It may be hard to think beyond the lockdown, but we’re all looking forward to getting back to doing the everyday things that we might have taken for granted. With this in mind, IKEA would love to hear what you’re most looking forward to once lockdown has been lifted.

Here’s what IKEA has to say: “Life at home has never felt more important than it does right now. But it’s brought some fresh new challenges. Whether it’s dealing with new colleagues that bark or cry, or finding distractions around every corner. Whilst we’re conquering the great indoors and enjoying time at home, we’re looking forward to getting back out in open spaces and catching up with friends, family and colleagues.”

What everyday things are you most looking forward to doing once the lockdown is over? Perhaps it’s a much needed post-quarantine haircut or being able to nip out to the supermarket planning for the entire week ahead? Are you looking forward to a quick visit to a friend or family member’s house for a cup of tea? Maybe you’re even looking forward to resuming your commute? Are you eager to have the freedom to be able to decide on an impromptu trip to IKEA for some meatballs?

Whatever you’re most looking forward to, share on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a £200 IKEA voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

So many things!

Getting I to our house that we had almost finished after extending it. Its sitting empty now waiting for painting and carpets. I was doing a wish list on IKEA last night.

Seeing my mum again. She is 80 miles away and 76 and in bad health. Feel like we will never be together again right now. I just miss all things I took for granted before like moaning about the school runs and meeting mates for coffee at a drop of a hat. I would just be grateful for freedom and normality right now

I'm most looking forward to seeing family. My children are desperately missing their grandparents.

Asuwere · 15/05/2020 14:32

I'm really looking forward to getting a new sofa! Ours has been needing replaced but I'd put off, now we've been inside more, I've realised how uncomfortable it is.

Glendaruel · 15/05/2020 15:34

Two things:

My partner being able to come to our 20 week scan. We have our 12 week scan next week but he can't come, so won't see our baby until then.

If lockdown finishes soon, getting married on a beach in the Hebrides this summer. If not then next year we will have double celebration of our wedding and introducing the new member of our family.

Want to take my Mum out to a garden centre for coffee and a big cake! Love people watching with her!

redbook · 15/05/2020 19:42

I'm actually looking forward to going to ikea! Not just because the thread is sponsored by you. I had plans to sort out the DCs toys before this kicked off. Obviously I have no spare time now I'm working and home teaching, but I'd like a few kallax units and other storage bits.

Less materialistic, I'm looking forward to visiting family. I have a baby DS who last saw his family when he was 2 months and will probably be walking before he sees them again.

Definitely an IKEA trip for me too, I've thought up so many home improvement ideas that I can't wait to get stuck into once I've had a good haul at IKEA!

I also can't wait to get a chippie tea in, I've had so many cravings for one.

PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 15/05/2020 20:41

I want to go to Ikea and choose a new bed.

mrshoho · 15/05/2020 22:19

Going on a family day out together. Not rushing to get home as quickly as possible. After a nice walk, stopping at a pub with a lovely garden for a drink and some food.

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 15/05/2020 22:25

I want to have the wedding we postponed!

anothermansmother · 15/05/2020 23:10

Have friends over for bbq ( if it's still summer) or dinner. Loads of good food, drink and lots of laughter. It's what I've missed the most, lots of friends around, cooking new dishes and setting the table and chatting in the kitchen or in the garden if the weather is nice. I really miss adult company, and FaceTime just isn't the same.

MustShowDH · 15/05/2020 23:58

Getting some new garden furniture and a fire pit, inviting people over and enjoying chatting into the early hours round the fire in the garden.

WilmaJean · 16/05/2020 03:14

I've had a baby during lockdown and can't wait for family and friends to actually meet him Smile

OnceUponACat · 16/05/2020 03:27

Ikea to buy my daughter a desk for her new room and then Fly home to see my family and friends.

ayupducky · 16/05/2020 04:58

Mine is quite boring but I've really missed going to the supermarket or other shops as a couple. I'm looking forward to one of us not having to queue outside on our own.

grisen · 16/05/2020 05:02

I’m looking forward to going out for a meal and finally celebrating my birthday. I’m also looking forward to shopping, for clothes and IKEA with my best friend.

PorridgeAgainAbney · 16/05/2020 07:07

Swimming. My knees are a crunchy, achy mess after trying to do cardio workouts to replace the swimming I was doing before.

Having DS's friends round to play in the garden.

Decorating the house. We were due to have structural work done in April which we've put off while both our jobs are at risk so it will probably be a while before we go ahead now.

thatcarolebaskinbitch · 16/05/2020 09:14

Go to IKEA as we desperately need a new Kallax unit but refuse to pay £29 delivery for £57 worth of items!

Preggs · 16/05/2020 10:02

I am looking forward just forward so I don't fall over 🤣

ArnoldJRimmer · 16/05/2020 10:16

My parents live over 400 miles away so as soon as we can we're travelling to see them. It's been 7 months since we last saw them and our trip at Easter was cancelled. Dad's shielding and I'm terrified that I'll never see him again but staying positive so visiting them is top of the list Smile

hellswelshy · 16/05/2020 10:44

After lockdown ends I would like: some hugs, some drinks with friends and family under my new gazebo, a much needed hair cut and a drive to the coast. Ikea you have been great and I've had a desk delivered for home working but am longing to come and browse in your stores once again Grin

ohdannyboy · 16/05/2020 11:22

I'm looking forward to having my mum over for Sunday lunch, it was the highlight of her week, FaceTime just isn't the same with her grandchildren, although we speak 3 or 4 times a day, it's just not the same - but she is resilient and knows we'll get through this.

PashleyB · 16/05/2020 11:34

I'm looking forward to seeing my family and being able to go out for a long walk with the children

Randomdogbite · 16/05/2020 11:34

Hugs with all of my friends and family and last week we finished up our freezer supply of meatballs and Daim cake so a trip to Ikea to stock up while the kids are in smalland so I can browse in peace!

xine15 · 16/05/2020 12:05

Taking my baby to see family and socialise with her baby friends.
