It may be hard to think beyond the lockdown, but we’re all looking forward to getting back to doing the everyday things that we might have taken for granted. With this in mind, IKEA would love to hear what you’re most looking forward to once lockdown has been lifted.

Here’s what IKEA has to say: “Life at home has never felt more important than it does right now. But it’s brought some fresh new challenges. Whether it’s dealing with new colleagues that bark or cry, or finding distractions around every corner. Whilst we’re conquering the great indoors and enjoying time at home, we’re looking forward to getting back out in open spaces and catching up with friends, family and colleagues.”

What everyday things are you most looking forward to doing once the lockdown is over? Perhaps it’s a much needed post-quarantine haircut or being able to nip out to the supermarket planning for the entire week ahead? Are you looking forward to a quick visit to a friend or family member’s house for a cup of tea? Maybe you’re even looking forward to resuming your commute? Are you eager to have the freedom to be able to decide on an impromptu trip to IKEA for some meatballs?

Whatever you’re most looking forward to, share on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a £200 IKEA voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Can’t wait to have my parents to stay, they haven’t seen me or DD since Christmas as lockdown happened the week before a planned visit :( Looking forward to eating al fresco in the sunshine (if it’s summer!) and drinking some of our wine stockpile Grin

I volunteer at an arts cinema - I’m really looking forward to seeing people, sitting with people, watching a film on a big screen. Such a normal thing previously, I will appreciate it so much when I can do it again. Seems impossible at the moment...

Getting out of this flat packed dominated, child orientated, carped stained, decor strained, far too small (but it's London after all) house!

TickleMeEmo · 18/05/2020 21:46

I can’t wait to hug my mum, she doesn’t use technology and lives a couple of hours away, she has been really struggling with her mental health too so I really can’t wait to just see her in person.

wellingtonsandwaffles · 18/05/2020 22:44

Having someone else look after my child!!

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 18/05/2020 22:51

SO many things! Going to the seaside, getting a takeaway coffee, going to cafes.

Also honestly can't wait to go to Ikea, moved into a new house in December and been doing it up and I'm desperate for a kallax unit and a desk Grin

QueenOfCatan · 19/05/2020 05:52

We're moving to a fixer upper with an ikea 20 minutes away. Veggie balls and kallax are my plans basically!

AnnieDoolally · 19/05/2020 11:04

Pottering around an antiques fair.

Cookie0508 · 19/05/2020 14:25

Literally can't wait to get back to IKEA. We moved a year ago and bought everything from there, even the kitchen! Our pets are living in a house made out of Lack tables and we need to make a new one!

ilovemyrednosedaymug · 19/05/2020 14:53

I am looking forward to getting out and about again. The BBC show Malory Towers was filmed in the area, so we are going to go and visit the property involved once we are allowed to.

I am also looking forward to going out for a meal with friends.

Ikea would be the last place on my list as I have never been to one and have no desire to even though they have now built one in our county.

  1. I want to see my parents
  2. I want to see my nieces
  3. I want to get my haircut
  4. I want to go out for a pub lunch
  5. I want to be able to buy new furniture for my sons bedroom as he's going into a big boy bed
Ratbagratty · 19/05/2020 17:00

Let my 4yr old see, hug, play with her best friend and my 2 year old to interact with others too.

LouiseMastny · 19/05/2020 17:09

I'm looking forward to trawling as many bookshops as possible to rebuild my book collection which was destroyed by a burst pipe in the storage unit I was storing them in. That will also require getting a few new replacement bookshelves from ikea too!

ButterflyBitch · 19/05/2020 18:00

Looking forward to seeing my friends and family. My mums a complete technophobe and can’t work her smartphone so I can call her landline but have no way to see her. She’s 180 miles away. Sad
Also looking forward to going to Ikea and getting a new bed for our spare room. Grin

Ttcbabybennett · 19/05/2020 18:01

I cannot wait to go and see my mum!! She lives quite a way away and it’s been so hard not being able to visit and help her!! We’re also looking forward to actually getting a lot of home improvements done, we weren’t really able to get on with things during the lockdown due to money and not having the equipment in but once we can get back to work and are more comfortable going shopping we’ll be furnishing and decorating our spare room so both our parents can actually visit in the future!! So excited I can’t wait!! Grin

Londonmummy66 · 19/05/2020 18:29

Sending DC back to boarding school...

CountFosco · 19/05/2020 18:36
  1. Going for a swim
  2. Having my cleaner back to work
Tidypidy · 19/05/2020 18:40

First thing is to visit our parents then planning our new kitchen then buying it from IKEA!

nevergoingoutagain · 19/05/2020 22:18

I am looking forward to spending time browsing and making decisions rather than running into a shop for something I need!

HeadOfHomeschool · 19/05/2020 22:22

Hugging my Mum & Dad. They are in their 80's
💛💛

MustDust · 19/05/2020 22:25

I want to hug my mum but more than that I want to see my child hug her. She's not long since finished cancer treatment and is asthmatic so it could be a long time yet but if we can get to the point we're allowed to sit in the garden, drink wine and put the world to rights then that'll do for now.
I had a dream the other night ikea were selling tickets to come in, I was so excited, I clearly really need some normality back!

Flamingofolie · 19/05/2020 22:46

Not so much lockdown as shielding. I just cant wait to have a pint in a beer garden with my dog and my friends. And no more zoom!

PickledChicory · 20/05/2020 00:16

Hug and see mum and mil...maybe sneakily dash off and get them to babysitWink
As a family we would love to go to the beach DD2, 7 months has never been.

SunsetOnTheHorizon · 20/05/2020 02:18

Two words - Malm Drawers!! Had a total revamp of the bedrooms and now we need the Malm Drawers from Ikea to match the rest of the furniture.

JustineBMumsnet · 20/05/2020 10:59

Hi all, thanks for your comments on this thread! IKEA has asked us to pass on the following message:

"‘It's great to see so many of you are keen to visit an IKEA store once you're able to! Unfortunately it is still too early to say when our stores in the UK will reopen. We are waiting for further clarity from the UK government on ease of the lockdown restrictions, and will only open in line with UK government guidance. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes. In the meantime, our products are available to purchase online or on our App."
