Mumsnet users share their dream takeaway with Deliveroo

This sponsored discussion is now closed. Thank you to everyone who took part.

Takeaways are perfect for those days when cooking up a big family dinner is the last thing you want to think about. After a particularly long day at work or a busy first week back at school, you may feel that your favourite takeaway is needed more than ever. With this in mind, Deliveroo would like to hear about your dream takeaway.

Here’s what Deliveroo has to say: “At the end of the first week back at school, you may feel like treating your family and having their favourite takeaway delivered. That’s why we’re excited to hear about your favourite takeaways and to give 10 of you £50 Deliveroo credit so you can treat your family to a well deserved meal.

But that's not the only way Deliveroo can help with your back to school meal times! You can Eat In to Help Out with Deliveroo every Mon-Weds in September. We’re offering £5 off when you spend £20 on delicious food delivered from local restaurants*. So whilst Eat Out to Help Out may have ended, Deliveroo is continuing to support the restaurant industry and you can too (without leaving your home).”

So, we are asking you: If you could order any takeaway to be delivered, what would it be? If you were to use the Eat In to Help Out with Deliveroo scheme to order a takeaway, what would you choose? Are you a creature of habit who peruses menus for at least 10 minutes before inevitably deciding you’ll have the same as last time? Or do you like to try a new restaurant each time? Would a takeaway delivery after the first week back free up more time for you to spend as a family, and if so, how would you spend it?

Whether Mexican fajitas, Thai noodles or a classic Italian pizza is the takeaway of your dreams, share below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where 10 lucky MNers will each win £50 credit to spend on Deliveroo (T&Cs apply).

Thanks and good luck!

pizza and pasta from our favourite Italian restaurant. So, creamy carbonara, cheesy garlic bread and lovely freshly baked pizzas with steak and asparagus on top. Yummy!

It would have to be an Indian with the works, we love getting different things to try and all digging in.

I haven't used deliveroo yet, so interested to try it.

I'd love an Indian, with poppadoms, naan and onion bhajis!

Or failing that (if husband doesn't agree) there's a lovely independent burger place near us that does Deliveroo. So tasty!

Five guys burger with all the trimmings, regular fries and a chocolate shake w/o cream. We are outside the delivery zone for them though! 😞

Oh, my perfect back to school takeaway would be pizza! Soooo much delicious pizza - we have great local pizzerias that we as a family haven't tried yet so I would definitely be ordering from some of those. We all love pepperoni so would try that, but would also be tempted to try a few different combos this time! It frees up so much time when we order a takeaway to be delivered, it's always something we're tempted to do but usually costs a lot of money, so the eat out to help out offer of £5 off would really help too!

I'd choose something that I don't often cook at home or is time consuming to make so Japanese, Turkish, Greek or Moroccan food. I'd also be happy with Thai or Indian. I'd take a while choosing what to have.

Ho fun noodles if having Chinese or Masaman curry if we're having Thai food 🤤

I have just discovered a local Turkish place, unfortunately my carer doesn't like anything on the menu and another friend in our 'bubble' is dieting so my ideal would be from three different take aways, all delivered together.

Actually maybe 4 as there is an alcohol and cakes place that delivers.

Pasta or salad! Really nice salads!

Ohh the takeaway of my choice would be a cinema night kinda takeaway, nachos cheese salsa jalapeno! Or finger food kind of stuff that I can't be bothered to make at home as they are so time consuming like mini chicken satay, italian bruschetta with tomato salsa, buffalo chicken wings or buffalo chicken cheese balls.

AAAAAND DESSERT PLEASE! There is such a lack of dessert parlours in my area, more power to nutella crepes and waffles!

Nepalese momo followed by something from the tandoori oven. Yum!

We'd chose pizza from Pizza Hut.
We're definitely creatures of habit and stick to what we know and like - my boys love a margarita, my husband has a pepperoni and me a Hawaiian.

I would love Wagamama round here. Healthy and full of flavour. I am in a small town in the midlands though so very unlikely Sad

I can't get enough of Yo Sushi right now, so pleased that one has opened locally. Makes me feel happy that its a healthy takeaway too! Although I do put enough wasabi on to make my head explode! :)

Mine would be some very authentic thai streetfood. None of that creamy, sweet green curry sauce that you get in the supermarkets. super hot sour soup with prawns, pad thai and green mango salad. Washed down with singha beer, fresh lime juice and memories of Koh Samui in the 90s.

What I really want delivered is breakfast!
Amazing fresh pastries
French set yoghurt
French toast AND pancakes (why have one when you can have both) topped with berries and creme fraiche and maple syrup.
The freshest fresh orange juice and a litre of fresh black coffee.

(Can you tell I’m on a diet?)

If I were to win I'd order a big family sharer from our local Turkish restaurant, lots of kebabs, shish, doner, grilled halloumi, chips, pitta bread, salad, tzatziki, rice. It would be a special treat for us, my 1 year old loves this food, as after my maternity leave now I'm back to work and we don't see each other a lot with my partner, and at the moment we can't even afford take aways like this anyway.

I'm a fan of Chinese.
I always get the same, sweet and sour chicken & egg fried rice. A throwback to the 80s when getting a takeaway was a rare treat!

I would LOVE dim sum to be delivered. But usually go for Chinese takeaway or Indian food using deliveroo.

I pore over the menu, then choose an old favourite. I like all the starters, and very few mains! 😂
