and more recently, photos of our parents are really treasured

jellybeanpopper · 15/04/2021 17:00

Holiday photos are our favourite, my 4yo has been looking at them the last few months, feeling the holiday blues like the rest of us!

jellybeanpopper · 15/04/2021 17:01

Photos of special occasions and celebrations, wedding, birthdays etc are great but some of our favourites are the photos taken on spontaneous days out etc.

jellybeanpopper · 15/04/2021 17:03

All my photos are taken on my smartphone but DH does have a SLR. I just find that he takes such a long time to edit and download photos, sometimes I don’t think we ever see them!

Journeynotdestination · 15/04/2021 17:56

Most treasured memories are all of my children aged 0-5yrs. I took them on an old Rolleiflex 2.8f and cut out the images from the black and white contact sheet and displayed them in a big Habitat glass front & back frame. A couple are colour from my iPhone or taken with my Fuji X100.

MummyBtothree · 15/04/2021 19:19

I treasure all my photos of our three boys. We have some in frames displayed on the wall and mine and my husband's phone are full of photos that we regularly look back on.

FreshBedding · 15/04/2021 20:09

We have a map in our home and around it are our treasured family holiday photos taken from around the world. It's beautiful and brings back some wonderful memories every time we look at it.

kathcake21 · 15/04/2021 22:42

I treasure every photo of my family as they all mean so much

jacintabakes · 15/04/2021 23:01

How lovely Shiela! The holidays are always such fun!

jacintabakes · 15/04/2021 23:02

@sheilads105

We have taken (and printed and framed) photos of our kids every christmas eve since they were born. They adorn our kitchen wall and the memories of those younger babes is there everyday for us to see.
How lovely Shiela. All those frames must've been pricey. I'd never manage!

Wow! How brave of you to use social media. Social media is actively destroying our children's brains. DS spends all his time stuck to that phone. I just don't know what to do. I'm at my wit's end!!! Angry Sad
Serender · 15/04/2021 23:15

Baby pics definitely. I love seeing how the kids are growing up, but I also feel nostalgic.

PatrishaPatel · 15/04/2021 23:18

My most treasured memories are of family, especially those that have passed. I've managed to have some captured in photos and it brings tears of joy and sometimes of sadness to have that available.

Rosehassometoes · 16/04/2021 08:12

We have started getting a Christmas photo of the children every year. This started as a grotto photo now we go to a studio.

Gazelda · 16/04/2021 08:55

My favourite memories are family holidays, either from my childhood or with my DD.
We've made up a photo book every year since DD was born as well as on special occasions (our wedding, Disney trips, Y6 leaver events etc).
We've also got far too many photos dotted around the house. I keep thinking I should put some away, but each one makes me smile.

Zimbabwe54 · 16/04/2021 09:04

I have a treasured photo of me at 5 months old being held by my mum.We are on the ship from Capetown to Southampton in 1955.It would be the first time ever my mum had seen snow .To this day we never walk on the snow in the garden so my mum Daisy can enjoy it for as long as possible .The pic brings back so many memories of what was a very hard life for my parents. An interracial marriage in the 50s was not easy

MrsFrTedCrilly · 16/04/2021 09:15

We make a calendar every year with the DC photos on, it’s a lovely keepsake and a nice gift for grandparents. Phones are also full to the brim with photos which occasionally get printed out and framed

InTheNightWeWillWish · 16/04/2021 11:39

My most treasured memory is my wedding day. Growing up I was very close to my aunt. At my wedding, she was cancer free and celebrating. My family was in a great mood. We went straight on honeymoon and while we were away my aunt’s secondary breast cancer symptoms started. It was quick and 3 months after our wedding she’d died.

It was cold on our wedding day and we didn’t do the standard wedding portraits. I was sad for a while after that we’d not used that opportunity to capture a photo of my family and now we wouldn’t have that opportunity. But my aunt enjoyed my wedding. She didn’t stop dancing. She’s in the background of photos and drunken videos captured on phones. As much as I’d love that family portrait, I know that posing for that photo would have meant less time of her having fun. I love catching glimpses of her in the background, laughing, dancing and talking to old family friends. While I don’t have that family portrait, I know my aunt loved my wedding and it was the last bit of fun she had.
