It may be hard to think beyond the lockdown, but we’re all looking forward to getting back to doing the everyday things that we might have taken for granted. With this in mind, IKEA would love to hear what you’re most looking forward to once lockdown has been lifted.

Here’s what IKEA has to say: “Life at home has never felt more important than it does right now. But it’s brought some fresh new challenges. Whether it’s dealing with new colleagues that bark or cry, or finding distractions around every corner. Whilst we’re conquering the great indoors and enjoying time at home, we’re looking forward to getting back out in open spaces and catching up with friends, family and colleagues.”

What everyday things are you most looking forward to doing once the lockdown is over? Perhaps it’s a much needed post-quarantine haircut or being able to nip out to the supermarket planning for the entire week ahead? Are you looking forward to a quick visit to a friend or family member’s house for a cup of tea? Maybe you’re even looking forward to resuming your commute? Are you eager to have the freedom to be able to decide on an impromptu trip to IKEA for some meatballs?

Whatever you’re most looking forward to, share on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a £200 IKEA voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

I don't miss the crowded trains. I'm looking forward to happier DC - school without social distancing, seeing them run about at playgrounds, seeing friends, eating out (the first time is going to be SURREAL), swimming...

MsSlightyConfused · 26/05/2020 22:57

Taking all my sorted through tat to the charity shop

Mindblank · 26/05/2020 23:14

A day at the beach. We’ll take a picnic, invite the grand parents and stay all day. Can’t wait!

YesThisIsMe · 26/05/2020 23:31

Seeing my father. It’s been a tough few months for him on his own and I just want to take the DC down, hang out, walk the dog, visit the seaside together, and maybe go to the pub for a nice lunch and a half of real ale.

I'm looking forward to a good meal out and seeing family and friends.

boptanana · 27/05/2020 09:13

I want to see my friends and family more than anything!

First thing would be to see our daughter who doesn't live with us, misses her so much, next is to see mum and dad. Then I need a trip to Ikea because our daughter has moved home with toddler granddaughter and we've no storage at all. Upstairs is a tip, toys everywhere and not enough room for their clothes. Having said that it's lovely having them here and we want them to feel like this is their home as much as it's ours Smile

I'm looking forward to seeing my grown up dd because I haven't seen her since the start of March. She is a police officer so I've been constantly worried about her, though she has been fine throughout and so has her partner, also a police officer. She lives a long way away and I'd love to see her. She is also desperate to come and see us because we have a 10 week old puppy that she hasn't properly seen yet, although she has facetimed him! We are a dog crazy family, so it's hard all round...

Hi all! An update from IKEA below:

"We’re excited to announce that from 1st June we will be welcoming you back to our IKEA stores in England and Northern Ireland. More information around stores that are opening and other measures that will be in place can be found here"

I want to go and sit on a cornish beach with a pasty and a pint of rattler, whilst being safe in the knowledge that the public loos are open!!

Then we'll stop off at Bristol IKEA on the way home and pick up a chest of drawers, a canopy to create a den and some funky lights so that we can finally finish my daughters bedroom. After which we will eat hotdogs and I'll eat eleven billion mini dime bars on the way home.

It's funny the things you look forward to 😂

motorcyclenumptiness · 27/05/2020 19:03

Never thought I'd say this but ... I'm looking forward to going to the dentist. And I'm looking forward to shopping for storage for all the stuff I had to uproot to make space for an instant home office.

ainsisoisje · 27/05/2020 19:53

Trying out new mattresses Smile

Elliebobtail · 27/05/2020 22:06

Other than visit family, I’m really excited to take my 18month old to a zoo, she just loves animals and would just love going! Oh and I have bare unpainted walls... I need to go to some shops to improve this!

KateOxford · 27/05/2020 22:21

Having friends and family round to sit in the garden and enjoy a BBQ but we need some more garden furniture; a bigger table to eat at. Hopefully it won’t be too long!

I have loads but I think my top one is letting my mum hold newborn DD and giving DS a hug. Then I can’t wait for the rest of the family to meet DD. Maybe I’ll have them all over for afternoon tea to use the new tea set I got for my birthday, ideally my new house will be ready so I can move in and have it in there.
Annnndddd when we’re in the new house I can finally start buying all my new furniture. I’ve spent the past 10 weeks looking at what I want and we need everything from appliances to wardrobes.

NwStStJt · 21/06/2020 18:41

I can’t wait to do my son’s bedroom (third and last child). We have 2 daughters and their room is all done but our 9 month is still in with us and his room still the washing/junk room. I have ideas of a neutral Scandi room and absolutely can’t wait to get all the bits from Ikea to make it look beautiful for him.

gemima27 · 22/06/2020 09:22

Looking forward to just being able to go for an overnight stay somewhere. Just for a change of scenery

LITTLEMUTLEY23 · 23/06/2020 20:49

Just seeing family and friends, I can't wait.

Hopezibah · 25/06/2020 15:10

My hair will definitely need sorting out as I've had to give myself and my family lockdown haircuts - eeek! But I'm just looking forward to simple things like walks in the countryside - we've been very limited as we've had to isolate for health reasons so haven't been able to get out much at all. Oh and meals out too - we love to celebrate birthdays and special occassions with a meal out and we miss that having had 3 lockdown birthdays.

Teaspoon74 · 26/06/2020 15:38

Seeing friends.
A haircut and colour.
Swimming (whenever the lido reopens!)
Not cooking for myself / eating out.
And arts/culture - theatre/gigs etc.

Oh, and buying some new cushions from Ikea!

Aethelfleda · 27/06/2020 17:56

I want to see my family-all of them- and my re-enactment friends who are my other family.
