There’s no question that staycations are on the rise. And whether you’d consider one because they can be cheaper, easier with a large family, you want to appreciate the UK or simply because you can bring your dogs along too, Parkdean Resorts would like to hear about what your ideal UK staycation looks like.

Here’s what Parkdean Resorts has to say: “We are the UK’s largest Holiday Park operator with 67 locations in some of the most stunning coastal, countryside and lakeside locations. From the impressive Scottish Highlands to the sunny South Coast, a Parkdean Resorts holiday is a great way to explore the UK and discover your new favourite spot.

Adventurers can camp with their tent, touring caravan or even try Glamping. Or choose from a huge choice of caravans, lodges and hot tub lodges including brand new accommodation for 2020, to suit all budgets and family sizes packed with everything you need for a stress-free holiday. And with 66 parks offering dog friendly accommodation, you really can bring the whole family on your holiday.

Find the best choice of accommodation by booking early, with deposits from only £25. And, you can now spread the cost of your holiday in easy and affordable monthly Direct Debit payments. Perfect!”

Would you be looking for a beachside break for the whole family while hoping the British rain holds off or do you think a couples midweek retreat sounds like the perfect way to recharge your batteries? Where in the UK is next on your list to visit? If you already ‘staycation’ regularly, what do you enjoy about it?

All who share what their perfect UK break would look like on the thread below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

We like a UK holiday. For us, a site by hills and forests are ideal. We are campervanners, so electric hookups that don't cost the earth are ideal but not crucial as we can do everything we need to without. We don't need entertainment laid on, bars or restaurants but a clean shower block and small shop on site or nearby is welcome. We are planning heading to north Wales next. We enjoy it as it's a little adventure and, if the weather is good, we know a great spot just an hour away that we can head off for on a Friday teatime and be back on Sunday at the drop of a hat.

We love to go into the countryside as our family love nature. They love to be near a pool and if possible the sea. We take it in turns to choose lunch (and wash up!).
Also take photos of animals and try and visit a sanctuary.
There is always 'I Spy' on the way home!

HadEnuff20 · 30/01/2020 20:04

Great views and walking. Comfortable, clean accomodation, with all the basic comforts of home.

sarah861421 · 30/01/2020 20:07

clean and affordable. good weather, plenty to do and lots of good places to eat that wont break the bank

sm2012 · 30/01/2020 20:22

Somewhere not too far to travel with kids with lots to do nearby or on site - swimming pool, sports activities that the kids can get involved with on their own, entertainment, cafe/bar etc. A beach would be good too plus somewhere nearby to visit for a day out - zoo, theme park or similar :)

A break to the Scottish Highlands with a cottage in a peaceful, rural location, to recharge our batteries, enjoy the outside, read some books (we never get time!) and perhaps enjoy a hot tub in the garden too!

LOU2ASH · 30/01/2020 20:40

Clean accommodation, quiet site but close to amenities. Lots of nice walks. With access to a swimming pool.

Dencop · 30/01/2020 20:42

A nice quiet campsite within site of the beach and walking distance of a village or small town, no kids clubs and hope for sun. This is my ideal break to spend quality time with my hubby and kids playing lots of beach games and jumping the waves. Perfect times.

g15grw · 30/01/2020 20:43

Scottish Highlands with my family

HowDoYouPronounceJohn · 30/01/2020 20:53

I only holiday in the UK. Generally only for about 4 nights due to costs.

Most important thing is good quality, clean accommodation. Would never book anywhere unless it had a very high rating/user reviews.

An issue I do have is that the vast majority of self catering accommodation is designed for either families with children or couples, with nothing for adult groups. So I usually end up in a single bed, which doesn't measure up to what I'm used to at home.

We go camping, as long as there are decent showers and toilets and maybe a little bottle of wine we have a good time. The kids find the other kids and off they go, at home they are stuck to the electronics, but when we go camping they really enjoy being outside. This year there was a shallow river and all the kids went "fishing".

cinabar · 30/01/2020 21:14

Somewhere near a sandy beach, I think in Wales. Plenty of castles to explore and ideally a site with a swimming pool to relax in after a busy day exploring. Some sunshine would be nice too.

Nicole1709 · 30/01/2020 21:16

A relaxing break in a cultured town such as Bath or York.

TiggersAngel7774 · 30/01/2020 21:19

On the coast, brilllant wifi. Great local places to eat no too expensive. Fun outdoor activities nearby

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 30/01/2020 21:22

By a nice beach, not too busy and with great weather!

emmmaaa26 · 30/01/2020 21:26

Somewhere on the coast, dog friendly, not too expensive with lots of activities nearby. It needs to feel like a holiday.

emmag1925 · 30/01/2020 21:31

My perfect UK break would we a few days in London with a Thames Cruise, a visit to The Shard, a ride on the london eye and a trip to the theatre, the London Dungeons, Madame Tussaud's and The Science Museum

RomaineCalm · 30/01/2020 21:31

A campsite near the coast or a small holiday park with lodges rather than caravans.

If we're camping we like EHU but also a fire pit, good toilet/shower facilities, a small shop with some local produce and an enforced policy on quiet after 11pm!

EmNix · 30/01/2020 21:42

cornwall, lots of scenery, beaches and tasty cream teas. A cottage or lodge near the coast would be perfect

Lorlypop · 30/01/2020 21:49

A little cottage in the middle of nowhere with sunshine and my dog

Lfoulds0209 · 30/01/2020 21:50

I would love somewhere near the coast with nice places to eat and drink. I would also like somewhere with good children's facilities for our daughter

Sarah250187 · 30/01/2020 22:27

We love a family caravan holiday. I was brought up going to holiday parks and have very fond memory’s being with all my family at Devon or Cornwall. We now take our son to holiday parks and he loves all the activity’s and the excitement of going back to our little home for the week.

pfcpompeysarah · 30/01/2020 22:28

It would be a nice caravan park near the sea, just outside of town (a short walk) so that pubs and shops/places to eat are nearby. The park itself would have lots of safe facilities for all ages, including a restaurant/pub, place to grab burgers/pizzas/fish and chips in the evening to take back to the caravan, good swimming pools both indoor and outdoor, and a choice of evening entertainment.

TutsiFrutsi · 30/01/2020 22:34

Log cabin in the woods, better still a treehouse!

rachelmccraith · 30/01/2020 22:46

My ideal UK break would be at the coast, activities and entertainment nearby, along with some nice restaurants. And it would need to be dog friendly. And somewhere where we could go and see some wildlife would be amazing
