It may be hard to think beyond the lockdown, but we’re all looking forward to getting back to doing the everyday things that we might have taken for granted. With this in mind, IKEA would love to hear what you’re most looking forward to once lockdown has been lifted.

Here’s what IKEA has to say: “Life at home has never felt more important than it does right now. But it’s brought some fresh new challenges. Whether it’s dealing with new colleagues that bark or cry, or finding distractions around every corner. Whilst we’re conquering the great indoors and enjoying time at home, we’re looking forward to getting back out in open spaces and catching up with friends, family and colleagues.”

What everyday things are you most looking forward to doing once the lockdown is over? Perhaps it’s a much needed post-quarantine haircut or being able to nip out to the supermarket planning for the entire week ahead? Are you looking forward to a quick visit to a friend or family member’s house for a cup of tea? Maybe you’re even looking forward to resuming your commute? Are you eager to have the freedom to be able to decide on an impromptu trip to IKEA for some meatballs?

Whatever you’re most looking forward to, share on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a £200 IKEA voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Eating veggie meatballs and getting a free cuppa at IKEA!

Lua · 22/05/2020 20:41

I would love to be able to finish my kitchen renovation, lockdown caught me half way through it....

onetwothreeadventure · 22/05/2020 21:33

Hugging my mum, the kids seeing their grandparents and little pals and decorating the house we moved into just before lockdown.

MerryTwinkletoes · 22/05/2020 22:14

Just seeing family and friends, it's the simple things I'm missing most!

Sharpandshineyteeth · 22/05/2020 22:52

I am looking forward to being able to pop round and see friends when they’ve had a bad day. Phone calls and texts don’t replace a hug and a cake.

Albgo · 22/05/2020 23:22

Heading to IKEA is actually really high on my list. In particular, I'm after their high chair, which the mum's in my MN bus fb group have all raved about. Also quite looking forward to IKEA's vegetarian meatballs!

WantToBeMum · 22/05/2020 23:56

I've been busy doing up my home (thanks for the deliveries Ikea 👍🏻). I'm most looking forward to spending time with my family who I'm separate from at the moment, closely followed by travelling somewhere for a lovely holiday.

Adarajames · 23/05/2020 00:34

Hugs! The one thing I am most looking forward to is unlimited hugs from friends and family!

Spanz10 · 23/05/2020 01:45

A family meal with all the family. Time to enjoy each others company in person

I was eyeing up the IKEA website last night after reading they might be reopening. But really I'd like to go and see my parents who live on the other side of the country.

Going to my local family run Mexican restaurant. I wanted to go one last time before I gave birth.

DD came 3 weeks early, which put paid to that. Then there was the newborn whirlwind for a few months. Space is somewhat limited at this restaurant, so we decided to wait until she's 6 months and can sit in a high chair. March finally arrives and with it lockdown.... Just hoping we can take DD before she turns 1 now. At least she'll be able to eat the food when we go now.

Having my parents round for lunch

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 23/05/2020 15:49

I'm looking forward to going to IKEA to get the missing bits to make my daughter's bed because I didn't see that you needed to buy the slats separately. Luckily she is still finding sleeping on the floor fun.

bellalou1234 · 23/05/2020 18:04

Hello, since Thursday I have had a weird smell in my nose it's like avation fuel, it's making me feel nauseous... has anyone ever experienced this?

1moreRep · 23/05/2020 19:50

having my friends over for a dinner party that moves outside and having drinks under the stars

EvilHerbivore · 23/05/2020 21:31

Seeing my friends - a few have had big life changing things happen over lockdown and it's been really hard not to be physically with them

MadamFlutterby · 23/05/2020 21:39

I'm most looking forward to (hoping for) a very near future where lessons have been learned, our environment has been given a chance to breathe and this blasted virus has been contained. Hopefully we will all value completely those that are closest to us and hold our nearest and dearest close and respect the world in which we live. I can only hope.

MeMeMeYou · 23/05/2020 21:41

Me on a personal level hugging my parents, I really miss them.

Other than that I’m looking forward to going to ikea for a kallax and a duvet! I managed to get a halvsta for my living room in my new house whilst on lockdown but kallax was out of stock and I can’t run to the delivery charge to order it now it’s in stock. I’ve finished painting the room so it’s the final touch!

OS2020 · 23/05/2020 21:42

Going home to my family. I've been living in the nursing home I manage for the past 9 weeks so I can ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone as far as possible, and provide the best support to my team.

Hopethiswilldo · 23/05/2020 22:09

Still looking forward to maybe just a random bit of info regarding my delivery if anyone at Ikea can be arsed, you have had my money for months now...

FiveMoreMinutesPlease · 24/05/2020 06:56

Funnily enough, I'm looking forward to ikea opening so I can go and buy my son a new bed as he has grown so much. Hopefully, that won't be took long now.

jacqui5366 · 24/05/2020 09:25

I am looking forward to seeing my work colleagues, i am lucky to call my workmates my friends, we work hard, have an incredible social life, and working in a City have an array of cinemas, and restaurants and theatres to visit - these times are so special to me, when I am me - not mum/wife/daughter/auntie to my family and I can have some 'me' time.

lillypopdaisyduke · 24/05/2020 14:40

holding a belated birthday party for my son, he is 11 and missed (along with many others) his Prom, and roller skating party, so will hire a room at the YMCA, and hold a party for all of the year 6's (when it is safe to do so)

FramptonRose · 24/05/2020 16:41

We got rid of our garden chairs and table at the end of last summer, so I could do a garden makeover this year. I have tons of stuff I need to get from IKEA, I keep putting it in the basket, but it is never available.
I will be there for an IKEA breakfast, my garden furniture, IKEA meatballs, more shopping then some ikea food to take home, if they open on the 1st June.

HelpMeDrRanj · 24/05/2020 18:49

I'm really looking forward to having a big family get together when we're allowed to socialise again - because of coronavirus 4 of my nieces and nephews have missed out on their birthday parties, so we're long overdue a party for them all! It'll be lovely to let the kids play and have a good catch up CakeWine
