It may be hard to think beyond the lockdown, but we’re all looking forward to getting back to doing the everyday things that we might have taken for granted. With this in mind, IKEA would love to hear what you’re most looking forward to once lockdown has been lifted.

Here’s what IKEA has to say: “Life at home has never felt more important than it does right now. But it’s brought some fresh new challenges. Whether it’s dealing with new colleagues that bark or cry, or finding distractions around every corner. Whilst we’re conquering the great indoors and enjoying time at home, we’re looking forward to getting back out in open spaces and catching up with friends, family and colleagues.”

What everyday things are you most looking forward to doing once the lockdown is over? Perhaps it’s a much needed post-quarantine haircut or being able to nip out to the supermarket planning for the entire week ahead? Are you looking forward to a quick visit to a friend or family member’s house for a cup of tea? Maybe you’re even looking forward to resuming your commute? Are you eager to have the freedom to be able to decide on an impromptu trip to IKEA for some meatballs?

Whatever you’re most looking forward to, share on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a £200 IKEA voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

I just want to go to Ikea! The website keeps teasing me by showing items as available for delivery but then they disappear from my basket as unavailable Sad
I need some more sanela curtains and some storage jars and some shelving bits. And a plant or two, some more of the nice glass cups, some wooden spoons and loads more
Plus those delicious tubes of chocolate things, like a flat rolo.
Please let me into the Warrington store, I'll be done in 30 mins, honest!

I am looking forward to going to an interior fabrics shop.

I have looked at fabrics online for a window treatment but it’s not the same as seeing and touching fabrics in the flesh, particularly as the fabric I choose will be the jumping off point colour scheme.

The last couple of years have been rough mental health -wise for my elder daughter resulting in her having to quit sixth form. Finally receiving an ADHD diagnosis & medication has helped her see a way forward & she has been accepted to study A levels at college from September. She has a poor sense of direction & difficulty with multi-step instructions so we need to practise the 20 mile journey via train & bus to embed it.Not something most people would look forward to but practical preparation would be a real positive step!

I so want to go swimming! I had just started swimming regularly again for the first time in literally decades, and was finding it so good for my fitness and my mental health. I joined a health club just before the whole coronavirus thing kicked off because I thought it would be nicer than just going to the local authority pool, and no sooner had I done so but they closed it for H&S reasons. Sad Even if coronavirus is still rumbling around for a while to come, everyone seems to think pools are safe because the chemicals will kill it. I'm finding lockdown OK more or less, but I really would love to begin my swims again.

Seeing my daughter. Meeting up with friends in person instead of on zoom. Going to the pub or out for a meal with my partner. Walking down the street without having to do big exaggerated 2m swerves around other people.

Introducing my newborn to my parents. He's due any day now and is their first grandchild 🥰

koffeetoast · 15/05/2020 06:46

My son going to nursery and being able to play with his cousins again.

We are also supposed to be moving homes so looking forward to getting excited about decorating our new place.

wildnightswildnights · 15/05/2020 06:46

Never thought I'd say this but looking forward to going back to work! Working from home has been lovely but I can't wait to see my colleagues and the pupils again (I'm a teacher)

Going on holiday. Anywhere outside of my little pocket of London

Bimbleberries · 15/05/2020 07:06

Hair colour
Coffee with friends
Playing music/singing with others!!!!

theneverendinglaundry · 15/05/2020 07:11

Seeing family will be the top my list, as well as swimming, and going for a nice lunch in town.

Cliffdonville · 15/05/2020 07:19

Seeing my parents is the thing I most want to do.

I would also genuinely love a trip to ikea to get some more house plants to add to my collection, they seem to last longer and grow better than the ones from the garden centre, and the pots are way better value for money.

DonLewis · 15/05/2020 07:22

Throwing a party! I had a milestone birthday in lockdown and obviously all the plans were cancelled.

I want to throw a massive garden party. Me and dh have worked so hard on the garden, it's ripe for a party! But first, I need to go to IKEA to get some stuff! I'd like a marquee (small ish) decced out like a bedouin tent!

DennisTMenace · 15/05/2020 07:56

Just seeing my family, particularly parents, and friends. The rest really doesn't matter.

BristolMum96 · 15/05/2020 07:58

Just to see family and start taking my toddler to her groups again

J6J6 · 15/05/2020 08:02

I can't wait to go and see my parents and rest of the family. I haven't seen them since I told them I am pregnant (first baby!) so it will be extra special. They live in Cornwall so it will be an added bonus to see the sea!

And then to be able to get in the shops to look at prams, and Ikea to pick out our cot and lots of other bits for our new house!

Smurf123 · 15/05/2020 08:42

Take my 2 year old to go hug his granny and granda!

Ashhead24 · 15/05/2020 08:57

Seeing family and taking the kids out to the local national trust property and getting an afternoon tea.

TheGriffle · 15/05/2020 09:24

Being in the house on my own for a whole day. Hugging my parents and letting my kids spend quality time with them.

Hanab · 15/05/2020 10:12

Firstly visiting my local ikea! No jokes .. ask anyone that knows me! I love just browsing about and having a cuppa.. please open soon!

Glittercandle · 15/05/2020 10:15

I’m looking forward to picking out a new carpet for my living room, then I’ll be able to relax properly in it.

Gracesquirrel · 15/05/2020 10:34

I am so looking forward to being able to hug my son and grandson and be physically in the same space as them! Thats number 1 after that I want to be able to go out and about with my husband and into shops together - an end to the one person per household in stores, being able to browse and talk to each other about things we want/need to buy. Just that teeny bit of freedom would make me very happy.

buckeejit · 15/05/2020 10:38

I actually want to get stuff from Ikea - been trying to do an online order for ages & most of the stuff I want I can't get! I already have one order on the way but have so much time to think about cupboard organisation, it's become urgent!

Also would love to go for a wander round an art gallery. That's about it apart from seeing friends & family

buckeejit · 15/05/2020 10:47

Please ikea can you start up click & collect in Belfast ASAP 😁

pitterpatterofpaws · 15/05/2020 10:48

We were in the process of buying a new house when the virus hit and had Pinterest boards full of design ideas for the new house! Can't wait to get the ball rolling for the house again and start buying new pots & pieces. Also found out we a due our 1st wee one at the beginning of September so can't wait to start going baby shopping especially a pram!

CordeliaScott · 15/05/2020 12:37

I was part of the way through sorting out and doing up the house when lockdown hit. I'm waiting for the queues to the tip to go down so that we can get rid of the junk that is cluttering up the house as we have two of quite a few things as the new ones arrived but I couldn't get rid of the old ones.
I also had a spa weekend cancelled so it would be nice to be able to rebook that as after two months trapped in a house with two small children I really need it!
