This thread is now closed.

There’s no question that staycations are on the rise. And whether you’d consider one because they can be cheaper, easier with a large family, you want to appreciate the UK or simply because you can bring your dogs along too, Parkdean Resorts would like to hear about what your ideal UK staycation looks like.

Here’s what Parkdean Resorts has to say: “We are the UK’s largest Holiday Park operator with 67 locations in some of the most stunning coastal, countryside and lakeside locations. From the impressive Scottish Highlands to the sunny South Coast, a Parkdean Resorts holiday is a great way to explore the UK and discover your new favourite spot.

Adventurers can camp with their tent, touring caravan or even try Glamping. Or choose from a huge choice of caravans, lodges and hot tub lodges including brand new accommodation for 2020, to suit all budgets and family sizes packed with everything you need for a stress-free holiday. And with 66 parks offering dog friendly accommodation, you really can bring the whole family on your holiday.

Find the best choice of accommodation by booking early, with deposits from only £25. And, you can now spread the cost of your holiday in easy and affordable monthly Direct Debit payments. Perfect!”

Would you be looking for a beachside break for the whole family while hoping the British rain holds off or do you think a couples midweek retreat sounds like the perfect way to recharge your batteries? Where in the UK is next on your list to visit? If you already ‘staycation’ regularly, what do you enjoy about it?

All who share what their perfect UK break would look like on the thread below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Somewhere quiet close to a beach would be lovely. Lots of activities available and somewhere close enough to restaurants and a supermarket

PickledChicory · 30/01/2020 22:58

I already live in rural scotland in an area popular for walking breaks and fantastic mountainous scenery. From holiday Im often looking for a bit of buzz. Small village or shop in walking distance and plenty of stuff nearby to do. Will be great when kids are old enough to go off and do some activities themselves.

hibbertheather · 30/01/2020 23:03

I'd love Devon or Cornwall, beautifully clean beaches, gorgeous blue waters, beautiful sea air and lots for kids to do and see

Tortiepops · 30/01/2020 23:06

Loads of nature activities where kids can learn about animals and plants and get outdoors time.

swanlady2000 · 31/01/2020 00:23

First Class train to London, tickets for a family show, stroll arould Covent Garden for the street entertainers, lovely hotel afterwards and Dinner at a child friendly restaurant like RainForest Cafe

prettypistol · 31/01/2020 05:37

It would be anywhere in Scotland, I cannot get enough of this place! So beautiful, so much history, so much to look at!

Lindseymorris29 · 31/01/2020 07:39

My perfect UK break would consist of plenty of entertainment and activities to keep my family of varying ages amused and entertained. Due to the UKs climate and weather, I would say there has to be plenty to do indoors as well as outdoors. An indoor tropical waterpark would be a great start.

Etihad · 31/01/2020 09:07

We would love to go somewhere that really is genuinely accessible for families with disabled children. So many places claim to be, but they aren’t. So anywhere without steps (not even small ones!) a hoist and wetroom would be absolutely perfect please

mollymoo818 · 31/01/2020 09:24

My perfect UK break would be at a really nice holiday park where they had some nice glamping options so that I could feel like I was getting out in nature but also with a few home comforts and being in a nice park with a restaurant and some activities for the kids.

strawberrisc · 31/01/2020 09:50

My perfect dream break would be like my perfect home if I won the lottery. For decades I've wanted to live in a log cabin (rustic but modern enough to be comfortable) on the edge of a loch in Scotland. I needs to have an aga, a wood-burning stove and a rowing boat. A holiday in such a place would be amazing.

poorbuthappy · 31/01/2020 10:18

Something that doesn't cost £1k in school holidays just because I dared to accidentally have 3 kids and married a school teacher.

libra101 · 31/01/2020 10:40

Our perfect staycation would be somewhere easy to travel to; for us either The Lake District or North Wales. Good clean accommodation and lots of restaurants and cafes to choose different types of dishes, suitable for adults and young children.

Plenty of activities, swimming, exploring, hiring bikes, skateboards, roller skates, and other equipment, with lots of places locally to visit.

Evening entertainment on site would also be great, and good weather would be fabulous, though not guaranteed in the UK!

Parkdean holidays sound ideal, and we will check them out when next holidaying with our grandchildren.

PulyaSochsup · 31/01/2020 10:43

A good mix of decent weather, child friendly activities and some culture to liven it all up. Topped off with some good weather!

purpleclaire · 31/01/2020 11:31

We like to stay in a nice cottage when we holiday in the UK, with plenty of space, good facilities and special touches, like fluffy towels, toiletries, DVDs, games and a welcome basket. We've not been to a holiday park before, but maybe I could be converted! We like to be near beaches and do some sightseeing etc but tend to stay away from theme parks. We've had some lovely breaks in Dorset, Northumberland and Yorkshire.

TheWildWoods · 31/01/2020 12:06

Honestly the perfect family holiday for my family would be camping under the stars, being close to nature with plenty of room for the children to run around, a bonus would be being close to child friendly activities

gamerwidow · 31/01/2020 12:55

Decent weather, nice swimming pool, clean accommodation, lots of family friendly activities and entertainment.

MrRichTea · 31/01/2020 14:15

A log cabin in the lake district, bliss!

cathwarbur · 31/01/2020 15:24

I'd like to try glamping, it really appeals to me because you have the glamour and everything need yet still in touch with nature. Best of both it seems

hartsdown1 · 31/01/2020 15:30

Somewhere close to nice scenery such as the Lake District or Scottish Highlands.

DassDass · 31/01/2020 16:12

Lots of space for me, my Husband and the little one (and maybe even the grandparents too!), opportunities to 'escape' for a while - eg. a place to get my nails done or an adult-only swimming pool/library, a big family pool with slides and lifeguards, a variety of restaurants and shops with a good choice of vegetarian and gluten-free foods....the list is endless!!!

allthingsred · 31/01/2020 16:37

Somewhere with entertainment for us all (From toddlers to teens) on site
But close enough for us to do some off site activities.

mollysmammy · 31/01/2020 16:39

The Lake District with plenty planned for each day to entertain DD!

helly27 · 31/01/2020 17:03

A trip to London for all the museums and cultural things as we live near the sea so don't need to go somewhere like home

MulberryPeony · 31/01/2020 17:11

Location would be the biggest draw from me. Somewhere with nature close by. Activities would be good but I’m not interested in entertainment.

NewPage · 31/01/2020 18:12

Our perfect break would be by the sea, with plenty to do for the kids. Comfortable rooms and an all inclusive lovely menu every day. I’d love to have a bit of pampering whilst the kids we’re entertained and I’m sure DH would like a good pint of ale and some football. All with a great community of other families, somewhere near Devon or Cotswalds.
