Mumsnet users share their dream takeaway with Deliveroo

This sponsored discussion is now closed. Thank you to everyone who took part.

Takeaways are perfect for those days when cooking up a big family dinner is the last thing you want to think about. After a particularly long day at work or a busy first week back at school, you may feel that your favourite takeaway is needed more than ever. With this in mind, Deliveroo would like to hear about your dream takeaway.

Here’s what Deliveroo has to say: “At the end of the first week back at school, you may feel like treating your family and having their favourite takeaway delivered. That’s why we’re excited to hear about your favourite takeaways and to give 10 of you £50 Deliveroo credit so you can treat your family to a well deserved meal.

But that's not the only way Deliveroo can help with your back to school meal times! You can Eat In to Help Out with Deliveroo every Mon-Weds in September. We’re offering £5 off when you spend £20 on delicious food delivered from local restaurants*. So whilst Eat Out to Help Out may have ended, Deliveroo is continuing to support the restaurant industry and you can too (without leaving your home).”

So, we are asking you: If you could order any takeaway to be delivered, what would it be? If you were to use the Eat In to Help Out with Deliveroo scheme to order a takeaway, what would you choose? Are you a creature of habit who peruses menus for at least 10 minutes before inevitably deciding you’ll have the same as last time? Or do you like to try a new restaurant each time? Would a takeaway delivery after the first week back free up more time for you to spend as a family, and if so, how would you spend it?

Whether Mexican fajitas, Thai noodles or a classic Italian pizza is the takeaway of your dreams, share below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where 10 lucky MNers will each win £50 credit to spend on Deliveroo (T&Cs apply).

Thanks and good luck!

I would choose loads of starters!! I LOVE starters! I'm talking all those Chinese restaurants ones - squid, prawn, seaweed, chicken, wantan, soup, gyozo's, dumplings, literally everything (with a bit of rice lol!)

I would go for a Wagamama as it suits the whole family. The children's meal is really reasonable and varied, healthy and tasty and gets them eating much needed veg, there's enough spice for the man in my
Life and I'm happy with the food as it always seems fresh, healthy, abundant and extremely tasty. It's definitely a takeaway that suits us and everyone's happy. I would definitely with the £50 try the different starters as I've always stuck with what I know in the mains but the starters always look delicious. When choosing from a menu if I'm really hungry, tired and don't want to chance it I always stick with my favourites but when a takeaway is planned and not rushed me and my partner will always try a different dish but my daughter always sticks to her fave.

It would have to be my local chicken shop it doesn't deliver so I would love for them to start. The chicken is amazing 🍗🍗🍗

Wagamamas!
LOVE a katsu curry. And my DD would go for the Children's chicken noodles.
A close second might be our local Chinese - we usually order enough to feed the street! And who doesn't love a bag of prawn crackers!?!

My favourite Deliveroo delivery is from our local Thai restaurant- pad Thai and spring rolls 😋

I always say I'm going to try something different but never do as my usual' is so nice!

For us it's all about the Thai

We try to change it up with what we order but we usually have the same things
When we go away we always use Deliveroo to sample different restaurants (admittedly nearly always Thai) because we have limited choice here in Margate! Having kids mean dinner out isn't always so relaxing especially after a day of exploring. The kids love it too.

Crispy chicken wings
Little pork spring rolls
A red duck curry but the duck separate and crispy
Basil stir fry with pork belly
Pad Thai
Egg fried rice
Prawn crackers (the brown ones)
And sometimes pad see eiw too

Omg I'm starving now and it's 8am!!

Deliveroo sadly delivers the same rubbish as Just Eat in our area but if I were closer to C London I would order sushi or ramen.

The crispy, spicy tofu from the Chinese restaurant near us. The breaded chicken for ds and a mountain of noodles. Spring rolls and dumplings. Prawn crackers... I have been dreaming about this - the restaurant only recently opened for takeaway only and we were planning on getting one the night before he goes back to school (so Thursday this week please!)

Thai green curry with tofu and vegetables. I love tofu but I can't cook it at home, can't get it right!

My family (even my 2&5year olds) absolutely LOVE Sushi and Sashimi. I would order some Ramen soup and dumplings for stater with Edamame beans followed by platters of Sushi and Sashimi. Lots of wasabi and ginger pickle and soya too.

Love fresh sushi!!

Mexican would be our takeaway of choice! Whether it's tacos, fajitas, enchiladas, it's something that I KNOW all of us will enjoy, without someone being fussy and opting out.

Ooh, my dream takeaway is a two-parter as well...! I'd go for a "classic favourite" to start - there's nothing I like more than fish and chips from the local chippy (which sadly isn't walking distance). And then I'd try something new with desserts from our local ice cream cafe. They do pancakes and waffles and other yummy treats too - it's going to take us ages to sample the full menu!

As for family time - the baby twins would be too little to join in, but it would be a lovely treat to share with our eldest daughter when the little ones are in bed (she doesn't get us all to herself much any more, but is such a good big sister!)

Chinese for me definately - with plenty of prawn toast and duck pancakes!

I'd choose either pizza, Lebanese or Greek. I'm the only vegetarian in this house and those options have plenty of choice for me. We have ordered deliveries a few times in the last few months - birthday or exam result celebrations - and it usually involves hours of menu study! I like the idea of having a Deliveroo next week when DD2 goes back to school - preferably lots of different dishes from our local Lebanese restaurant - tabbouleh, sambousek, flatbreads, falafel, hummus, ful mesdames, baklava... 😁

Japanese is my favourite and I would have eel fried rice, grilled eel, octopus dumplings, vegetable tempura and pork curry, plenty for the next day 😁

We ALWAYS choose the same things from the same local place. How tedious you say, but when you've found a winning combo, why change?

I'm probably very boring but I would definitely have our favourite local chineese delivered, peach blossom, we've tried others and they just don't compare. However, if it was anything I liked, I'd also get the driver to pick up a bottle of rose wine for me and a bottle of something for the husband and a lovely profiterole dessert from M&S for afters!

I would order some real, traditional Mexican (not Tex mex - authentic Mexican food!) Frijoles de la Olla, Chimichangas with black beans, proper fresh salsa picante, fresh guacamole, pickled chilis, charred corn and queso fresco cheese.
Soft Tacos with piccolo tomatoes, sliced avocado, refried beans, queso fresco and flame grilled chicken, marinated in chipotle chilis and topped with charred corn.

Handmade corn chips on the side.

Now I need Mexican food 🤤

I love Japanese food, so would probably choose gyoza and a bowl of ramen.
